These reviews suck. Not everything is a banger Chris. Judging from your movie reviews I wouldn't watch anything directed by you either.
June Squibb is 94 playing a 93 year old. They always cast older to play younger, lol

This astute comment made me laugh! Well done.
I really can't say enough about Thelma. It was as humorous as it was poignant. The movie didn't spell out the all the complex themes it conveyed, just showed. It's the first movie I've watched in a long time that felt important.
June Squibb is already 94 years old and has been in the entertainment industry (mainly Broadway theater and movie) for 7 decades and it's kinda sad how she doesn't get enough credit for her work. The last major work that she had done that recieved huge acclaim was in Alexander Payne's Nebraska which gain her first ever Oscar nomination. I wish people would recognise her even more, she's absolutely delightful to watch on screen. It's a little bit shocking how "Thelma" is her very first leading role in her long decade career

Man, now I do wanna see more of her work cause you're right, she needs herself an Oscar or a mention after this movie and all past work she's done.

Oscars 😂😂😂 get fucked
My Grandma almost got scammed out of 400 dollars last year but thankfully she was able to stop herself from sending it. I think this movie can relate to a lot of people and hopefully Gram and I can see it together.
Squibb was also Nostalgia in Inside Out 2.... What a talent.
Looking at the title, I legitimately thought this was a "Thelma & Louise" spin off movie focusing on Thelma herself 😂

Looking at the poster and the horn looking thing, I was wondering what it had to do with Thelma the Unicorn.

It's not??
Just saw this for my birthday a few weeks after getting back from my grandmother's funeral. Such a whiplash of emotions, cackling at one scene only to be brought to tears five seconds later. So good.
Thelma has been one of the best surprises of the year for me, and I would absolutely love if June Squibb got an Oscar nomination for her role!

That’s a silly question. I do, if you hadn’t noticed the username. And as Chris even mentions the Oscars in this very video, I’m assuming he also thinks it would be cool to see June nominated.
ONLY ONE CRITIC listed on RT didn't like this film, evidently because the protagonist is an elderly woman who he contends cannot be the focus of a "silly fantasy where she's "doing dumb action stuff." Since those stories have been a staple of Hollywood for just about forever, I guess if she were middle-aged or younger, it'd be worthwhile. A dumb review any way you slice it by SEAN BURNS.

When you look at his reviews he dislikes almost everything... but he gave a positive review to Jason Stathams Beekeper LOL.
These scammers are horrible. I hope this film brings more awareness - especially to older people who are the scammer's favorite target.

This movie basically sounds like The Beekeeper but if Jason Stathum was replaced by a 90+-year old woman, and so I’m immediately sold from that alone.

