Theater Talk: Elaine Stritch's 88th Birthday Bash!

Ойын-сауық

We celebrate the 88th birthday of the great star Elaine Stritch. Joining us along with Stritch herself are her good friends, music director Rob Bowman, and actor Hunter Ryan Herdlicka who appeared with Stritch in "A Little Night Music" on Broadway. In a freewheeling conversation, Stritch reminisces fondly about a number of people and things of significance including Stephen Sondheim, Bela Lugosi, and the gift basket that Alec Baldwin sent her after she injured her hip.
Taped: 2-1-2013
Theater Talk is a series devoted to the world of the stage. It began on New York television in 1993 and is co-hosted by Michael Riedel (Broadway columnist for the New York Post) and series producer Susan Haskins.
The program is one of the few independent productions on PBS and now airs weekly on Thirteen/WNET in New York and WGBH in Boston. Now, CUNY TV offers New York City viewers additional opportunities to catch each week's show. (Of course, Theater Talk is no stranger to CUNY TV, since the show is taped here each week before its first airing on Thirteen/WNET.)
The series is produced by Theater Talk Productions, a not-for-profit corporation and is funded by contributions from private foundations and individuals, as well as The New York State Council on the Arts.

Elaine Stritch was and is one of the greats of Show Business. I wish that more of the 'pop' culture knew more about her. A true Broadway Baby and night club performer. But I guess you can't burn the candle at both ends. She was happy in her career and nobody did it better. Rest peacefully Elaine and God bless your soul.

I read a biography about her recently that was in the Library, and she later thought that moving back to Michigan was a mistake. She missed the hustle and bustle of New York...

It was pretty clear to me when I saw this show the first time, that Elaine must have some personal news regarding her health, going back to Detroit completed the circle. She tells of the event of moving to New York at age 18 at the train station with her parents . Returning completes the circle. Pure Elaine.
