Hi Rob, I really appreciate you and what you are doing. Some people do not understand the importance of this channel's role! It provides liquidity and a 2nd market for the knife community with trust, transparency, and integrity. Qualities that are rare to find in this world. Without platforms like this, the knife community would be like a dead pond. If people cannot appreciate this and stay the cause, then yes, their business is too dumb & stinky to keep :-) We apprecite you, fine gentleman!

Hi Rob, I don’t usually chime in with my 2 cents, but I’ve got to on this one. I am a long time seller on Robs channel. I have never had a problem with Rob or his seller/buyer practices. I usually just send a pile of knives to him and let him figure out the pricing. Never once have I felt like he treated me unfairly. You just have to understand what it means when he says “priced to sell”. He takes all 3 parties into consideration, buyer, seller, and himself. The buyer saves a little, the seller gets a little, and he makes a little commission. That’s 3 winners in my book. If knives were to sit there for weeks and not sell, then it wouldn’t be worth his time. What we get out of it is his expertise while showing the knives. Where else can you get a knowledgeable third party opinion about the action, centering, and overall condition of a knife before you buy it. Every knife that I’ve sold through Rob has been accurately described and fairly priced for all parties. Thank you Rob for all you do for the knife community.

I’d love to throw my two-cents in. Rob has done what most of us are too lazy to do. He has been sharpening knives for a very long time. He found a way to build that business on KZread, which is incredible on its own. Then introducing the first weekly knife sale, building that business up and becoming a trusted seller of used and new knives and EDC items. Heck I just started my KZread channel and we are already behind on content. It isn’t easy to be so machine like, lol. Rob, you have built the business up as a trust module. We the consumers that have purchased from you, or used your sharpening service know that you are an honest hardworking person. Now for me personally there is also the fact that you’re a Brother in Christ. Please don’t get negative on this one in the comments unless you would like to be prayed for, because all that will do is get me to pray for you without asking ;). Anyways, the years of consistency, of doing what you say you’ll do of being who you are. I mean heck, my first purchase with you I asked a question about the exclusivity of a knife and you credited me a few bucks without me asking. That’s just who Rob is. So for me, I will gladly play by Rob’s rules. They work for him, in turn which works for us. Not one of them is in-reasonable. To all of you who support the Apostle Pete brand and Rob personally, I thank you. To all of us together whom purchase from this channel either knife sharpening or a knife, to all of you whom just love looking at the best knives that move through the channel week after week… I thank you all. God Bless you all and God Bless you Rob. I look forward to my next purchase. The Boba Fett Microtech arrived so fast I thought you bought a Time Machine Buddy!! Been using it all week. @carryorbury here on KZread.

It certainly hurts when you make an emotional purchase only to regret it months later and realize that your high dollar custom purchase won't return the purchase price plus some like you thought but the high dollar inflated asking prices on ebay and these online marketplaces are ridiculous and borderline predatory to those who don't know better. Glad to hear you standing on your morals with your sales and business practices, too many don't and would have gladly jumped at the idea of selling them for name recognition in their sale. Cheers from cloudy Central Indiana, specifically beautiful Kokomo!

Making emotional purchases is why you see people on BST groups/forums unloading piles of knives and EDC pocket junk daily due to buyers remorse. FOMO is a sickness in this country and everybody needs to recoup their overspending when the bills arrive in the mail. Logic need not apply here. Well said as always, Rob.

you brought up a lot of great points in this video. Don't buy knives on credit, follow the consigner rules as they can/should be able to choose who they do business with, and don't expect to make money buying customs. When I first got into the hobby many makers kept their prices at a low price to increase demand at their lotteries. This was resulting in some knives selling for 1.5x-5x table price. Makers now are much less likely to have a table price considerably less than market as a maker who spent hours making a knife should not be earning less than the person who happened to buy it at a show. At the same time, people have gotten use to marking up table prices on everything.

