The (X-fly) EAGLE HAS LANDED

Not a very flattering review on this model as you will witness. Either pilot inexperience with this type or have I purchased a 'Lemon'. It is a twin 40mm EDF 1019mm wingspan wing Jet. I think the Gyro has no real effect . I found it hard to fly....but you be the judge.

You should fly this plane on aileron and elevator only. Use the Rudder/ differential thrust only for special manoeuvres like flat spins. I had to add around 40g extra weight in the nose for correct CG. Now it`s a great flier.

What is your yaw gyro doing when you rotate the plane without throttle on? Could have the motor wires backwards for the yaw gyro which is making the jet roll. Also did you throttle calibrate the ESC’s

Hi there, the gyro seems to work as i move it but not as severe as say a Spektrum safe AR630 type. I expected , after reading all the enclosed paperwork, that it was ready to fly with the suggested CG utilised. I was told by the seller RC Castle, after my concerns, that the gyro will be good. But not so. Once i checked the servos & motors were working ok i therefore did not look at the wiring… just trusted the model to fly…like all my other 40 aircraft. You can see that i did get it to fly for a short time.

This is one of the easiest wings to fly, you just have to set it up right. Going by your battery and placement, you didn't have CG set up correctly and I'm sure that would've caused you issues. I would also suggest flying it in Stabilise Mode, not Lock Mode. I also found it very "sensitive" when flying in Lock Mode, but nowhere near as difficult as it looked in this video. Just make sure the LED in the gyro is constantly on (not flashing) and the plane flies like a dream. As for CG, I added some nose weight and made sure it CG'd as per the manual. The result is a solid flying wing capable of 178kph, almost unlimited vertical and about 5min flight time from a 2200 4S (with mixed throttle use). The differential thrust is not to be used for steering the plane, it's purely made for stunt work and some tricks, and should be used when you are way up high. I actually dialled down the rudder rates to 50% and gave it about 30% expo. This allows me to do hammer head turns on the apex of vertical climbs and it's a lot of fun to do, you just have to careful when applying the rudder so as not to over do it. Cranking the rudder all the way will cause the wing to flip and roll all over the place, which is also fun to do, but you need a lot of height to allow it to recover. Lastly, I noticed you're mode 2 like me, so you should be throwing the wing over your head and with your left hand, not your right. This will allow you to have your right thumb over the ailerons and elevator as you launch, giving you full control of the aircraft as it leaves your hand. 😉 This wing is amazing and one of the easiest wings to fly I've come across. The gyro is awesome and keeps the wing locked in like it's on rails, regardless if it's calm or windy. Don't give up on it, get your CG right, dial in some rates and expo and you'll see just how good it is. 😎👍

I watched your video prior to receiving mine. I had a blast today flying mine with zero issues. It was a gust day but the plane flew well and I even took off from the ground on our asphalt runway. When I got home I ordered more batteries. From what I’ve observed with your video, your battery is not properly secured. Put a Velcro on the battery. Flying wings fly better slightly nose heavy. As soon as you launch your battery slides back and shifts your CG aft making it tail heavy. Put your battery as far forward as possible. Next I added more expo to the elevators. I found it a little sensitive to my liking. I have 50% expo and that made it much smoother to fly. I’ve attached a link to my video as proof that this plane is easy to fly. kzread.info/dash/bejne/h4WVy7WweNXgido.htmlfeature=shared

I suspect pitch instability is not your only problem. Your differential thrust looks orders of magnitude too differential, to put it that way. The further off-center your motors are, the less difference you want. I run between 3 and 10 percent differential on conventional twins, and the Eagle should need a lot less out at the wingtips, but it seems to be close to 100 percent when you test it. That can't be good ...

The Ultrix 600 is a great design that would have been perfect for a certain use case that I have, but I fly nothing but waypoint FPV, and find it too fiddly to cut off those UMX type servo connectors and direct solder hair thin wires to a flight controller. However, you recently made me aware of a perfect alternative for that particular use case: Based on your reviews, I ordered a Twin Nova 850, which seems to come with regular connectors. Thanks for that, and happy flying!

Not recommended to take off and land in that gyro mode. If it senses any yaw the plane will fire left or right motor only. Cause incredible instability at slower speeds. This mode is for crazy 3d aerobatics up high. You can tell if it’s in this mode by holding wing flat and twisting plane left or right like your spinning a bottle. If the motors fire left or right switch off or to another mode. Launch will be much better this way.

