    Yes, the red truck phenomena is from the Live Web Cam streaming from our Town Square, which is just half block from The Wort Hotel.

    How far outside of Jackson Hole do I have to go to see those beautiful night skies?

  • @TheWortHotelJackson

    @TheWortHotelJackson

    Not far at all, you could even walk a few blocks from the downtown lights and get a great view of the milky way. But, for a true sky gazer, you might drive down a forest service road or into Grand Teton National Park where there would be nothing but starlight.

    +Christopher Jones one of the better places Christopher is if you go up towards Upper Slide Lake. that's where I always found stargazing to be the most satisfying if you go up north of town go through Kelly which is the little north east of Jackson and keep driving for a wee bit more you're going to come to Upper slide Lake and it's awesome well at least it was back in the sixties and seventies when I was growing up there I don't know what it's like now I can't imagine Kelly being much bigger than it was before though. and the added bonus is just more beautiful country to look at

    Still planning the trip but the good news is that everything seems to be within "earshot" of Jackson. I will def check out Kelly. I've also discovered that Big Sky, Montana isn't too far a trek either. Thanks for the info.

    Well, darn, I've been out there three times as an adult. Twice climbing (Middle Teton and the Grand) and once skiing, and I missed going into the Wort! I'll have to go out there again. So, did the Cowboy Bar copy the Wort with their million dollar bar, or did the Wort copy the Cowboy Bar? 4:49 - You look great in red! Hope your husband bought that for you. ;-)

    Nice presentation - very charming. "Wort" means "word" in German. So are your ancestors from Germany?

    i like so much to discuss of something like this..besides my concentration on linguistics field study, I can get lot of knowledge. do u think their ancestors from Germany? well, if I may say..do u know that English has great impact to the world? the word English came from Anglais who the second tribe that came to England long time ago..its name derived from Anglo and Saxon the two tribes who came from Germany and its language also as proto-indo-european and English belongs to single family with Germany too.. Germany gave to great impact to English today. after that, English came to America as superstratum language to native america..as u see like in Wyoming today.

    I live about 100 km away from the region "Angeln", where the "Anglos" from Anglo-Saxons once were heading for England. "Saxon" is our state "Sachsen" - so it´s written pretty similarly. And the old Low German language had a lot of words that still can be found in modern English - by the way. Isn´t it crazy how so many things are interrelated in our Western World? I have some good friends in Fresno/CA and I was suprised how many Americans with German roots live there. - By the way - your vid shows a real nice landscape worth to be visited. Love it.

    You have to change the name of the hotel AND the town. Image is everything nowadays and a hotel that sounds like "wart" and a town that's name is Jackson Hole", is not a place everyone would go because they would have to facebook/ share all of the places they go, share pics etc. and we all know how self-conscience everyone is in the US today. I''m not complaining or being mean but how many young people would want to say those names over and over to their friends?

  • @SwissMarksman

    -image- marketing. Look at all those towns and chalets and what not are in Switzerland, with a name that only the locals can speak and pronounce correctly. Look at the amount of people going on all those places, during Summer and Winter. Sure, "Hole" is not an attractive word. But you get the idea. Hell, there is even a Starbucks, what else could they do to attract the younger folks? McDonalds?

    SwissMarksman The restaurants are for the locals. What Starbucks ever opened up in a place to grow the population? Image is what people hold most dear. That's why they buy houses, cars and clothes they can't afford, have needless operations, worry themselves into mental illness because of how they look etc.

    actually when you see people like this girl promoting Jackson, you know that they're not from there. If you were born and raised like I was in Jackson you know the town's name is not Jackson Hole the name of the town is simply Jackson. It sits in the Jackson Hole Valley but the town's name is not Jackson Hole it's Jackson you can always tell somebody who just moved in and thinks they know everything by the way they say Jackson the greenhornes say Jackson Hole the lifers say Jackson.
