The Writing Journey--Detours, the good, the bad, and the disastrous. And a bit about Edgar Alan Poe.

Ойын-сауық

Writing detours --the good, the bad, and the disastrous. When you get thrown off the track of what you're writing, it is much like a road detour when you have to deviate from your planned trip. Sometimes you have no idea where you are or where you'll wind up. Sometimes you never get back to your starting point. Or maybe you discover a side road that leads you to a wonderful new place where you'll return again and again. It's much the same in writing.
Today I discuss different types of detours and how they can work for us or against us. Let me know what you think. Have you detoured from a book or story never to return? I'd love to know.

finding the time to write is the biggest detour for me to work around so i have set my writing goal at 10 words a day just to keep me in the story it really helps normally i can write much more when i set down so it works out but a big goal would keep me from trying

Whatever works and if that's 10 words a day for you, that's good and will always lead to more.

Thanks so much for the offer, but I think we all have our own dysfunctional families. You have my sympathy.
