I got mine last week and picking it up this week. One question though... I got the nzxt kraken x63 cooler with 2 fans to put on top. So the 2 intake fans in front will draw in cool air. The 2 fans on top will push hot air going through the cooler. What about the fan in the back? is it pushing in or taking out air?

Great review Mike, The best view 51 review that I have seen; one thing thou - you forgot to mention the lack of dust filters for the top and front (I didnt notice these at first when I started to investigate this case too) - but I think this could be a problem. I really like this review how you went over ... Everything. From the size, to the fans and their colors to all the ins and outs of the case. Again really Great review, pretty much answered all my questions. As far as what Id spend for a case - to be honest depends on if I like it.

Getting ready to purchase some parts from Microcenter and this case is one that caught my eye, mainly due to the ginormous fans in the front and also the cavernous inside. I plan on putting a 4090 in this so airflow was not something to compromise. I am so happy to hear you say airflow through the front was not a concern given some reviews I came across for this product. I think you put my mind at ease so thanks for that.

I just bought this case I don't think it's too big! Sure it's certainly wide, but looking at even what's considered a 'mid' case, this is only about 50mm Taller, only about 15-20mm deeper. It's really the width that's most significant at about 80-90mm wider. So if you've got a wider desk the size isn't really too much of an issue. Or like myself, even putting on the floor is certainly an option. I'm actually not a fan of how tall some full cases can be, and can make your monitors look even smaller. So I quite like the more squarer look. I'm certainly not a rich person, so my rig is going to be quite moderate. But it looks great even without crazy cooling systems! :-)

Hey Mike, now you're speaking my language! Sweet case, even though it's still a bit small. My Level 20 HT is 613 x 468 x 503 mm (24.13 x 18.43 x 19.8 inch). Another thing I like about the Level 20 HT is the motherboard is turned 90 degrees clockwise, with the I/O at the top. The PSU is also mounted at the top which I like, in the rare case of the water cooling developing a leak. I love double chambered cases and more cases are going that way, like this View 51 TG, my Level 20 HT, and the Lian Li 011 Dynamic family. As for the extra long front panel cables, I always cut them off because I never use them. In regards to price, I have no problem paying up to $350 for a good case. My Level 20 HT was $227 with taxes.

11:00 are there any cases where there are no slots for SSDs? motherboards now have M.2 SSD support. the B550 Aorus has 3 M.2 slots, if i had one i wouldnt bother with 2.5" SSD drives. I think if they can fit a PSU where the SSD bay is, with the fan facing upwards and having the top part of the case be where air escapes, it would help reduce temperatures inside the case. Cooler Master SL600M is the closest thing to that, but the PSU fan cant face upwards, its facing the actual casing which is strange.

The Gamemax F15M wins the race for the mesh and size (LOL). I don't know, I think too much TG makes it keep very hot, maybe the 2 200 mm fans make the job right. PS: 4 dislikes? Hi Mike. Considering this as an option for a case, but can't seem to work out the why of the magnetic and bottom filters? If the large front fans draw unfiltered air in, and all the gaps everywhere not filtering anything, is there even a point to having the filters installed? Seems to me they'd filter air leaving the case more than entering, and no air entering the case gets filtered anyway, which kinda defeats the point in my mind. You touched on this too, so felt better it wasn't just me being stupid. Would you bother with the filters at all? And are filters really necessary anyways in a build?

I personally love the case. I've had it since it's launch and have a full setup of RGB fans. If I could add a picture I'd show it off. I will eventually put in a full custom loop but for now, I have 4 200mm favs and a total of 10 120mm fans and a single 360mm AIO. The whole case stays nice and cool with the arrangement having 2 of the 200mm as front intake, 3 120mm on the bottom as intake, 6 120mm in push/pull around the 360mm AIO radiator directing exhaust from the side, and lastly 2 200mm and 1 120mm at the top and rear of the case also as exhaust. This is promoting a nice even positive airflow for my 2080ti and Ryzen 3950X which are coupled with 64GB of RAM on the ASUS Crosshair VIII. Having the fans face the way I do allows for fresh outside air to flow straight through the AIO to cool the CPU and because the fans I'm using are PWM all around I can run the intakes at full and the exhausts to run slower thus pushing plenty of air of the entire motherboard. The case may be HUGE but it really works well for airflow.

What if you mounted a rad behind the front fans? Wouldn’t the side fans be able to pull the warm exhaust air directly out of the case? You could then mount fans on the bottom pulling in, with centre logos swapped so it’s still half decent looking, and fans mounted at the top and the one on the rear exhausting warm air as it rises over the motherboard.

