These 3 Rules Reinvented the Vlog | Ft. LifeOfRiza
Фильм және анимация
While @LifeOfRiza’s videos are technically vlogs, she more accurately says they're "based on a true story." The detail orientation she puts into her lighting, cinematography, and editing result in a fairy tale-like experience that helps Kariza build what she calls her "cinematic universe." This new style of vlogging was born out of a project Kariza started to vlog for one year. The project was an instant success, gaining her 100,000 new subscribers in the first three weeks.
Kariza is nearing the end of her year of vlogging, and in this episode she sits down with Jack to discuss what she's learned, and the three rules she followed to keep herself on track.

I am leaving this comment here so that after some hours, days, months or years when someone likes or comments on it, I will be reminded to watch this video again. Great Video!
the reason Kariza stands out is because she's not a vlogger/KZreadr, she's a filmmaker that uses KZread to broadcast her work

this! Her whole conversation are all filmmaking foundations. Not gonna take away she's amazing. But if you're a filmmaker - it's the basics of filmmaking.

Just realized that she is no usual vlogger but very technical like a pro film maker and i feel so stupid watching this vid.. But in a good way.. I thought camera is just a camera and all same, but talkingabout the lenses only already confusing. 😂😂😂😂 Now i have some ideas how to produce a little bit engaging vlog compared to the one i have now 🫡

Dude you are bringing in some of the most authentic, talented, sincere KZread creators, and your willingness to put them front and center while you genuinely geek out about their work is a testament to you. I think the reason you're bringing in so many heavy hitters is because of who you are, and your well of enthusiasm and love for every creative decision. Now I'm gonna watch this video lmao

You can see her heavy influences of cinematography. Very few KZreadrs actually have a cinematic eye. The algorithm has been blessing her lately it’s well deserved. We need more high quality KZread videos these days with the creator market being so crowded. Reminds me of a lot of Wes Anderson films. Kind of how theatre elements are brought into a cinematic world. So good with so much character.
The fact that Kariza likes early 2000s romcoms makes so much sense to her vlog style
I think my favorite part of this whole thing was the idea of Easter Eggs. I'm definitely going to steal every single one of these ideas for my videos, and come up with my own.
Honestly.. natalie lynn and life of riza has sparked my interest in cinevlogs and I am now on a war path in cine studies. I have fallen inlove with this world and I can't wait to see what I come up with for the future to evolve all the things I love in my cinematic world

I was so looking forward to this conversation. What sets someone like Kariza apart from so many who "only do youtube" is that she does her own thing without talking about others and trying to get attention through that. Love her style and her attitude, she's a real role model there.
everytime I watch her videos or BTS with other youtubers , I instantly want to be a filmmaker but then I realize she is not an overnite sensation. She has a solid 5 yars of freelance learning under the belt and with that I drop the idea. :)
life of riza is giving the taylor swift mastermind of vlogging (iykyk). brb, about to apply the 3-act structure & storyboard for my next video 🥹.
This is the first time in YEARS since I've sat down to watch a Director's commentary. And this inspired me more than anything has in recent memory. Stunning work
She's a gem. KZread is LUCKY to have her on here. GREAT TIPS! I forced myself to download and start playing around with DaVinci Resolve solely based on Kariza's recommendation.
Being waiting this interview for months! Riza is just a beast making those cinematic vlogs and the beauty of color grading, craft and story. So many years in the shadows where no one cared, and one day the almighty Algorithm saw her. Very likely she'll get 1M subs before the end of the year at that speed. Reminds me kinda like when Peter Mckinnon exploded.
The only reason I love you, jack is cuz you'r super authentic and enthusiastic. That's why I took the time to tell you this.
this is sick. LOVING her storyboarding/references to older films as well
Jack is the master at brain picking, asking great questions that result in terrific insight into the minds of talented content creators.
Awesome interview, Jack. Such a fascinating episode ! Life of Riza is arguably one of the most iconic storytelling focused channels on youtube at the moment, in the same ballpark as NataliexLynn and a few others insanely talented and experienced GenZ. Just watching these 35 minutes, it tells us so much about how she manages to build up her films (yes, at this point, these are films and not vlogs anymore), and how much details and preprod she puts in each one of them, which really explains so much why her "vlogs" have this "je ne sais quoi" that makes her stand out so much of the Casey Neistat/PeterMcKinnon style of vlogs. She's not just a pretty face, a solar smile and a soothing voice (which, all 3 certainly help in being engaging onscreen and endearing to the audience), she actually knows about the craft of filmmaking with 5 years of actual experience in the filmmaking industry. She's basically a perfect storm all on her own. Great to know she values storyboard so much. I'm a director of animated shorts films, and in animation, storyboard is an absolutely vital part of the process. It always boggled my mind to see so many live filmmakers and cinematographers completely disregard the craft as unneccessary or just a little supermarket to pick a few shots here and there : I once participated in a 48h competition as a storyboarder, and in good old 48h r challenge fashion, spent the night whipping up a cohesive storyboard of the whole 5 mins long movie for our team, without sleeping. To my utter dismay, the director/cinematographer (who at this point had his beauty sleep), woke up the day after, got a quick glance at it, felt like "mmm, yeah, this one's not bad", and picked ONE shot from my whole storyboard, and the rest, he'd figure out on location. Prior to that, we were pals (which is why I accepted to be part of his crew in that challenge), and needless to say, I never worked with that twat ever again. That was 10 years ago. People, please DO NOT underestimate the power of preproduction. What she said about the more preprod is done, the more perfect and quicker and reliable the result is absolutely 100% true for animation, and certainly applicable for live action filmmaking, or in her case, vlogging. She's making a fantastic fusion of both crafts (filmmaking and vlogging), fine tuned to a tee, and it's great to see this new generation of filmmakers reinvigorating KZread (which kinda started to feel stale for a few years already) onto its next level. Also, I'm admirative on how Jack is able to decipher all the tiny little details that nobody else has caught on and you can tell it made Kariza's day to talk to someone so perceptive who made her felt actually seen. The sparkles in her eyes and the smile on her face each time he caught an easter egg or inquire about it was just so precious !
Friend showed me one of her vlog's, and it blew my mind. Props to her for making her life a cinematic universe.
This is turning into my favourite channel, fan of Kariza as well! Keep up the great work Jack!