It's important to remind people that they need to make themselves worth your while. Their wants and preferences do not just automatically assume precedence in your life. Its okay to tell them you understand where they are coming from and why, but you are not interested in that type of business as it has no benefit to you.

I've seen a lot of prices on various marketplaces ecently that are way off the mark. Seems like the hobby got an influx of new folks over the last few years...their interest has waned and now they want to offload their used knives for close to retail. Or if they paid for mods, they think they should be able to recoup those costs. Or, as you pointed out, they want to try offset transaction costs. Then they wonder why their knives just sit there! Really appreciated your previous video on the state of the knife market - it was a very realistic and informed perspective on used knife pricing if you actually want your knives to sell!

I have nothing but the best memories of buying or selling with or from you. My only regret is that I have a closet full of very nice knives that I truly love but they only give me joy once or twice a year when I take them out and look at them. I never bought them to make a profit. I so want to box them all up and let you sell them for me but I’ve been saying that for years. Many years actually but I’m still not willing to let go. Hey Rob have you ever updated your sharpening prices since 2014. I can’t find a video on your playlist since the original one. I know shipping at least has gotten more expensive. Thanks, Chip Lape.

As an alarm set weekly watcher and pretty frequent buyer, there’s a number of reasons I tune in. Obviously I appreciate things being priced to sell, being able to fully view the item, always a good selection of USA made goods and at least a few hard to find items but equally to those reasons is the fact that the rules are set and the transaction is simple. No haggling, no back and forth, no shipping consideration, no worry of getting scammed, just an “I’ll take it” and it comes to my door. So because of that I’ve always felt it was my responsibility as a buyer to follow the rules and make things equally as simple for you. Thank you for what you do Rob!

I see very often where people try to get into knives selling as a hustle. Sometimes brands like Microtech are limited additions and they sell out quickly but as soon as they sell out, they are available on site like Arizona custom knives most likely 50% or 100% above cost. I know they sell on commission as well but I believe it’s at 25%. I haven’t purchased any knives from you yeah but I watch your channel often. I just haven’t figured out how to get into your purchasing plan yet. I am visually impaired, so I have problems reading some things if they are not in the right text. I look forward to your next video and perhaps shopping in the future.

Great discussion filled with excellent points. It's a shame that some people try to abuse such a valuable service. These same people need to understand that an asking price for a knife like theirs, that has not sold yet, is NOT the perceived value of that knife. Perceived value ONLY occurs when a buyer & seller ( with or without a dependable trustworthy agent like you Rob ) agrees upon a price and that knife sells. Heck, every book on knives that I've purchased & studied say the same thing. Thanks for all you do Rob.

I have always seen your knife sales as a convenience-service to the knife community. I only have 1 or two other people in my circles that know anything at all about pocket knives, so selling a knife would be an online crap-shoot for me, at best. I don't buy any knife as an investment, I buy them to enjoy them and when the joy is diminished, I sell them. If they happen to be collectable or appreciate in value, cool. Most of them don't and I end up "losing" 30% or more when I sell, but I don't see that money as lost really. It's the cost of my enjoyment of the hobby, just like guns, cars, trading cards, etc. Also, I trust you are not ripping anyone off because you have repeat sale and sharpening customers going back years (including me). So if you were crooked, the word would've got out by now and your sale videos would flop, but they don't. All that to say, thanks for your work in the knife community. I have appreciated it for years and will be a customer as long as you are around 👍

You really do a very fine job. Thank you very much. But here's my question. Didn't you once advise that consignment knives should be initially priced at 20%-25% off the current retail new price unless pretty much unobtainable new or on the secondary market? I've always put mine up on your sale at that sort of 20% discount....(except for a few GEC Knives where I've been able to obtain a premium purchase price). So is that what you mean by pricing the knives "to sell" (i.e. starting at 25% off the current retail price.)? P.s. Keep up the great work and service my friend.
