I also think that Dooo blew musicians away by doing something that most others with a talkbox seemingly never tried. Dooo proved that it's possible to play whole chords through the device and not just single notes.

I watch reaction videos for multiple reasons. Biggest two is to just hear others opinions and to possibly enjoy something with someone else even if it isn't together or if you even know each other. It's sometimes like watching with a friend. Other reasons is that you can learn something sometimes. Different people have different knowledge of subjects and you might just learn something especially if the reactor has expertise in what he is reacting too

My fav from this video was his rendition of Groove Tonight fro Earth Wind and Fire. That chick was so loaded, I don't think she even realized he changed the lyrics up!🤣

Actually, Eddie never used it himself, it was his guitar technician who used it for the recording. 😉

talkboxes are the closest approximation to sound changing with your mouth for string or other non-orchestral instruments in the same way brass players do with their embouchure. Ive played euphonium and tuba for 12 years and its very much the same in regards to being able to shape the sound with different movements and shapes of your mouth

This might be 8 months overdue, but I have enjoyed watching you reactions due to your clear knowledge about music and guitaring. I am not musical at all, but I know for sure that The Doo should be filling stadiums... Hearing your perspective on this fucking guy is fun as hell

I’m telling ya the Dooo is straight comedy

Play any sound/song on your phone, then point the speaker of your phone right into your mouth and just make mouth shapes. That will give you the gist of a talk-box.

I think I liked the 24K cover the most with the talk box

Minus the guitar technical stuff, you guys had the exact same reaction I did seeing Dooo's latest video. I think it's the first one that has made me laugh until tears while also being amazed!

Talkbox. Everything from the guitar goes into a pedal. The pedal has an air tube that goes in your mouth. The microphone uses your mouth as a sound stage and broadcasts this WAAAHH situation. You don't speak through it, but you mimic the consonants and breaks. Clicks and pops ... C's, K's, T's, G's and P's. He doesn't SAY magic, but he forms the word like he was about to say it without speaking.

If the dooo watches this reaction which he does bc he watches their vids, much love dude, the new tech is awesome and glad you could find more tools for content. Also, im in your discord lol. Cheers from a fellow musician.

Talkboxes are neat. Your voice normally provides the vowel sounds, and your mouth shape makes the consonant sounds. With a Talkbox, the instrument is what provides the vowel sounds, and you just need to mouth the words like you're enunciating for your half-deaf grandma. With a tube in your mouth. I wouldn't call it easy, but it's definitely simple.

Just found you guys. Love your reactions to the dooo. Just reminds me of two food friends watching a video together for the first time and not for a video, just hanging out. Keep it up!

Do you feel like we do by Frampton is a great showcase for the use of a talkbox. Frampton used it quite a lot in his songs.

This is late, but the guitarist who used the talk box a lot was Joe Walsh, who was the guitarist for the Eagles and then went solo.

I haven't heard anyone use a voucebox very much since Peter Frampton.

Peter Frampton was the most renowned person to use a talk box years ago. Namely in the song "Do you feel like we do"

Other guitarist you guys were talking about that used it alot back in the day was Peter Frampton. Feel like i do is most known song using it along with singing words as well

The only time I've seen a talkbox used live is with Leo Leoni of Gotthard when playing Mountain Mama and a few other songs. Didn't know it was called a talkbox until The Dooo's video was released though.

The guitar goes into the talkbox. The sound from the guitar comes out through the clear tube and into your mouth. You then mouth the words to whatever you are singing into a voice mic and you play the notes on the guitar. You then get the sound

Bridge pickup is generally the brightest sounding (more treble) while the neck pickup has a rounder sound (more mid n bass). I use the neck for a creamy solo tone and the bridge for rhythm (metal guy).

Edit: Okay, I see he explains it later too. Basically it plays into your mouth through a tube, you shape your mouth to "speak" the noise (like your voice box would, but it's coming from the tube instead), and that gets picked up by a mike.

I still have an old Zoom 40/40 or is it a 20/20? I dont know it's in the closet, I'm not looking. Anywho, it's an effects processor that had talk box simulation on it. The way that worked was it played the sound back through a head set. Y ol u spoke into a mic connected to the headset then that became the output signal. So you actually needed to stay away from a mic when using it. It worked pretty well once you got the hang of it.

Never once claimed to be a guitar player, first of all. I’m a drummer. So jot that down. Also, why would we ruin a chance for one of our viewers to enlighten us with something we didn’t already know? We’d rather hear from our viewers than google some simplistic answer. Thanks for the view though!