And without the ultra violence and action as that movie.
this is literally one of the best flicks of the year.
She reminded me so much of my grandma it hit me in the heartstrings. She laughed like her at one point and it was so bittersweet. I’m gonna drag my parents to see it with me
I went to see this with a friend tonight who had never heard of this film and we both absolutely loved it. We both agree that it might be our favorite of the year so far.
I was on vacation in Orlando and the AMC at Disney Springs was doing a screening of an upcoming movie but didn’t reveal what it was. I was very confused and surprised when the movie turned out to be Thelma but the movie is genuinely so sweet, funny, and well done across the board. Highly recommend this one!
I loved this movie. It was an AMC screen unseen (mystery movie) and I was delighted it was Thelma.
I was so lucky to meet her at the sf festival for the qna. The movie was so fun watching with an audience.
I hope this got released in my country somehow. Looks like a good one to watch with my mom. We're in constant war with call center scammers.
Mike with Red Letter Media would love this film.
So happy that you reviewed this movie Chris. I saw it over the weekend and it reminded me so much of my grandmother. Needs more attention for sure.
Outstanding movie. One of my favorites of the year so far.
im glad movies like this still get made. gonna see it soon.
Chris truly is the King of t-shirts
When she slipped on the stairs...felt that.
“I had that feeling where I realized there really are still great new ideas…”. Thank you Chris. You give us all hope that really great movies can still be made.
I saw this this weekend and it was just so delightful. I also laughed tons of times. Made me think about how all the elderly feel in my life and made me want to treat them with more agency
My Grandma nearly got scammed once. Phone scammers, especially those who go after the elderly, are some of the most evil people out there. I have such a deep hatred for them so I hope the guy really gets what's coming to him in the movie.
I used my last AMC A-List ticket for this week, and it was worth it. The movie was delightful, and I adored June Squibb in this role.
Driving Miss Daisy 2, Daisy don't take no shit.
I wish this was released in the fall so it could have a better chance at awards for Squibb and Roundtree
This reminds me of my grandmother even though she never got caught by a phishing scam.
I noticed a poster for this at the theater this past weekend when I was there to see the Ghost Rite Here Rite Now event and was curious, I hadn't heard of it previously. You've genuinely convinced me to want to go see it.
It was such an unexpectedly funny, relatable and memorable movie. Highly recommended for all ages.
I really hope people go see and support this movie, we don't get much movies like this anymore atleast not in theaters, very much reminds me of 90s or even early 2000s kind of movies
Saw this movie and it made me laugh harder than any film I have seen in theaters in a while. The audience I was with laughed throughout the film too which I don’t see happen to often. A big gem of a movie.
I saw this movie in my theater, and I was the only young guy there because the audience was mostly elderly (which was like 3-4 couples in my theater). This movie had me laughing. I do recommend this movie, whether you're young or old. You'll understand all the struggles.
Thank @ Chris! I want to see it!
Okay you literally just talked me into checking it out 🙂 thanks so much 💯🙏
Bro put a review on kalki 2898 ad i heard it’s a next level movie
The Beekeeper, but slightly more realistic. I'm pretty excited about this movie.
I got to see this movie at sundance and it was amazing. I took my grandma to see it opening night and it was such a fun experience. Remember to reach out and hangout with your grandma when you can!!
One of my favorites of the year. Also, PLEASE watch and review Hundreds of Beavers!
It’s such a good movie. Made my heart hurt a lot, with my grandmother having some of the same feelings, it was surprisingly sad.
Ive seen this yesterday. Worth the laughs and heartfelt moments, too. 😎
Saw this over the weekend. Total blast and one to remember!
could you say potential another tons of nomination next award season
You definitely deserve more recognition for this!
Saw it last week and absolutely loved it.
This looks fantastic. Thanks for the review! For a another movie featuring a Senior Lead, I highly recommend the films Lucky Grandma, and Robot and Frank.
It's my favorite of 2024 so far (out of only 7 movies watched but still!). It's light and full of laughs
I really want to see this now!
Bless both women, truly inspiring!
saw it yesterday and loved it. posting my own review later tonight
You need to review a quiet place day one!!!!! I MUST KNOW ARE WE IN THE SAME BOAT HERE 🥴😂
People are gonna sleep on this movie, understandably. But it was so good - terrific cast
Thank you for the review.
Some funny parts, but also some parts that reminded me of my Mom who has passed away. While we like to think Seniors are active, they are not always and the fragility in the movie is definitely true. The grandson saying he would miss Thelma when she dies made me tear up and hit close to home. Not a bad movie, but not great either.
This is taking a a different spin on the geezer teaser. 😛
Thank you for bringing attention to this movie, it was so feel good and clever!
Thelma was the first original movie I've seen in ages. It was a JOY. How nice that it wasn't a prequel or sequel and didn't star some 30 something guy. GO SEE THIS MOVIE
I watched this as an AMC unseen movie earlier this month. It’s quite an enjoyable film.
And here I thought this was going to be a throwback review of the excellent 2017 Norwegian film Thelma...
Solid movie but not 99% on Rotten Tomatoes great in my opinion. The last act was awesome though

The ticket is sold!
Dude, when is “your” movie coming out?
Ya think with what we've been though collectively the past 4 years... people would value eachother differently.
this sounds intriguing
I am really looking forward to seeing this film! ❤
I thought he was reviewing Velma oh god
With a few tweaks to the script, this could have been a rollicking parody/comedy of The Beekeeper
On one hand, June Squibb was great. On the other hand, I kinda wish the 94 years old lady was played by Jason Statham and that this happened in the Beekeeper universe.
This movie left me in tears 😭
Top 5 Animated intros 1: The Real Ghostbusters 2: X-Men = X-Men’97 3: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4: Batman 5: Duck Tales
I will definitely go see this movie- I laughed out loud while listening to your review 🇨🇦

Loved the movie; just one complaint. *WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW* … . . . . . Even if we ignore the whole “find my iPhone” technology unaddressed in this film, Thelma inadvertently posted something to Instagram while she was out and about. Why didn’t her family try calling her cell phone during all this? I mean, I know, the watch served as a narrative device and all, but…gaaaaahhhhh i loved this movie but can’t ignore this plot hole unless i actually missed something
