Gibson guitars 🎸 are not from this galaxy 🌌 They are the best guitars!!!

I just bought one last week and I love it. Yep long time tele girl, sold my last tele to buy this same model. Light weight great sound and build quality. I like LP standard and classic but just too heavy to be comfortable for me. I needed some more bite than my tele for Rock and you still get round fenderish tones.

I have a faded yellow DC special and I love it! P90s are such great pickups!

I can tell that the lessons are already paying off! Continue the good work!

Sweet TV Yellow LP Special looks really awesome and you squeezed some nice demo tones out of it! I love the Gibson P90s clean or crunchy. I have a cherry Tribute Special with a nice flame body grain so it kind of makes up for not having the luscious TV Yellow version.

Looks and sounds like a great guitar! Nice playing.

If I’m ever able to get another guitar, this is #1 on my list. Love the P90s and the simplicity of the guitar 👍

I’ve never played one, but I would like to…I agree with you Landon, I like the “stripped” down “simpler” Les Pauls…good stuff 👍

I fell for this particular type in 2014, although it was marketed as a “20th Anniversary” Melody Maker, it looked exactly like this Special. I LOVED it. A guy had it for sale locally for $500 usd! I made an appointment to buy it the following day after work I drove 40 miles to pick it up. Of course, he sold it to somebody before I ever got off. It really is a bucket list guitar for me. The MM sounded sooo good and I think the special has the same if not better P90s.

One of my favorite guitars. One of these in red and a butterscotch Tele is all I need. One con for me, I prefer a master volume.

Solid vid. Now I’ve got to go play one. I see a local store has the cherry red and the SG version. May have to brave the snow and venture out to try them. 🤟

That's the Les Paul that finally won over this Fender guy. I tried a few LP's before this one, now I love mine!

My first Gibson was a Les Paul Special Tribute Double Cut. It has most of the same great P90 tones, but is even more bare bones with no binding, 1 volume, 1 tone an all the routing on the top side.

The P90s are pretty fantastic. My Epiphone Special was an excuse to try them and I have 0 regrets.

I own 9 electrics , it’s hard to pick a fav right but I must admit I have been playing my Harley Benton HB35 in black , it’s heavy but really rocks . Glad to see ya with this rocker Landon .

I'd love one of those! I mainly use Fenders now, but I own some Gibson's as well, but none with P90's in.

Hi Landon. I have a 1 yr old LP special same color 7.0 pounds. Love it but had to have nut changed to get anywhere near stable tuning. I also had just the neck pickup changed to so-called “50’s wiring”. These really are tone monsters and yes they share the simplicity of a telecaster.

Specials are cool I recently got an Epi LP Special and love it

Mine holds a "special" spot among my Gibsons. The television reference is accurate. Pure white would often blast out with the old TV cameras that had a low dynamic range. The off white or light yellow color rendered as a non-glare white.

I got one with Normal Tailpiece. Love It.

I know you had the Epi version…how does it compare? Is the neck slimmer? Your lessons are paying off…great playing!

original 50s TV juniors and specials were not yellowed when they were brand new. They were more of a "wheat" color as everyone called it back in the early days of collecting. They yellow with age. And this finish was definitely done to have the guitar show up better on a black and white TV

Ever since I seen the album cover and heard the album of Peter Framton Comes Alive I’ve always liked the Les Paul, in fact that was the first guitar I really liked.

Hey Landoers, I’m planning to get an Epiphone SG special, in Faded Pelham Blue. Reason is, with Gibson, if I’m paying a premium, I might as well go “all in” and get a Les Paul standard. I would’ve gotten the Gibson version but since it’s already “aged” I don’t know how well it’ll naturally age in time, with an already yellowed out finish. However Epiphone being Epiphone they’re poly, so I won’t have to worry a bit about that. I can go crazy on it without worrying about any big damages. Any thoughts and opinions are well appreciated, so feel free to reply.

