It's pretty basic now adays, as long as the recipient is level or behind the two players when receiving the ball, it's not offside

Only problem I have is when you're trying to determine an offside call, the freeze frame needs to be the last frame before the ball leaves the passers foot.

OR, when a player is a few yards onside, as Pedro Santos was in the 85th minute vs. LAFC, yet still gets flagged. Just awful.

This is actually incorrect, it needs to be the first frame when it touches their foot. From the 2018-19 Laws of the Game: "*The first point of contact of the ‘play’ or ‘touch’ of the ball should be used." It is a little bit counterintuitive but they added that into the Laws when they introduced VAR because that point is much easier for them to pick out on video.

Keeper was the one who walked towards Zlatan, he wanted to provoke a reaction, he got one. I would have booked the keeper for inciting the incident but Zlatan should have got red for raising hands (and grabbing neck)

On the Glad one.. yes its a bad tackle, but I think its a yellow because he got the ball while it was at least a foot away from the opposing player

Honestly, even if some ref says "no foul play on", I won't raise any objection to it. He was playing the ball and he played the ball, with feet close enough to the pitch. But I also understand if some ref calls it and show a yellow card. It is basically how refs interpret the laws.

"Studs up" is stupid. Not sure how you're supposed to make a sliding tackle without your studs raised at least a little bit, and in this case Glad has his foot tilted down a little. This play should never be a red card in my mind and the rules need to change.

I was confused on why all of the colorado players reacted like that was a foul, obviously the RSL defender made a clean tackle and got the ball, as far as i know that's not a foul but the commentator thinks otherwise about it cause of God knows what, i don't think he's really the type of guy who should be commentating if he doesn't know the rules that well P.s sorry if my grammars are wrong, english is not my first language

It's so weird that you keep bringing up precedent. There are set rules in the sport and the referees are allowed to make decisions based on the rules and always their interpretation. That’s not an angle for using var so it’s not definitely onside, just look at the lines in the grass. The 4:52 time stamp is a bit before he passes it, you have to play it a millisecond more and pause.

Most American referees have no concept of the spirit of the laws. There seems to be a new law about hand ball which is contrary to the spirit of the law. If you want to make any touch from the shoulder to the finger tips a hand ball it makes me sick. We have been playing this game for 200 years and now you want to change the hand ball rule? The spirit of the laws indicate a hand ball has to be deliberate, the hand has to play the ball not the ball playing the hand .This smells of American influence? Same about the goalkeeper having a foot on the line during a penalty kick. The women’s World Cup France takes a penalty, misses the goal kick is retaken because the goalkeeper moves foot off line a half inch? Ludicrous. Americans like black and white rules no judgment. So now all a player needs to do is get close to a defender in the penalty area and deliberately kick or head the ball at the defenders arms and instant penalty. The arms are a big target. Leave the rules alone.t

Glad’s tackle was completely clean, didn’t touch the player, only one foot in on the tackle, he was on the ground not off both feet as Warshaw says and the studs were not raised. There is no other way to complete a straight on tackle without exposing the studs at least somewhat

I am a Galaxy fan but Ibra should have been sent off that, however Johnson was CLEARLY baiting him after the shot Johnson was chest bumping into him and getting in his face then put his arm around the back of Zlatan‘ head and pulled him to the floor to look like Zlatan through him down. If you suspend one, you should suspend them both because Johnson clearly manufactured this.

The Cincinnati vs mtl highlight isn’t an offside. The contact with the ball of the passer happens when the player being denied the goal is onside. If you look at most of Barca’s goals during the era of David Villa Messi and Pedro, you will see many of such goals. But well, there’s a grey line there.
