From Then Jerico you have to listen to "Big Area" if possible "Big Area (Lost Mix)" a true No. 1 in Valencian clubs
I have their first 2 cds on my phone. The lead guitaris reminds me of the lead guitarist of scotting band Gun. Both where were brilliant bands around at the same time. I have chatted to the lead singer Mark on facebook about the 2nd album and how it helped me when I moved to London in 1989. He's a nice fella.
That song was a hit in discos in my hometown, Valencia (Spain)

Otro Valenciano por aquí...Si aquí se puso mucho este tema en las discotecas, pero se ponía la Extended Mix o Midnight Mix, que es bastante mejor. Another Valencian here... Yes, this song was played a lot in the clubs here, but the Extended Mix or Midnight Mix was played, which is much bette.
Then Jericho!!!!! Takes me back!
Theses were a really good band, did 2 great albums then disappeared. Went to see them quite a few times back then, they were a great live band, even covered Led Zeppelin’s Trampled Under Foot. Great singer and frontman. Another great band/ album from this period are Cutting Crew again with their first album Broadcast, such a great album from start to finish. So many great bands around this period, these were my teenage years
"Reeling" by then Jericho is jangly guitar rocker. Very U2 esque
I think I liked the Les Claypool ending best. :-) It's Tommy the Cat, right? Liking that 80's sound as you do, I'm pretty sure you'd love the *Major Parkinson* album, *Valesa* , which is set in those times, has some references to Kurt Vonnegut's Cats Cradle in it, and some to Lech Walesa, the leader of Poland's fight for freedom. They don't let themselves be pinned down too specifically, but there's a clear "80's feel", and it's deliberate. Looks like they've scrapped the idea of completing the second and third albums in the series, and gone over to a mixture of surviving by other means, and the occasional concert, now. That's a pity. My impression was that "Volume 2" was going to be yet another radical departure. There's a Valesa playlist on KZread, and isolated tracks. *Saturday Night* is one of those (but I'm pretty certain I've recommended it before). kzread.info/dash/bejne/c5aJvNmAZLO2hLw.html (It gets a bit Depeche Modal at times.)
BRILLIANT....one of my fave bands and fave trax..... They should have been as big as U2 or Simple Minds. Amazing box set coming from Then Jerico the end of August 2024....

@@Owlstretchingtime78 You should listen to their albums, a great band.
At some point, please listen to the song "Katy Song" by the band Red House Painters. It's, unfortunately, a much overlooked band. Katy Song is from 1993 and is somewhat brooding, but the song is quite catchy, especially the last half of the song. It definitely has a unique vibe to it. Please consider it.

Mark Kozelek, yes please! Better than this puerile nonsense.
Aye I remember these guys, I thought they were pretty average but ok.
A little too early for me to have taken any notice of them at the time and too blah for me to have wanted to dig into their back catalogue when I did become musically aware but I reckon tracks like this would have been a pleasant enough diversion on mainstream radio as a reprieve from the latest SAW artist.

Only Just Ariadne. Believe me.
They do sound a bit like Simple Minds.
I have vague memories of this track from '87. Quite liked it. Not as catchy as 'Big Area' but a decent track nevertheless. Probably get a few comments from the music snobs and taste police below informing me that they were generic 80s pop. I'll have to disagree. 1987 was the final year before the decade gave way to acid house and forgettable one-hit wonders until the 90s would try to revive rock with Britpop.
While i agree it is very generic 80s pop, everything has its place, even if it's not my favourite genre. At the time, i was bouncing between Talk Talk and David Sylvian (in my lighter moments) and Killing Joke and Fields of the Nephilim (in my darker...). If you fancy checking out another track of theirs, try Big Area, which i think is a better track.
They called it 'The Big Music'. I call it sub par U2.
What it is is tedious, repetitive, 80's pop chart fodder. You've not heard of them, hmmm, no surprise there, their career can hardly be described as meteoric :)

Personally i find this bland, over produced and instantly forgettable pop.
Generic pop from the late 80s. Sorry, I'll pass...
