What I love about Sebastian is his inhibition..He’s not worried what anyone thinks! That makes him a cool kid in my book!

❤️ he’s such a precious gift. My own first born daughter was diagnosed with CDLS later to have it changed to SMC1A specifically, a much more rare and only in girls diagnosis. But for almost 2 years we thought it was classic CDLS. She’s our most precious gift. She’s 4 now and there are many similarities in our experiences. We do have a little boy who is 2 and another girl who is 5 months. We are almost unable to believe how blessed we are to have them all and we wouldn’t begin to realize had we not had our precious girl, Arleigh, first. Keep up your labor of love!

Can completely understand your reservations and excitement about Sebastian going to school. Stephanie don't feel you have to constantly validate how you feel you dont, it's completely understandable and natural and only someone in your personal experience can totally understand that, shows you're a great Momma too. Sebastian is a lucky little boy to have you both as parents and to have such a fantastic Family with all the Love and stimulation he gets is beautiful to see😊

I was a special education teacher for thirty years. I understand it will be harder for you than it will be for Sebastian. The school will take very good care of him, and the thing about him going to school is it makes him more like other children. Going to school is a stage of life we all go through. It will also be a good break for you. I know he is your life, but part of parenting is cutting the cord, and entrusting your child to others . He will be with a trained teacher who will probably have quite a bit of equipment and toys to meet his needs. I also had a sister who had Downs Syndrome. Her cognitive abilities was in the severe to low moderate range. Growing up I was the one who took care of her most of the time. Everyone said she functioned socially so much better than other children with the same cognitive abilities because she was raised in a family of 5 children. No matter a child’s IQ they really do benefit being around other children. You will be amazed at how much Sebastian will probably react to the other children in his classroom. I can’t say enough about how much he will benefit from being around other children and adults during the day. Start with half days, and as soon as possible transition to full days. It will be very good for both of you.

I'm a teacher in a therapeutic day school, and my son has autism. I totally get having a hard time trusting anybody with your baby, especially when he doesn't have words to tell you if something is bothering him. I think it will be great for him and for you too. Sebastian knows what he wants to say and he will learn to use alternative communication devices quickly. All of the teachers and aides that are in my school are there because we want to be there, and we love kids like Sebastian, I love that they are open to having you be in the class with him too! That is a great sign.

Thank you for sharing your life with us:) You are so inspiring in every way. You are an amazing Mamma! I love making breakfast casseroles too:) I have found that like you have found, you can be incredibly creative with what you have on hand. WIth stale/ day old bread or rolls, eggs, ham, bacon, cheese, onions, etc you can make so many casseroles. With a bag of hashbrowns, or day old leftover cut up baked potatoes and eggs, the possilbilites are endless:) So hearty and good for dinner too:) As for school, you will undoubtedly make it well known that you are very engaged, and that leaving a piece of your heart with them is not easy. He will love the visual stimulation of everything/ I know that others think he cannot see, but I saw how he looked at those Christmas lights:))

I’m wondering if it would benefit Sebastian’s therapies to be barefoot? Perhaps the sensation and feeling of the carpet, the wood floors or even a shallow pan of water would connect him to his feet, give him an awareness. Just thinking as this is how we support toddlers when they are learning how to walk. Sensory stimulation is a great tool for children, even on feet! Thank you for sharing with us!

I love seeing the bond between you and Sabastion. I know that his poor little muscles are stiff and how good physical therapy is. My son was behind in speech and we had a girl that would come out to our house twice a week. At the age of 18 months my son didn't say mama or dada he point and say dat and cry from being frustrated because i didn't know what he wanted. I had my son at the age of 27 due to my miscarriages and i did 5 ivf cycles to finally become a mommy. Me and my son were never apart and he was a very easy baby. Except when he was only 3 weeks old and i saw blood in his poop. I was breastfeeding and he had a allergy to dairy and my breastmilk would hurt his tummy and i had to take dairy out of my diet and i never realized how much of it i at but he was still having tummy problem and wouldn't poop so he was put on a special formula and we got lucky my husband's health insurance covered it. When my son was 11 months old we wanted to try for another baby and since we had the failed miscarriages and 4 ivf cycles we figured we be doing a couple of ivf cycles. So we did the first ivf and we got pregnant with twins !! They came early at 32 weeks they were healthy but tiny. Baby a my son was only 3 lbs and baby b was a girl and she was 4 lbs they were born 3 weeks before my first born son turned two !! So i thought me having the twins and spending 2 weeks in the nicu and back and forth to the hospital daily for breastfeeding the twins made my son behind in his speech but the specialist said it wasnt from that some children are just alittle behind than others and by the time my son was 2 1/2 he said mama and dada and he had like 15 words he use alot and the more time he spent with his speech therapist he was adding more words to his vocabulary and i was so proud of him. I know speech therapy isn't as hard as Sabastion therapy. I hope i made since..lol sending love from R.I. ❤❤

I had the same fear, my daughter went 3 mornings per week. It worked out well. Teachers are well trained, clean and I cried the first day, thought I was the only one who had a special needs child! The school my daughter went to had a pool which was heated. There are special neck safe life vests. She loved it. The high school she went to was too loud, police presence, metal detectors, so I took her out. I recommend trying it out. When he gets a bigger, a baclofen pump is the most wonderful thing. Love the stander.

I'm glad to hear that you are thinking about what Sebastian would want to show to the internet. I don't generally watch family style channels where kids are featured but my child has special needs too, and I stumbled upon your channel and fell in love with Sebastian. He's so cute. And it helps to see someone else in a similar position as you. Having a child with such special needs can be really lonely and challenging. You seem to be doing really well, and I'm glad that you have a support system. I understand how you feel about not being able to trust anyone with Sebastian. I love my boy so much and I am so fiercely protective of him. He can't tell me if anybody hurts him and that is scary. He goes to school though, because he needs to be around other people too. I won't always be around. Also, he listens better to strangers and will focus more on the things that we are trying to get him to learn. When he goes to school he goes in happy and comes back happy, and I see no sign of abuse but it's still hard to let him go. You seem to be doing a really good job with Sebastian, and he is such a blessing. Take care.

I'm sure school will be an adjustment for you, Geo and Sebastian but he will reap the benefits of it. You and Geo are such amazing parents and Sebastian is such an adorable little boy! I wish you all the very best and God bless you all.

Oh sebastian did so well in that stretching chair. he really is doing better on that. I just love his grins, and how much love and care you give to him. You are amazing with him. I look forward to seeing him in school ( if you do any filming) or just updates on what hes doing there. Summer is really going by to fast! Here in Michigan, honestly I think it's really been one of the worst weve had. It started out brutal hot, then cloudy ALOT, you know just not many perfect summer sunny days. See you in the next video!
