I'm not finished with the video, but I just can not agree with saying that your entire life should revolve around your partner. No. Don't get me wrong, you should certainlty make a point to have time for them, but there is no reason to make them the center of your universe, to put them ahead of your family, your friends and everyone else. That is insane to me. Your partner needs to be someone who understands that you have more priorities than just them, not someone who flips out when you don't spend every moment you have free with them.

Known you from Sourcefed and loving what you do, I decided to subscribe a while ago. Videos like this, frankly, are really good. I haven't been on the "on a break" case, but just hearing you talk about it shows you know about life, I share the opinion, and just say I'm glad you share your knowledge, and happy to become a Lieberfriend, haha!

This video resonated with me today. My first serious relationship ended less than a year ago, and it was hard for me not to worry, like what Lieberman was saying towards the end. Luckily I quickly realized that it was a good thing that it ended.

Sadly I felt like that girl for the longest time. Then one night I made a mistake. I let someone comfort me and we ended up making out. It never went father than that and I kept beating myself up about it. Finally my boyfriend came into port and I told him I couldn't be in the long distance relationship anymore. He took it horribly and told me that he was planning on purposing when he got back this Christmas. It's been 2 months and I still beat myself up about it, but I know I made the right choice. This video was so helpful. Thanks Matt.

Matt, is there any way we can ask questions without getting a video response? Like, I want to ask you things, but I don't need a whole video dedicated to my question. Ya know? Like maybe Tumblr, or some sort of system

To the sender of the email: Remember to make this into a learning experience, not a regret. This goes for everything in life but particularly relationships. When you look back on the good times, smile; when you look back on the bad times, acknowledge what you did wrong, could have done differently, and when you were unable to do anything. Whether you choose to end the relationship or not doesn't matter for this bit of advice because if it does continue this all still applies. Really hope it works out, one way or the other we're all pulling for you.

Yeah, the break doesn't exist. However, the whole "Partner has to be #1 priority" thing is super weird. Like, maybe if it was marriage or on its way there, but seriously. If you invest the majority of your time and attention into any one area of your life you fall down in others. A happy life is about seeking a balance.

I disagree, my family will always come first. I was in a long distance relationship like this one your talking about, and when I would come back home I definitely saw my significant other but I would hang out with my family too. He would come over and spend time with me AND my family or friends. Also the days that I had a girls night or family outing or whatever that we couldn't hang out together, he understood. I don't want to sound mean but maybe she was just to clingy fir him. You need to get with someone that has the same priorities as yourself or else you will always be bickering about something. Ok rant over...