Hi Mike, just bought this case brand new for a really low price, and your overview, which I just watched, is great. I didn't know that this case was released over 2 years ago, and I am worried about the included RGB fans. Can you explain how I can test these fans before beginning the build, it would be devastating to get it all built only to find out that they don't work. I'd have to take it all apart and return the case. Being able to test these fans first would be a great help. I know I'm really late to the party on this one, but any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

not true about the limited space for hard drives though, you have entire area infront of your power supply to custom mount anything you want really, and with hose access slits next to the motherboard can easily maneuver SATA cables and power from that side into all that free space, this box comes with cable ties as well if I'm not mistaken but that could have been the EVGA 850 GQ power supply those came with. If you're not going for a highly overclocked build with as much air flow as these have and a proper cpu fan will never have to get water cooling. I used an Ultra Gladiator tower for years that was purely fan cooled and had very good air flow and always stayed cool, the only downside is dust build up, so don't feel intimidated by the water-cooling features or pressure to have it as in todays average user and non hobbyists, fan cooling is all you need, I purchased this case for the potential to upgrade further but mostly for the space to do so or to work on because there is nothing less satisfying than building a pc that you have no room to work in and this one has tons to spare.

Ι like this design cause it is spacious for a change! Maybe unideal for water cooling. I don't know. I am always doing air cooling anyway. Yes it could have more SSD and HDD spaces but it's ok i guess. Perhaps one could even flip the box to the side and have the PSU under and the glass up and this way the heavy video card would rest verticaly. Ok it will probably need some standoffs so that the PSU is not suffocated for air.

After using this case for as long as this video has been out, i will say that its a beautiful case and its definitely served its purpose i use to recommend this case to everyone, but after 4-5 years the glass panels unglued from top and front side. And the airflow isn't the best even with the extra fans air comes out great but i really have a feeling that the front fans arent doing much even though they are huge. I will also say the fact that this case has a seperate RGB header that doesnt work with most fans is also terrible because my motherboard never had RGB functionality and the case doesnt either other then that basic button... So my thoughts are It wasnt worth the 200 for its time compared to the cases now that are way cheaper. I dont know what it retails at or anything like that.. I will say that this case has gotten me a ton of compliments and was easy to work inside of before the glass falling off. Upgrading later this year for the first time in a long time and my eyes are set on the Montech King 95 Pro White edition.

Doesn't have dust filters, window is in the middle of air sucking - blocking the cold air inflow, which is quite important. It makes sense, that multiple gpu's or devices will suck in more cold air when they are placed vertically then horizontally - drawback it takes huge space. Less stress for pcie slot, to hold big heavy cards. Still interesting design choice, I would personally remove the glass in front, maybe even consider to remove the glass on side, but not necessarily, if it's already sucking hot air out good. But if it, didn't have front vents, than I would remove side of the case, or if you have 1 single card, than it would be even colder if side case is opened, due to more airflow, but when they are stacked like sardines, only closed case to cool them off, or even water cool them. Consider even getting some kind of dust filter in front, or it will become a vacuum cleaner, with all the dust inside. This case can fit 2 big cards (3 pcie slots) 1 medium card (2 pcie slots)? Price bites, but if you are looking for esthetics, maybe it should be worth it. But I would prefer more a mouse, than an elephant, to save space, that you live in. Still though I would not complain if I had one of those. Great case.

Just slap a carbon charcoal filter into the front and look at that big case as a fancy Air Purifier :) I'm actually surprised Case Manufacturers havent went down this road. If youre going to have a big powerful box with a 750W-1200W PSU and 9-18 fans blowing inside why not make it an air purifier as well? Just need more powerful fans.. Probably Static Pressure will be the only fans that can withstand blowing air through a HEPA Filter and still provide air for the case to cool.