Loved the STP riffs! I have an original 1956 Gibson Les Paul Special as well as a 2019 Gibson USA Special. The new Specials definitely have the right "feel", big neck and lightweight. They just have to work a bit more on the TV Yellow finish. Not quite there yet, but otherwise for the money it's a very cool guitar.

I had an Epiphone LP Special (one of the "limited runs") back when I was playing with a church band years ago and got rid of it... Regretted that so much I bought one of the recent "Inspired by Gibson" models just like it. Incredible instrument. I don't love it more than my beloved Gibson SG, but it's objectively as good as the Gibson. For classic and hard rock riffage, there's just nothing like a good set of P90s!

Wow Landon I just bought a TV Yellow LP Junior 5 minutes before I watched this video. It’s a 2011. You can’t get the Juniors anymore in Yellow unless you go Custom Shop for like 5K. This one’s a Gibson USA. Got it from Stang Guitars in Edmonton. Great $&@&ing store! I wonder if mine will be translucent like yours. Hope so.

This guitar represents the best value for Gibson right now. It's simple and it does not have body binding or carve top, but it's a beautiful full gloss nitro finish that will look better with age. It's got the neck binding and pearl logo, not to mention the HARD CASE. All for less than $2k (or $1600 if you get open box/demo etc). Nothing compares to the value of this and it is a truly historical model so you can feel good having it apart of your collection for that reason as well.

Ah, you did get one. I thought so by the guitar appearing in a recent thumbnail. Looks very good. I have the Epiphone version and it's good, but the TV Yellow is more of a solid Mustard colour, not the proper translucent finish. Hope you continue to enjoy yours.

The flat top Gibsons are definitely the way to go for Fender guys. The carved tops can be awkward if you're used to Teles and Strats.

Had a Strat for 20 years and a Tele for 5, bought a used custom shop Goldtop LP. Didn't like the fatness of the body or how the neck was angled back from the body and the neck felt like half a baseball bat. Sold it after about 3 years of never really getting used to it.

@Mark Mc Donald Had several Teles and Strats. Absolutely could not get into an LP, no matter how much I wanted to or tried. Got an Epi SG and it eventually became my favorite. I'm a huge Jimmy Page fan and it's frustrating to not be able to play an LP. But Jimmy Page's Telecaster sold more Les Pauls than any guitar in history. 😆

Great guitar! I love those. It's the one Gibson that always tempts me! You've been playing Lady Picture Show a lot lately. The first chords are not a power/bar chords. First chord is 7th fret on the A, 6th fret on the D, 4th fret on the G, let the B and high E ring. Second chord is 6th fret on the A, 4th fret on the D and G, then again let the B and high E ring.

Absolutely yes, yes, yes!!!

What makes it better than a Tele are the P-90s AND the solid mahogany body. It's the wood. Nothing resonates like mahogany.

That's more than enough Gibson for a mug like me, for sure.

Check out the Sire L7 and it's 1/2 the price...killer !

These go for $1800 now!? Wow. Bought mine 10 years ago on sale for $699. Bound neck, dual p90's, tobacco burst. Only difference is mine has a tune-o-matic bridge which I prefer anyway. I'd take one of these guitars over any carved top. Ultimate rock n roll machines.

Nothing against that Gibson, but I've got an Epi LP Standard that's been getting all my attention lately. And it definitely wasn't $1800.

Les Paul wanted a color that would show up better on the old black & white tv’s, thus tv yellow was born

Mayonnaise and 1000 Island, P 90 s Pick Ups. Luv it . Sounds awesome..

Back in the day all TVs were yellow. You can't tell now because the only pictures of them are in black and white.

I built my Son in law one of these for Christmas last year. I built a tele version for myself. Now I want the LP version, for myself. LOL

The TV Yellow name has nothing to do with being on TV. It was a student model. It comes from the short lived Les Paul “TV Model”. A short scale Variation of the junior which initially only came in the yellow finish. The eye grabbing yellow color was made available on Specials and full scale juniors the following year, hence the name TV yellow. It comes from the Short scale les Paul jr. model. Not how it looked on TV.
