Cool music. Damn, there's too much music to explore it all.

Starting out on my composing career this piece, along with Australian composer Don Banks' Horn Concerto, and the orchestral music of John Mccabe, had a great influence on me as regards texture and timbre.

Absolutely spectacular. It reminds me of Elliott Carter, if he had written a more traditional clarinet concerto than his highly original one.

Only Musgrave had this piece published in 1969, while Carter wrote his concerto in 1996. Maybe the Carter ought to remind us of the Musgrave.

you are right he is playing with Scottish national orchestra under Alexander Gibson. There is another recording of it and it is much brighter sounding recording.

I'm fairly sure it's the LSO playing this. The title says so. There is a CD that has Musgrave's concerto on it with the RSNO as well, but the latter aren't playing in the concerto. With all respect to the RSNO the playing is better here.