08:20 Thermaltake loves to make nearly perfect cases but leave out things that only makes you wonder why in the heck did they leave that out? Its for profits. They had enough space to add in a second 2x drive cage for a total of four 3.5" drives but chose not to. The O11D XL did this and it flew off the shelves. Why did Thermaltake do this on this case (AND EVERY OTHER CASE THEY MADE) because they know if they build that perfect large case we will never need another case again. So they always purposely leave out features that they KNOW we want. I know they know because MANY of us sent them emails complaining why they didnt add this and do that with this and that case... Why didnt they just make this case an inch longer so we can add 480 radiators etc.. So they know what we want and it wouldnt be hard for them to combine everything we want in that one large case. Like take the Level 20 XT for example.. We complained we wanted more than 2 or 4 drive storage.. so if you want more drive storage you HAVE to buy that big awful case to get the 6 drive cage. BUT now youre stuck with a case that mounts your mobo horizontally. Not a bad idea but some of us may not want that. Look at the Core x71.. they couldve easily added a second 3x drive cage to that and a second mount for it in the lower pedestal. But they didnt. And you cant buy the drive cages separately to add it in yourself. Look at their P5 and P8 cases. If you want a nice flashy case where your PSU isnt hidden behind a shroud those are the two cases to look at.. Yet they have like no storage options for drives. View 71.. PSU isnt hidden but only one 3x3.5" drive cage and if you use it you can have radiators in that part of the case. Thermaltake likes to make some of their cases to be either you get drive storage or you get radiator support but not both. They couldve easily added a separate storage compartment liket his case has onto their view71, P5, and P8 cases to have storage for 4-8 hard drives to make truly awesome cases for guys who actually use their PC to do work and need drive storage. But they chose not to. Lian Li 011D XL showed us it can be done, Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 showed us it can be done with tower cases.. This case the View 51 couldve been a truly great case that flew off the shelves since its pretty much a lian li 011D BUT allows 200mm fans.. if they added that extra compartment for drive storage and like you said.. wouldve been better if they were hot swap trays like the Lian Li 011D XL offers. Even Corsair with the 680X created a nice thick side comparment for their PSU and drives offering storage for 3x 3.5" drives and 4x 2.5" drives. Thermaltake sees these other cases and yet wont make us a case that offers 200mm fans, placement for 3 radiators, 6x 3.5" drive trays and at least 2 to 4x 2.5" drive mounts, and allow the PSU to be placed in two locations in the case; one tucked away(behind a panel or shroud for those users who hate seeing the PSU) and one in the showcase to be displayed (without interfering with the bottom radiator) for those of us who want to see the PSU. The Phantek Enthoo Pro 2 offers this case minus the 200mm fans. Only thing about that case is the drive storage is up in the "show room" next to the PSU shroud (where the PSU should be sitting by default **but can sit there as well since the Enthoo Pro 2 was designed to be a 2-system case) and takes up almost quarter of the space of the bottom radiator. Like damn it Thermaltake stop making these cases to be halfway decent, and just make that one great case that gives us everything we need. You know many users have RAID setups, and you know we game. So we have good PSUs. and hot running video cards.. so we need the liquid cooling. If 200mm fans exist then we should have that option to use them. If PSU now come with RGB and have video screens on them then we should be able to display them. Thermaltake stop thinking about profits for one minute and just make us THAT case that can do it all already. You can sell it each year in a different color for all we care and we will continue to buy it. It doesnt have to be a monster. It can be 2 square inches larger than the Lian Li O11D XL. So picture the O11D XL extended like 50mm in each direction. Just long enough to fit 480 radiators on the top and bottom. Wide enough to to squeeze in the PSU behind the bottom radiator, tall enough to fit a 480 radiator or tall enough to squeeze in the PSU just above the bottom radiator like the Thermaltake P8 does with its support bracket. They can literally just slap this storage case on the back of the P8 and add 2 more 2x drive cages or even 3 and watch the money pour in.

@@mikesunboxing I think by the time any Case Manufacturer designs that powerhouse case and still keep it affordable our hardware will be much smaller and we will all be using Micro Cases. By that time SSDs will become so cheap that 3.5" will be obsolete. Theyre already trying to push us into using just M.2 and SSD which isnt that idea since PCIx M2 steals bandwidth away from the corresponding PCIe lane which most likely with have a second GPU sitting in it.

i think for me the lianli is the one i would go for as it is a base and you can do what you want with it, the View 51 is sort of semi finished in terms of the fans installed and the fan hub, so it limits your build if those components will need to be swapped out

On the inside vertical radiator Bracket I put 4 SSD's I just made 8 Brackets that hold the SSD's in place using the 140mm fan mounting holes I made them with my 3d Printer. Then I added 4 120mm Fans behind the SSD's for cooling. I used the two hard drive enclosure for 6tb Storage drives. Aslo if i need more SSD's I could do the same with the top mount. I also added 2 more SSD's on the top just drilled holes in the Top of the hard drive cage. Just Mod to fit your needs more!! If anyone is interested in the 3D printed Brackets just contact me through my KZread email.

Third; air flow is terrible, front and top glasses are blocking the fresh air way too much and front fans has low rpm. Great video anyways 👍

@@ooozturk9195 I wonder what the airflow would be like with higher RPM fans.. most people ditch the fans that come with cases because 9 out of 10 time theyre inferior fans and not the manufacturers best fans. The wasted space really annoys me.. I noticed Thermaltake likes to waste what couldve been great space for a second drive cage in some of their cages. I swear the designers or the bosses that run the design department are either a-holes that they wont let the designers add in more drive space or idiots that they havent even considered it or have considered it but decided to leave out that second cage to increase profits because you know that second cage cost like what .20 cents in injection molded plastic? It's funny that Thermaltake hosts a 3D Printer forum for people who had to 3D Print parts to add to their cases because Thermaltake was too cheap to make the parts themselves and sell them separately. So people without 3D Printers cant get the parts unless they pay someone with a 3D Printer to print them for them. I need a case for 4-8 drives.. and the only case that offers that with proper water cooling is the basic looking Level 20 XT. I'm starting to think I should forget about finding a case that can hold that many drives so I can find a case better looking than the Level 20 XT and just print a 8x drive cage. It would be nice to have a case that houses them though.. like the 011D XL.. which only can hold 4 drives in hot swap bays. 6 wouldve been better. 8 wouldve been perfect.

@@vertigo6982 as a professional data storage engineer, I would not recommend you to buy this case since it will be extremely heavy and gona have issues with the cooling. I would recommend you check with purpose build nas cases and definetly consider splitting your storage ( with the highest capacity hdds) and the computer. That will help you out with the electricity bills since you may need to have your storage computer running on 7/24.
