    I have both of these ATV's, and will attest that this video was accurate in its comparisons. Of course, being an advertisement, it leaves out the benefits of the rancher, like the extreme dependability, stability, and general toughness. I love both wheelers, but prefer the grizzly on the rocky terrain. I like the rancher better for pulling stuff around.

    I've never had either of my Yamahas ('06 Wolverine 450, '09 Grizzly 550) leave me stranded. In fact, the Grizzly 450 has the same engine as my Wolverine 450. I can vouch for how tough the 450's engine is. I had a small limb on a downed tree puncture my lower radiator hose. I rode about 5 miles back to camp with no coolant. That was during the first week of ownership, and it it wasn't even broke in yet. Over 5 years later, the engine still runs fine and has never given a bit of trouble.

We had numerous contests to see who could get through the nastiest mud, over the biggest deadfall, etc. I won EVERY time. His died several years ago. My Honda is still going strong with it's new owner and I'm picking up my new 2013 Rancher this week.

    Umm, yes, the 700's are fuel injected. I believe the 450's are now as well, back when I had my Grizzly 450 in 08, they were carbureted, damn thing was useless most of the time as it wouldn't run right in the cold...if you could get it started, and the CDI was bad in it causing it to shut off randomly. Was glad to get rid of that thing. Never again will I wast money on a damn ATV, they're over-priced junk. I do the same stuff with my truck that I could do with the ATV and the truck is a hell of a lot easier to work on, and far cheaper.

I do agree @ 4:50 though, Honda does need to add diff lock for sure. 6:30 my dads 01 rancher has an outlet like that. I've got a 2016 Rancher and it makes very good power and I've never bogged down due to shifting like is displayed on this video. "Auto" can be used in most situations, but it's no problem to press the up or down button to manually shift if you need to or want to. Are these folks THAT lazy? What did they do before they came out with auto transmissions? Some of us don't have a problem shifting a bike manually. That 420 engine has more than proven itself to be bulletproof, and reliable. What good is a 4-wheeler if you have it in the shop all the time? The video forgot to mention the problems that the CVT transmissions have as well. They're not fool proof either. This video is extremely bias. If you're doing a video to promote the Yamaha Grizzly, that's fine, but you don't have to make silly false claims about the Honda Rancher, that any Honda owner can easily dispute.

    PatriotNC1 The Yamaha cvt transmission is different than a traditional cvt transmission on a can-am or Polaris, Yamaha’s system keeps constant tension on the belt, instead of slipping all the time. That’s why the belt on my grizzly has lasted 15 years.

The most dependable machine you'll find plus the designer and manufacture does a better job at not putting alot extra things on that will either be washed off or break easily...like the yamaha but things happen to unscrew occasionally...pretty annoying...a drop of locktite helps. On the other hand, It's irs is incredible, torque is outstanding, and so is diff lock.

    LOL, typical Yamaha commercial downing on a Honda. The Honda electronic power steering is the exact same as the Yamaha. More assist at lower speeds, less at higher speeds...... The only thing that's better about the Yamaha is the ground clearance... Another thing is, the Yamaha uses a CVT belt driven transmission for comfort and smooth shifting, while the rancher has a gear on gear transmission which allows you to feel each shift and is so much better in my opinion.

    I watched this video and it moved me off the fence between Yamaha and Honda. I've owned Honda's since my brand new Honda, Z-50 Santa brought me for Christmas 1977 then an XL-125 and a generator and a 15 hp motor and a civic, an accord, another civic, and yet another civic. And you know what I considered most before choosing between Yamaha and Honda? Of all the Honda stuff I've owned, none of it was so complicated that it let me down. That's right even that '77 Z-50 with it's 3 speed, no clutch lever transmission never let me down - nothing ever broke - nothing. So when Yamaha post a video and compares reliability of their Grizzly to anything Honda makes, I'll look again. But until that time comes I'm not going to risk my life riding anything except a Honda into the middle of nowhere in Alaska. To put it another way, would you take the wheels off your truck and put your 9 year old daughter underneath with a Harbor Freight jack or one from Snap-On?

    Not much was really given a plus on the honda. As for as the 4x4 button your hand can easily bump it and knock it into 4x4 when you're doing 40 on the highway!! And the differential, just pull the front brake laver and it will kick in. I'm still going honda b/c of reliability. Honda is the most reliable than Yamaha and kawasuki (meant to spell it like that) because it is metal on metal and no rubber belts that slip all over

  • @rexhouseo7010

    @rexhouseo7010

    Hayden Smith Even if you somehow bumped it on the highway it still wouldn't engage. You have to be going under 15 mph to go into 4x4. Also, you can do 60 mph in 4x4, it doesn't matter. Honda is the most reliable, but Yamaha is pretty close. We have an old Honda Foreman and a 1989 Yamaha Moto -4 that have lasted through years of farm usage. Dif-lock is better than 3x4, no way around it.
