    When you have a near-death experience your whole view of what's important in life changes. It makes people reckless in pursuing their dreams because they don't know how much time they have left on this earth. I do worry about Shareef sometimes, but he is willing to die on the floor and he'll be damned if it's on a college court and not in an NBA game. Do you really think it's that easy? Just get a good trainer any everyone become good? By 22 Giannis was averaging 17ppg in the NBA and was a season away from an all star. At 18 he signed a contract with Zaragoza and already was a full international who played in the world Cup and Eurobasket. His starting level is far ahead at a younger age. He was a phenom. Siakham was a phenom at college averaging 20ppg 2.2 bpg 12rpg whilst Shareef avereged 2ppg. They are NOWHERE near the same dudes so I dunno why their names are mentioned. @@bjrnthebootybandit The Krimzon Empire went a little overboard by comparing Shareef to Siakam or Giannis, but it still was a good point: Shareef can take a big step by working with the right trainers. Just at O'Neal's current trajectory, he projects as an above average player in the G-League, but with intense training, I can see him get some type of contract (10-day, two-way, rest-of-season, etc.) in the Spring. I wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers invited him to training camp and he earned an Exhibit 10, even if he ultimately gets waived. 💁🏻‍♂️🏀

    I think something that has probably gone under the radar, but in sports like Football (Soccer for you guys) When a young player is out for a whole year without being able to do anything, it really messes up their development. Not just because they get rusty, but because the muscles they have been developing and growing by playing that sport for years just decrease and so for the next couple of years young players often have to go on loan to smaller sides, just to develop those muscles and that power that they originally had, to get back to the level they were. This is where the NBA is flawed a bit, as although you have the G league, there is no real staggered stages where you can slowly progress your game again, unless you go to Europe.

  • @Solokid404

    @Solokid404

    2 жыл бұрын

    Honestly you are right. We do have the G league but it's not as successful as the loan system in soccer. With the loan system you still get first team reps and playtime and still get that feel and growth while maintaining competition. And the loan system works with younger and older players as well. And it can work out for everything if the player does well at the club they were loaned or they grew a lot in terms of experience and play and they can see if they will bring them back from loan or just let the other club buy them permanently. Sometimes a player( no matter the sport or situation) is put in a situation where they are expected to perform but they aren't fully ready and they need time to grow into the role or to grow overall in terms of ability and mindset. People these days are so quick to right off young players when they start to stumble and that can really hurt their confidence. Some players do need time out of the spotlight to really show what they can do and grow

    @@Solokid404 Yeah exactly, I just think of Loftus-Cheek at Chelsea. A really promising player but had a few injuries at youth level and 2 major ones at around 21 and 24, both which made him miss a season through injury. Him having that opportunity to go to a a league below to work on his fitness and rebuilding his muscles and mental sharpness and then having a 2nd season to be in the top league, but in a team with less expectations, meant that he could get himself into a shape where he is ready to play for Chelsea again and at the level he should have been at. I just imagine if this was in basketball in the NBA, he would either be stuck in the G league or on the bench of an NBA team, hardly playing and his career stagnating.

    I hope the Lakers sign him; we missed out on Klay Thompson. Michel Thompson tried to tell Lakers leadership, and we can see what happened. Now Shareef will take 3/4 yrs development. Why? The medical reason, however, he has talent, a sweet game, and a winner's attitude. The Lakers can use a player like Shareef. He will improve every yr. This will improve the team.

    This young man has experienced something many will never. He's not going to be tiptoeing through life or doing what others think he should. We don't know how long he has and this is his dream. Shareef said what he said. He's in development. Had he not been selected for G, then he might have had some regrets. He's a grown man and he's entitled to make his own choices as well as live with the consequences. If he gets a 2-way here, or get to play overseas, he's still living his dream. I had two friends, both FIT alumni. One stayed for the four year degree, came home, nothing. The other did the two year, immediately employed as a production MGR with JCrew, and the rest is history. I realize that college develops NBA players, but Shareef's opportunity for G was right there. So, go!
