Thermoforming Thin Sheet - Lesson 5.2

This is an excerpt from Paulson Training Programs "Thin Sheet Thermoforming" training program. The complete course consists of 6 lessons and is approximately 10 hours of interactive training. The program is available both online through Paulson's InSite360 online training portal as well as on your company's local area network.
This lesson teaches all about the numerous types of molds and mold layouts available in the thermoforming process. The factors involved in cooling design, venting, cavity layout, mold clamping are all extremely important to maintaining productivity and part quality. These topics are covered in detail.
In production, your personnel must be able to make very accurate setups so that optimum mold cooling, venting and part ejection are achieved. Also, the thermoforming mold designers must understand the effects of their design on part quality and production efficiency.

Hi I'm trying to heat 2mm x 950mm x 600mm polycarbonate and vacuum form it but haven't had much luck first of all it started to slump but then got bubbles in it maybe to much consontrated heat? Also what other plastic could I use that won't bubble and still be clear and have the same properties as polycarbonate as it needs to be flexible but not shatter thanks

Work on your venting holes they are the reason for bubbles most of the time