It’s a dud! Was there any suggestion in the manual, of a launch mode? I only ask because I have a hand launch EDF wing, and the manual strongly recommends a launch mode, (slight elevator up on a switch). I prefer to fly the propeller driven wing that I bought as a trainer, to get familiar with throwing, how a wing behaves, and flying at speed. With the propeller at the front it flies well as soon as it leaves your hand, and doesn’t suck the battery power like a EDF.

Hi, I hoped this Video had a good ending, when YT recommended it to me. :( I ran around 15 Lipos on this plane till now and it doesn't behave like yours. Its kind of the opposit, it flies realy well. You just need a lot of space to land, but I would say its a good characteristic if a plane glides well. What I spotted in your video, that there is a lot of elevator up before you throw it. I'm not sure if its still present when you launch it and if its done by you or the gyro? As you mentioned in the video, I just give it a little toss and than I let it glide for some time. There is no need to give any new commands if its setup correctly. I know it took some success to get comfortable with a plane. But the main problem I would assume, is the way your battery is fixed, because it isn't. It can move around easily. And eventually that is what happened when you climb. It goes to the back and the weight is at the worst point. (in the back) Your packs width is to small for the way of mounting so the strap can't keep it at its position. Just put some Velcro below the Lipo and the bottom. And than put the Lipo in the front as far as you can and check CG. Hopefully you are able to repair it, because its an exciting plane, but in a good way. :)

My 1st flight looked similar to that, although i used lock mode to launch and it flew away fine. Thats when the fun started, any elevator input and it would snap up or down violently. I nursed it round in to some weeds and added the 50g of weight. The next flight and all subsequent flights have been fantastic. make sure your rudder spins the correct motor i.e left rudder should spin right motor etc...and use lock mode to launch. Read the manual and set the gyro to the mode they say is stabilized and good to 3D, set the gain pots to 30-40 % from full CCW. And you need to give it a much better throw, EDF's need a good push, they don't accelerate like a prop plane. Hopefully this will inspire you to get it sorted out. First off you can’t fly on stunt mode for takeoff or landing in the beginning. This mode if you twist left to right with wing one motor will fire. Launch with nothing or stability mode only as well as landing. A plank wing like this cg is critical. 1/4” off it’s out a mile. Throws are way too much. The faster the wing goes the more sensitive throws are. Use double or triple rates. High speed needs little travel. I think you are stalling the wing with too much deflection. Not trying to criticize your flying just trying to help you get some good fun out of this bird. I love mine and have had no problems thus far. The stunt mode with the motor fired rudder is best used up high. Good luck.

Something is terribly wrong with yours. I’ve been flying mine for about a month now and every flight has been exemplary and “perfect”. It’s fast, stable and highly maneuverable. When the gyro is assigned to a 3-position switch, at one end, you have what they call “safe” or self level but it’s not really that. The manual explains that this is to be used for “launch mode” and when flying, it’s supposed to hold whatever attitude it’s in when you let go of the sticks (ie, if you let go in a bank, it will stay in a bank). At the other end switch position, it’s just gyro ON (not sure how effective that is). In the middle, gyro is OFF and defeats the differential thrust. In (so called) “safe”, it pretty much launches itself and just keeps going till you take control. You might want to check ALL your flight controlller/gyro connections and RX connections. In your video, it almost looks like your differential thrust is backwards. When the wing is yawed to the right, the right EDF should fire up, (gyro compensation) just as when at zero throttle and you go right rudder, the left EDF fires up (diff thrust). My greatest disappointment with this plane is I can’t seem to do the flat spin like I’ve seen in other videos. I can get it to start, but it’s too stable and very quickly straightens out. This is in both “safe” and gyro mode.

@@Bellairvideo Thanks for the suggestion. A couple guys here have the Ultrix. I actually have the Flex Innovations Pirana. This is a 6s, pusher prop wing. It spins like a top during a flat spin and it's very fast and stable. It has launch control, even better than on the latest Eflite F-14 and SR-71. I just thought it would be fun to have a twin EDF wing to do the same thing. Nevertheless, I find the X-Fly Eagle to be a lot of fun and exceptional value. I think I just have to find a better technique to flat spin the Eagle.

Indeed very good value mate. It is an innovative model with jets (edf) thats for sure. Reminds my neighbour of the Ghost Bat surveillance drone. I am more a traditional aircraft flyer that i post on my channel, do i will stick to what i enjoy most. Regards🇦🇺🦘

Pull up in to a vertical climb and throttle off, just as it stops put full rudder to induce a pinwheel, it will flatten out in to a flat spin with some elevator. it is a bit hit and miss though. :)

@@tomshaw4534 Will keep trying. I get it to start the pinwheel, but it spins for 3 to 4 spins, then it goes into a spiral dive.
