My theory is the Umaril’s title “The Unfeathered” was actually given to him posthumously in reference to Pelinal tearing his wings off.

I'm pretty certain that's most likely the case, feathers being a big part of Ayleid culture like adorning armor and all, using the term Unfeathered is very fitting for a dead Ayleid who had his "feathers" ripped away(wether figuratively or literally). He was a Champion of Meridia too so I'd be more inclined to think his nickname whilst living was something more related to Light or something, but that's my opinion I suppose. I might be misremebering but I think there's at least one other of the Ayleid kings killed by Pelinal confirmed to be nicknamed posthumously so it wouldn't surprise me if all the Ayleid kings Pelinal killed directly being nicknamed posthumously as well.

If we take the word ‘garden’ at face value and consider the Ayleids proclivity for flesh sculptures, it’s not too much of a reach to suspect Namira is the identity of the insect god. Her sphere is the repulsive and grotesque, covering everything from vermin to cannibalism, I think flesh sculpture would be right in her wheelhouse. She may have granted the Ayleids favor and unknown power if they adorned their gardens in flesh sculptures as offerings to her.

Between the various "lost" elven races like the Dwemer, Falmer, etc.... The Ayleids are my favorite. The lore on them is such a contrast between the beauty and elegance of their gleaming marble and glass cities; and the abject horror of their art tortures, flesh sculptures, and horrendous treatment of humans. An ancient race of tyrannical bird-like elves living in immaculate marble cities harnessing starlight for magic and ruled by sorcerer kings that turn tortured humans into works of sadistic gory art? Love it. Also, favorite is definitely Haromir of Copper and Tea. I love the name and what it could possibly be derived from.

@@hannah.r6613 Yeah, a lot of people seem to forget this. Ancient Aylied Empire likely had many different city states from my understanding, and its likely that a few held a more traditional, standard view with the Aedra and didn't commit terrible acts. Allesia had their help in rebellion and even the foundation of the Empire, but the fanbase never remembers that. I take it maybe not "most" but some were chill with humans, a minority in comparison, and so they'd be in no position to stop the other Aylieds and their Daedric practices unless the Humans joined and if the people like Pelinal or the Man Bull showed up, not to mention the Nords that also helped. Granted, Pelinal just hated Elves as a whole, so unfortunately he likely didn't care much about his Elven allies in the field, probably killed a few of them too in his rampages

It may be a stretch, but Umaril's parentage may be linked to the left-handed elves of Yokuda. They're the only other elven link to a previous Kalpa that I can think of, and presumably they worshipped some gods who could have been brought over from the previous Kalpa also. The Aylieds liked picking up new gods, so it wouldn't be impossible for them to begin worshipping, and apparently eventually boning, a Yokudan god.

The Ayleids who survived the Alessian Order but couldn't escape Cyrodiil hid in the forests an became bosmer-like. 2) The diaspora into High Rock and Valenwood. The Direnni elves have a lot of Ayleid blood and an unknown degree of Ayleid culture, and the bretons are in part descended from Ayleids. In Valenwood, the Ayleid refugees eventually lost all their culture and melted into the bosmer, but it's possible there's villages and such in Valenwood where the "bosmer" are mostly of Ayleid ascent. The dwemer could still be out there. The Snow Elves could have more remaining members, and there's a chance the Falmer can be "fixed". The knotrhingi may still be living somewhere deep in black marsh. The lefthanded elves may still live in some small isles of what remains of Yokuda. Now we know that Pelinor shot white death from one hand.... a light of man and that the Ayeid were obsessed with light. It makes sense for a man going into for the kill to shout "LIGHT OF MAN". More than that of an emperor not yet born. Perhaps it makes sense that Reman was named after a momentous event that happened in that area? I'm very worried the Dunmer might be on their way out of the current cycle and since the Hist are from the previous one that could put the Argonians on the chopping block if something were to happen. 4th Era is very dreary and there is about to be huge conflicts probably in Elder Scrolls 6

Eh the argonians should be okay because as long as a creature exists to drink hist sap they are Argonian. Plus the hist exist in other realms as well.

