Now the longest drought in the NRL - dating back to when Tina Turner and the ARL were still a twinkle in rugby league's eye - the Parramatta Eels have had many chances to break their premiership drought.
None closer than the story Dean Widders has to tell, though.

He missed the worst one, 2001
Parramatta should have won in 2005. 2001 was the obvious answer most people would give. I think 1998,1999, 2009 and 2019 were all missed opportunities as well to at least make a grand final. 1976 was also another one the club blew, they should have beat Manly in the grand final.
