I really, really like the original. The Zutons were rocking then and are still rocking with Amy. Respect from this Jamaican/Canadian.

At the beginning of Amy's Glastonbury 2007 concert she calls The Zutons one of her favorite bands and credits them. If there was no rivalry between them and she was classy enough to praise them, why are so many comments concerned with not only expressing their favorite, but so often find it necessary to put the other down. Amy is arguably one of the best female singers and greatest performers and she calls them one of favorite bands. Everyone should calm down. What's the difference which version is "better"?

Had a lovely afternoon with Dave this afternoon, a few bevvys, a few laughs and total admiration for an under loved, under appreciated musician of the highest order. The guy is a cosmic dude and a pleasure knowing him all these years.

The slow tempo is actually one of my favorite parts because of how it feels "Heavy" in a sense, giving it a unique sound.

Harry Greaves but the same goes for most covers that have surpassed the popularity of the original song, for instance when you search “hurt” you almost never see nine inch nails, but Johnny cash instead, “I will always love you” shows Whitney Houston not the original Dolly Parton, make you feel my love never pops up as bob Dylan but you see Adele .. just the way it works

@@rileysummers484 You forgot 'Proud Mary', which everyone associates with Tina and Ike Turner rather than Credence Clearwater Revival.

This version and Amy's version are completely different. This one is more rock while Amy's was more soul. Therefore it's clearly logical for people to like one over the other since everyone had a preferred genre. I thnk both are really great in different ways.

I really like both versions! Amy twist on the original fits her style so well but I can see why she was inspired to cover it in the first place. It is a really lovely song :)

+Michelle Herrera It would be like comparing Toots & The Maytal's Monkey Man to Amys... or the Clash's.... or Reel Big Fish's. Original is the slowest, Amy's is the most upbeat, RBF is the fastest/hardest, Clash's is the grimiest (i think its produced at a lower quality but it gives it a distinct 'live' sound) I'll have my own favourite of the different ones, but would never say one is 'better' than the other. I had listened to the Amy version a LOT over the past couple years, this is the first time I actually looked for the original.. and I'm surprised at how much I do like it despite it sounding SOOO different. Still probably prefer the Amy version, but that's just blatant homer-ism on my part... this version is still pretty kick ass!

When speaking of Power Pop then "power" doesn't always mean crunch. It's in the arrangement -- horns and percussion in this case.

I've been seeing an Alexa add and kept thinking "I know this song, but why?" FINALLY clicked last night as I was falling asleep.... IT'S THE ZUTONS!!

I am so sad that this is the first time I’ve ever heard of this song. I only knew of Amy’s version which I had on replay all the time since it’s one of my favorite songs but to now realize this is the original 🤯 I love both now

Unlike my peers, I remember this original version first time round. My life in 2006: no pandemic, economy booming, great music like this, hope for the future. My life in 2022: multiple diseases running rampant, recession fears, war in Ukraine threatening food security to the rest of Europe, trap galore, recurring depressive episodes.

The way the song is written is straight out of the 50's

Zuton’s all day. Ronson’s version was created for the lame London scene bitd. This is full of soul.

Why do people have to compare the 2 versions and state that one is better than the other? Both are fucking awesome!!! Leave it at that ffs.

I met Abi at a Half man half biscuit gig where she was guesting for the support act. She's a goddess. She asked me for a light and I obliged. Mouth was dry and I lost all words except "yeah, sure".

it’s so nice to hear someone sing the line “did you get a good lawyer” normally. amy winehouse had some incredible voice but she’s got a lot to answer for with that line.

Loved this whole album when it was released, working in a music store back then and I fell in love for the first time one week after this album came out, but unfortunately she left me a few years ago 😭 so it's difficult listening to any music from 2006 - 2013 😭

Sometimes creative genius takes decades and sometimes it gets written in a 20 minute cab ride. what an awesome result from those 20 minutes.

WOW!! Never realised that the Zutons made this. Always a shame to find out that a remake of a song has done better than the original no matter which you prefer. Feels like the original artist got betrayed. Love both versions.
