Thelma the Unicorn Review | A Bland Movie about a Phony Pony
It’s time for Thelma the Unicorn to face the music. There is not enough singing, pink paint or glitter that could save her Netflix movie. And in this review, I’ll be telling you my reactions to it where I find that Thelma’s attempt of a movie is as generic and bland as it gets.

Moral of the story: Don’t adapt books with a cliché message
Thelma The Unicorn should’ve been a DreamWorks animated movie.
Roughly speaking, this movie was just beating a dead horse for 90 minutes
The story is a mix of Shark Tale and Hannah Montana
If I wanted to see a pony singing, I'd watch My Little Pony.
Animation good or not, can we please admit how cute Thelma’s design and animation is?
I think we owe Despicable Me 4, Garfield and Kungfu Panda 4 an apology.
That Vic Diamond guy, aye. What an absolute Weird Al/Nigel Thornberry/Freak Brothers hybrid creepazoid he was. I swear Jemaine Clement has now become Tim Curry’s protege in the process.
Thelma almost rhymes with Velma
Even I thought it was generic bull crap. Heck I forgot this movie existed. I rather watch The Garfield Movie. Also, I wheezed when you gave it the seal of garbage.
"Don't be boring, don't be corny, find out how to reach your audience."
This movie feels like Hollywood’s “animation is for kids” stereotype notion was turned into an entire film. Even looking at this film without watching it, it screams corporately manufactured. I think it’s best to stick to the original book instead, and just skip this piece of Pony turd
I'm sensing a pattern with Will Forte. The characters he play is often or not in a relationship
The unicorn looks like a unicorn character I made once, especially the crooked horn.
I think my general feelings towards this movie are something along the lines of:
Makes me wonder how Dreamworks would have made this movie instead of Netflix.
Is it just me or is the way this film is handling its moral of “lying to get rich and famous is wrong and you should be happy with who you are” making how Shark Tale handled it 20 years ago look more SUBTLE in comparison? At least Shark Tale, for all its problems, didn’t have Lenny or Angie repeatedly telling Oscar lying is wrong and hammering the message for over 90 minutes.
Also why watch this movie when a better animated movie about Hollywood’s dark side exists with talking animals in the form of Disney’s Bolt.
If you want something that's just beating a dead horse for 90 minutes, Thelma's got you covered!
