My cousin was to be ordained at age 25 but was given a one year to serve at the Bishopric, and was ordained at age 26. He was ordained 1996 marked his 25year( silver jubilee ) Last year and is 52yrs this year. Check it out. Because both of his parents were headmaster/ teacher, he started earlier.

It is very possible to be ordained at 25 or 26. I for instance started JS 1 at 10years and graduated secondary school at 16 years of age. If I had gone to the major seminary immediately, I would've been ordained at 25 (9years formation). However, I went to the seminary 3 years later (@19 years) and was ordained at 28. It is possible then to graduate from the seminary at that young age. After all, there's no strike action that might drag you back

Point of correction, Cardinal Arinze was not ordained a priest at age 32 as you claimed. He was rather ordained a Bishop at age 32,33.

There are still a few men ordained at 25 which had been the typical age. I know of a number of men who had been ordained a transitional diaconate at 23 after their Ordinary (bishop) petitioned the Holy See (Congregation or Dicastory of Clergy office in Rome). Then six months later they submitted their petition to be ordained a priest at 24. Canon law has some flexibility with ages and the window between transitional diaconate and priesthood. This window is six months but I know of a few who were ordained deacons in December and allowed to be ordained priests 3 months later.

That is possible to be a priest at 26. 6 years primary school, 6 years secondary school, 4 years major seminary, 4 years to fully be ready for ordination. 6 years pre- primary education. It's possible. There are Priests who are either Diocesan ( ordained for a particular diocese) or a religious ( e.g Dominican or Jesuit). More importantly, it is not necessarily a requirement to enter the major seminary from minor seminary. In other words, some validly ordained catholic priest enter the major seminary immediately after secondary school.

Why did he join the Priesthood? The right age for Ordination is from the age of 24 stipulated in the Cannon Law. He may have done mystical and spiritual power out of the ordinary. The required Canonical age in the Catholic Church for someone to be ordained a Priest is 25. Refer...(Canon 1031). He would not have been ordained below the said age. Thanks for sharing and best wishes to Father in his ministry.
