Thermal Exploration All Electric Designs using Flow Simulation Part 1 - Webinar

Join us at GoEngineer for this three-part webinar series as we explore what it’s like to use Computational Fluid Dynamics using SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation to evaluate the thermal performance of an all-electric design. As more enterprises pursue their initiatives to reduce their carbon footprint, many are looking to an all-electric solution. Based on the thermal heat energy generated by these systems, we may need to ensure that our all-electric designs are safe and operate as efficiently as possible, especially if they will operate in extreme environments.
As this series progresses, we will take a designer or analyst through a more complex thermal testing scenario using all the mechanisms of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation. With SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation, we will see that a more complex analysis doesn’t always mean that it is harder to setup!
In part 1 of this series, we will look at a design when the power is turned on and left operating for a long period of time. We will examine what the resultant temperatures are across the whole design. Are the temperatures enough to cause a contact burn? Or are the temperatures below a certain target operating temperature for some of the more sensitive components? We will concentrate on getting accurate conduction and thermal transfer of the heat power between all the components. We will also look at the convective response with and without fans as we examine the air flow through the design around the components and heat sinks.
