The1977 AMV8 restoration Finale, Vid #4 music for Aston Martin Lovers. I'll be seeing you?

Музыка

This is the last in the series detailing the restoration of a 1977 Aston Martin V8 which took me from March 2016 until April 2019 to complete. The first three videos in the series focused more on specifics ie engine, suspension, brakes ect, whereas this video is more of a chronological ( sorta ) overview of the whole project from start to finish, with more of an emphasis on the finished car. A big shout out to Mike Grams and the crew down at Coachwerks who did such an amazing job on the body, paint and trim. To the great guys at Cords who did all my machine shop work. All mechanicals including Xpack motor, five speed manual box conversion, suspension and brake upgrades, carried out by me ( Aston Martin Services. ) at Copsewood Garage. I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a special shout out to John McKay for the great pictures and to my first call go to guys, for all things automotive, Fred Tutte and Rhys thank you guys and the best tow truck driver ever on the planet Andy Jones at Topnotch towing. As always a big thank you to my band mates Tony Genge piano and Don Cox bass, featured on most of my channel music vids, who so generously give of their time and talent and of course to Ron Pugh who so generously setup my home recording studio, recorded us and did such a good job of the mixing and editing. Thank you Ron mate..

Well done ! I have completed two total AMV8 restorations over my past years and I know it takes a great deal of thought, effort, bodily fluids, beer and all the money you never knew you had! Forward !

Thx fer the comments. I've restored my own AMV8 twice and the car featured in the video was a full resto with very specific be-spoked requirements by the customer. It was quiet the project. I suspect my last ( I'm just getting too old? ) And yea eye watering money, lotsa blood, sweat, tears, and a hernia, sustained while I was building the engine, that needed surgery half way through the job oh joy..

Thank you . I don't know of any currently for sale in my area, but check out Classic. Com there's usually more than a few available on that site that are listed as project cars usually in the $50K range and that's a lota car for $50K when you consider what you'll pay for a well sorted TR of Healey or Morgan or EType these days..

Thanks for your comments. Believe it or not if they are well maintained they are pretty dependable.. The problem for guys like me, is that I can't afford to buy them new, I have to buy them secondhand and that usually means I'm inheriting somebody else's problems, that I then have to fix? The factory installed ZF five speed box, albeit a rather sloppy gate ( I liken it to a stick in a suet pudding ), is actually a very good strong gearbox. I've installed a modern 6 speed in a customer's car and he complained that the 1st gear was real short? The engines are very strong and the rear end is a De Dion set up which for all intense purposes is IRS. The addition of a Steelwings or Harvey Bailey handling kit with an added rear anti sway bar makes for much improved handling. Having said that they handled pretty well outa the box. The good news is there's a whole cottage industry that's developed supplying lotsa after market parts and "upgrades" which will hopefully keep these cars on the road for the enthusiast's for years to come..
