I was a Nurse in Bridgend when we had the flood on night duty. . A few of us lived in Maesteg. They sent a fire engine to get us over the bridge , as we went over the bridge the shop widows caved in..we started walking home after a 12hr shift. A kind man stopped & got us all into his car. Never forget that..l have lived in Africa for most of my life. All my family are still there..Thanks for the memories. 😊🇿🇦

So sad to see the soulless green lawn where the Knap Lido used to be. It was more popular among the locals than Barry Island. It brought so much enjoyment to my generation of kids. I'll never understand why it was allowed to be first neglected, then destroyed.

Thank you for your comment. Not sure which building you are referring to. ? was it this one The Watch Tower at the Old Harbour Cold Knap, was built c1865, 20 years prior to the Barry Docks being built, and when the village of Barry only had a population of 85. The WatchTower a two storey building constructed from local limestone. Was used to house a lifeboat, which was used before the RNLI lifeboat station was built at the entrance to Barry Docks at the beginning of the century The ground floor extends back under the ground for a distance of approximately 12 foot. Originally there were double doors on the front of the building with a slipway that went straight out to sea.. This was later changed to the side elevation.

Hello Sir! My band and I wrote a song called "Wanna go Home" (we are just starting out), and I think the photos that you did in this video would be great for a video backdrop to our song. I am Welsh - the lead singer, living in Switzerland, and the song is about Wales. Ok to use your photos? I will give you credit of course. We dont make money.. lol we are musicians.
