Theater Talk- Dame Edna Everage, Becky Mode and Mark Setlock

Dame Edna Everage, the internationally famous housewife, talk show host, spin doctor and icon, shares her world view and talks about her new Broadway show "Dame Edna: The Royal Tour" at the Booth Theatre.
Following Dame Edna, October 29, are actor Mark Setlock and playwright Becky Mode to discuss "Fully Committed," Mode’s new hit play at The Vineyard Theatre. In what Donald Lyons of The New York Post calls “a comic epic,” Setlock plays the reservations clerk of a chic New York restaurant, as well as over 35 different people he interacts with on the phone during one hectic day on the job.
Tape Date: 10/21/1999
Theater Talk is a series devoted to the world of the stage. It began on New York television in 1993 and is co-hosted by Michael Riedel (Broadway columnist for the New York Post) and series producer Susan Haskins.
The program is one of the few independent productions on PBS and now airs weekly on Thirteen/WNET in New York and WGBH in Boston. Now, CUNY TV offers New York City viewers additional opportunities to catch each week's show. (Of course, Theater Talk is no stranger to CUNY TV, since the show is taped here each week before its first airing on Thirteen/WNET.)
The series is produced by Theater Talk Productions, a not-for-profit corporation and is funded by contributions from private foundations and individuals, as well as The New York State Council on the Arts.

Barry Humphries is so witty and with a razor sharp mind. How many of today's so called comedians can be described the same?

RIP Barry. Sir Les, and the wonderful Dame! What a comic genius you were-and how lucky I was to have taken my Mom to this very show. She and I loved every minute. I am still hoping this is just another temporary retirement, and suddenly the Dame will be back in a 'Return from Beyond Show'. One can dream...

What I like is that Dame Edna is believable as a person. Being an older lady myself, I can relate to her. Why, my friend Jeannie and I waft into the grocery story in our lovely dresses, our hats and scarves, and the people step back and make way for us. Sometimes we lose track of each other, because we are so brainless, until I hear Jeannie’s shrill voice crying out, “Patricia Dahling! Come here and see this beautiful cheese!” We are so easily amused. And we were not copying Dame Edna. It appears she is copying us. And what a nice lady she is.

Dame Edna reminds me of an older/mature lady that lived down the road when I was kid in Melbourne, Australia. The way this lady dressed, spoke & facial expressions..eerily similar to Edna. 🤣🤣🤣

Saw that Edna Show she talks about on 57th St in the 70's - right along the CBS Studios and near the River - she could only go up from there - thanks Ed for all the laughs
