@@murkyturkey5238 talking to my latest guy might have actually helped..I was telling him of “The Amazing Adventures Of HVAC Guy,” and control boards..well, the transformer and board were blown, he puts in a new board, but then new board says inducer motor shot. He didn’t have one, so, next day he shows up and says “I was thinking about this last night, I’m getting a funny feeling about this “new” board, and the voltage it was sending, so I brought another new board to double check,” and yep..furnace fired right up. Still expensive but at least I didn’t have to pay for an inducer..

Here in central Florida there are a lot of retirement communities and I would get older people sitting in their lawns watching me. At first I thought they were nosey and/or scrutinizing me "and some were" but once you talk to them, most are just interested in how the machine works and how I would push dirt with the blocks to build a ramp to get on the slab.

Wow another old one, it needs a changeout. When yall were talking about the old cars that used r12 it reminded me that years ago, I was told that to use the 134a that you had to change the oil in the compressor, change the expansion valve, accumulator and such. I said screw all that and bought 4 cans of the 134a and put it in. I didn't even pull a vacuum. It was a '72 impala. It worked like a charm, freezing cold ac, and gave me no trouble at all.

It’s got a bigger handle than the other precision screwdrivers so you can get good torque on it, but it’s smaller than the 8/11 in 1’s. Plus it has a 1/4” driver that is super slim which has gotten me out of a couple pickles.

I'll second this. Been out of the field for a while but I loved mine. My only issue was it doesn't have any electrical insulation and I'd find myself in situations wanting to use it but knowing I'd be safer with my insulated set and going with that instead. It's always a battle weighing the pros and cons of time saved being more reckless with an insulated tool but having to haul around a set, compared to going with the single multi-tool and taking more care in cramped spaces.

Problem wasn't the thermostat though a local HVAC company charged them for and installed a new one then left. I was second call out. Replacement thermostat not mounted to the wall correctly, thermostat wiring patched in 3 places. Ran new 7 core back to the furnace removing all patches and the furnace then worked fine. Plumbing damaged included pretty much every outlet (kitchen sink, bathroom vanity, laundry, toilet fill line AND splt toilet tank as well as bathtub / shower valve)

With the T6 thermostat, there's a setting in the main menu to turn the programming off. This gives the customer the ability to turn programming on should they choose to do so in the future. When you turn programming off via installer settings, that's it. They have to call a technician out to change that setting, often resulting in more zero- dollar call- backs and more customers not fully satisfied.

Nice work as always Curtis! Do you have any tight crawlspace calls you deal with? I'm located in N GA and I deal with crawls all the time! Absolutely hate those jobs!

You have to realize, that as a technician, you are going into other people's homes. They may feel compelled to carry on a conversation or otherwise feel like a bad host to a guest. It's OK to tell them "I can do my repair or replacement more effectively if my focus isn't divided."

@@bobwhite1734 Not my videos. The equipment is expensive. Also, depends on the refrigerant that you have in your current system and what's used in the system you're getting. I wouldn't consider using anything but virgin refrigerant if I was putting in a new system.

@@officerkrupke4966 yep. One of my legs went through the downstairs ceiling of my parents brand new home. My dad had some aluminum coated and perforated cardboard sheeting laid down in the attic because my mom's bedroom was getting that winter north wind making it too cool. Afterwards my dad marked out the walkway plus my mom's bedroom was substantialy warmer.