what's amazing is how I've seen the creators you call out before and taken them just for granted. Just saw it, just watched the video. But you help me understand how they work, how much effort they put in and how powerful they are. Thank you!
bro ur interviews are so sick, love the guests and really enjoy u having visuals for everything they talk about. As a visual learner really helps me comprehend everything and put references into perspective!
Give that woman all her flowers, she deserves it!
the more I know about her, the more I respect her.
These tips are INCREDIBLY helpful. Thank you so much for interviewing and picking at her brain! And although some of this info may not be “new” to the vlog and film world, she’s still bringing a lot of people into a more cinematic way of planning and executing projects and in such a unique way! I love it so much, as someone who has had heavy influence from film growing up, a love for photography and videography, and wanted to vlog moments in life, she’s just merged the two worlds in a really thought provoking and cool way. I’ll be honest, I’ve always given up too soon, but seeing Riza’s videos over the last year has really sparked my motivation to get creative and get a real project done.
This was excellent! Thanks so much for asking interesting questions and sharing this great interview. Super cool to get an insight into her workflow and brain, makes me feel inspired to create!
One of the few creators that I admire on youtube. You can really tell the passion and effort that she puts into her videos. Her work inspired me to try to get better at my own craft 😊
LOVE YOU RIZA!
I’ve just found out about her channel! Such an inspiration 🥰
Thank you for creating and delivering this video! I was so curious about what’s behind Riza’s filmmaking as it does feel like a fairytale!
A duo I've been wanting for a while now!!

Thanks for shedding light yet again on film makers who are so good at their craft, we are “surprised” they are actually carefully planning their shots that come across so naturally to the audience.
Her attention to detail is phenomenal 🤩
This was so beautiful! The honest conversation, the breakdowns, the little moments of magic, and seeing the thinking behind them. Wow!
Man you dont know how much helpful these breakdowns are getting!
Thank you for such a juicy interview, Jack 🔥 Honestly I thought at first that it'd be another click-bait video about Kariza. But your interesting and deep questions help me understand her better, as well as the filmmaking process itself. I got a lot of insights to improve my videos 🤯 Thanks again, keep it up!
She’s amazing, inspired me so much
I love her content, such a breath of fresh air in the KZread community with her content and others.
Wow, Riza is soooo incredible, talented, and thoughtful! This channel is so good that invited those genius filmmakers to share their journeys. Thank you Digital Spaghetti!
Such a great interview on every level. Two inspiring humans breaking it down :)
Truly INVALUABLE content you’re bringing to the community Jack!
Great video! The real ones are digging for this content to make it on youtube! Thanks for sharing your secrets, great interview!
I LOVE how much joy you show in the creative techniques each creator uses. Your videos are a delight to watch and I learn so much.
That much organization would make me pull my hair out. Yet, everyone else complains about my OCD, but its about how I do things, never about how I prepare for things. I suck at that!
This is so enjoyable to watch and lot of insights too!
Riza has been one of my inspirations. I love how your interviews reveal all of the unseen work behind the creators! I feel foolish even thinking about pre-production. It’s encouraging and inspirational to see the unseen work Riza puts into her videos.
Awh what I nice surprise! Love your interview breakdowns and my appreciation for Riza’s vids have skyrocketed now hahaha the effort pays off 🫡
So much MORE respect for both of you, this episode is a hall of famer
Ever since I started watching Riza, KZread algorithm has blessed me with good youtubers. And it's doing wonders to me
This is brilliant
One of the hardest parts about vlogging is talking to the camera and doing something while talking is something I also have realized makes it relatively easier. @LifeOfRiza and Colt Kirwan both are very good at what they do. Loved the insights.
Totally awesome thank you Jack and Riza!
The attention to detail is truly incredible - great video!
Pure gold! I love Kariza and her channel, so it's wonderful to find out all this behind the scenes stuff to be able to learn from her 🤩
I love seeing the magical brain of Kariza. Big fan, I have learnt alot from this video! Thanks for doing this!!
Kariza is a superstar for sure. Main Character irl. #MainCharacterDotX

The qr code on the package is pure genius!
Kariza is definitely someone i watch with the sole purpose to just learn from her and take in all of her talent. Thank you for this video!
This is slowly becoming my favorite KZread channel. Love listening to these conversations and you invited by far most of my favorite youtubers. so much to learn about filmmaking and storytelling.

Yes! I wanted this video so bad. She's awesome, and it's great to hear a bit of the behind the scenes.
Another great deep dive! Thanks for these :)
she has always been my favorite 'cinematographer' lifestyle vlog if that makes sense. it's like watching a film in vlog format.
Definitely a true film maker. I love her channel! I definitely learned a lot! Basically I need to step up my game!
Amazing, love these interviews. This one and the gawx one were so good!