My theory on the title "the singer", maybe he sang during battle? It could also come from the, let's call it voice, of the bow, with the "pling" sound you get from stretched strings, or the "whistling" sound a flying arrow makes. In that way, it could be poetic speach of how skilled he was as an archer, making either his bow or arrows "sing", meaning he could shoot arrows at rapid speed. Or he could have gone the more fantasy route, of using a bow that was stringed like a harp, providing him with several different strings for different distances.

Keep in mind, the Nords associated Dibella, Goddess of beauty with Moths. Maybe the Ayleids did as well, and the Flower King revered the Insect Goddess, the Moth Goddess of beauty.

Cool video! I would argue that the Goat Faced Altar seems more like Clavicus Vile. It could be Molag Bal but by the writing of the Songs of Pelinal he was more lizard-like and just plain demonic, so while poetic license could be applied enough to call that goat faced, Clavicus Vile always showing up as a satyr would definitely work as well. Then there's the title: the Shaper. If this Ayleid King was strongly tied to Clavicus he could be more of a Shaper of Fates as he twists what should happen to his whims and at the same time it would be very fitting of Clavicus to see to it that one of his greatest adherents has his face caved in on his own altar. Also the Flower King I think is more a reference to real life Flower Wars, given the Ayleid's obvious ties to European depictions of Aztec rule. To this day we still tend to think of Flower Wars in the popular imagination as wars that were more about gathering sacrifices than killing your enemy on the battlefield or conquering some patch of land. This is, like quite a bit of the pop culture understanding of Mesoamerican history, inaccurate as they were more like Highly Formalized Wars I would bet he is 'the Flower King' because he would probably launch many wars and campaigns to take captives to sacrifice without ever taking land. I imagine the insect god is probably some aspect of Namira that would empower him or a demi-prince like you suggested.

The Fire King Ayleid kinda makes sense in my opinion, if his city is dedicated to Magnus and whilst he is very much tied to the Stars, he's also commonly referred to as the Sun God and Fire being far closer to Magnus in that perspective compared to Light kinda makes sense for him to be obsessed with if he is indeed a worshipper of Magnus. It's just a different kind of Magnus worship, which honestly was probably super prevalent to begin with considering the Ayleids whole obsession with Stars and Light in the first place.

I know I’m late to the party on this one, but hear me out. What if Umeril’s “father” is Merida before her fall from the Aedra? I mean who’s to say what form or name Merida went by before taking her place among the princes. While I’m no lore scholar, most of what we know about Merida’s fall is speculation…we don’t truly know the how, when, or where. Just thinking out loud lol great vid!

YES, I would love a game set in the Merethic and First Eras! Also, as to Umeril's father, I think The Seven Fights of the Aldudagga (I know, it's not an in-game source, but Bethesda has proved that they use A LOT of Kirkbride's non-ingame writings as lore (especially the Nu-Mantia Intercept)) could shed some light on how he came to survive into the next kalpa. In one of the stories, Alduin gets angry at Lorkhan (called the Greedy Man) and the Leaper Devil King for stealing parts of Nirn and putting them into the next kalpa (the Leaper Devil King is transformed into Merunes Dagon as punishment). Could this be how Umeril's father was able to survive the ending of his kalpa? Because Lorkhan "stole" him and added him back into the next version of Nirn? Which implies he is still around. Maybe he is Syrabane (the Aldmeri god-ancestor of magic) or Phynaster (the god who taught the Aldmer how to live another hundred years).

At some point the man interpretation of Akatosh gained prominence over Auriel in that it was able to bless Elysia. I think it’s because of the torture art. It would leave men with nothing to do except pray for deliverance. That prayer flans desperation fuelled the manish interpretation of the gods.

I would say Namira is the “insect god”. There’s a ton of beautiful, yet foul smelling plants that attract flies. That and I would imagine that she’d be more interested in the sacrifice part. If we don’t know how The Flower King sacrificed his “gifts”, then I easily could see a pond or marsh in the middle of a clearing where he would do it. A marble path leading to a table or alter where the victim/victims would be left to rot, drawing in all manner of carrion bugs and pollinators of the carnivores plants.
