As for the whole dating scandal part, that irritates me alot. Why? Because the fans are getting too possessive with their idols. And i have a feeling, this is just my opinion, they are seeing idols as a type of "perfect" object in which they could keep. They are literally treating them like a bird trapped in a cage! The fans aren't the only ones treating them that, but i have a feeling some of the agencies do too.

Thankfully, people are now more accepting of idols dating (for example, HyunA and EDawn or Jihyo and Daniel), but that was the result of social reform that took years. The concept of the trainee and the idol centered around availability to fans, which caused the artists to be restricted from living their true lives to please their fans. As a result, fans have grown accustomed to idols being objects to serve them and they think they have the right to berate idols for doing something they didn't like, such as dating someone who isn't them. This has only gone away as K-Pop has spread to audiences who realized that idols are people too and controlling their lives wasn't okay.

You guys are gross, so what if 2019 isn't the worse year? Doesn't matter, every year in the kpop industry has their up and downs , all we can do now is to respect the ones who has left us and the ones who got hurt. If we want to so see this industry change , we need to use our voices and help idols in such issues and importantly we need to change ourselves as the kpop fandom.

I don’t understand how you claim other comments to be insensitive but here you are. You don’t know what anyone has gone through and for a lot of people music is a safe outlet. 2014 was a horrific year and that’s in the past! It’s 2019, and it’s almost over. Less idols have died but doesn’t mean that 2019 was a good year. It’s not a competition. They’re pointing out how the year went for them and their able to freely express their grief however they’d like. It’s kind of sad to see how much people care when these people are gone. For example sulli was hurting already in 2015 and nobody said or did anything. now that she’s gone everyone cares. Instead of looking for the people who want to compare the years look for the people that are barely making it through the year.

Disbandments were way worse at that time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many small agencies went bankrupt on that time leaving the disbandments of some groups like Spectrum and Hinapia. Another thing happened is former AOA member Jimin accused of bullying by her fellow former member Mina (btw that case didn't age well) that she had no other choice but to leave the group. In 2021 the case was opened again and it was revealed that Mina was making up those stories in order to destroy Jimin's reputation. Edit: May I add X1's disbandment due to the voting manipulation scandal of the whole Produce 101 series back in 2019. They had a lot of potential and it was said they were going to be active for 5 years and this year will be their supposed disbandment. They disbanded in January 2020.

it wasn’t real, hanbin was struggling mentally and physically, he had contracted someone about drugs but ended up not getting them as he didn’t want that imagine to be around him and for him to actually do drugs, but YG being a dick let him go just like that 😭😭

Im letting my emotion out on this one To Fans and Haters, Idol's are humans that tend to get more fame and hate than usual they sacrificed parts of there life for training instead of having fun there they are stuck in a training room getting lesson's to make them better. Male kpop idol's with make-up is normal they hide there insecurities with masks on. THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE REASON FOR YOU TO HATE OR COMPARE THEM TO OTHER'S SENDING DEATH THREATS AND HATE IS CRUEL YOU INFACT CALL THEM NAMES BUT WE WILL STAND A S ONE WE WILL FIGHT AS ONE WE WILL GET THRU THIS AS ONE. Dating should be normalize in kpop industry, i know it will break my heart into a million pieces seeing my idol dating someone else, but it will kill me if i see them being unhappy since they can't show in public their love on someone they really love, as long as their happy I'm fine and will never be sad seeing them smile with that someone they love...... just wanted to jump in here to clarify the scamming scandal regarding Taeyong because people still think this is true: from the time he was still a minor in SMRookies to now, he's been repeatedly accused of random rumors and gotten mocked by the korean public and was nicknamed “scamyong”. Even though he's supposed to be the leader, he couldn't smile for so long and just seemed sullen and shy (especially in their show with ep. 0+1). When the rumors first came out, Taeyong acknowledged ‘what he did’ that was wrong and apologized in a very heartfelt way; however, the REAL messages from his account(s) on the website show that he did have a fight with someone on the internet and used profanity against them, but it wasn't with the victim or a reviewer. The person who spread the lies about scamming said that he threatened the people he scammed with violence when they demanded refunds but the posts from his account show that that is not true and that he paid the reviewer back. According to the posts, it says he had a fight with someone online using profanity but there's nothing about violence. So a fight with some other person (who was also using profanity). NONE of his accounts are blacklisted or reported for scamming (which the original false report said they were). again, none of the numerous scandals the korean public has accused taeyong of hold any substance. The korean public has decided he is a bad person, no matter how often he apologizes and works harder regarding things he DIDN’T even do. I hope someday the public can see the amount of effort Taeyong puts into fixing all of his mistakes and becoming a better leader.

Many more people have committed suicide. I personally find health and deaths the only tragic things here. If someone disbands the majority can still have a career in the same industry. Most of them are young anyway.

It hit me so hard when they mentioned sulli.. She was still with us not long ago.. rest in peace we wont ever forget you and all the amazing things you have done

so many terrible scandals and departures, two deaths ecen happened in 2019, but also so many good things and successful situations happened, kpop artists were introduced to the grammys, rookies flourished like never before, and artists of this genre broke records globally. it simply doesnt compare to 2014, where we lost over 20 lives, scandals every month, and how it was a horrible year for korea's artists and their fans. i know we lost angels in 2019, but i feel as if people who say 2019 is the worst year have never heard of 2014..

i don’t think that 2019, or any other year before it, was that hard and sad as 2014, and i really hope it just stays like that, i mean, 2014 was bad enough.....

Everyone’s saying 2019 is coming for this spot but honestly it’s not. I think the bad things are comcentrated in October. So maybe the worst October in kpop

Kpop has also had a great year this year! So many new groups arising. So much more popularity in western cultures. New albums, new fans. I think it’s been a pretty good year. But unfortunately some of the unfortunate and sad moments are seen larger than the great moments.

Red Velvet debuted on this year...It's the worst year to debut in, honestly. 2014, 2018, 2019 - Red Velvet and Luvies' years of frustrations/sadness.

Song wise, I think this is one of the best years. So many girl group bops that year (Mr. Mr., Miniskirt, Something, Comeback home, etc.) and debut of Mamamoo and Red velvet.

I wasn’t into kpop in 2014 but I’m so sorry for who were there. Accidents, scandals and deaths happened one after another...I can’t even imagine how hard it was. Ps. 2019 happened so many horrible things too but you can’t make a 20 minute long video about them like in 2014

I'm seriously so sad it says at 8:22 that Sulli left her group for good and is now focusing on her acting career. I guess her mental health never really healed. She committed suicide in 2019.😭 RIP Sulli prayers for you in heaven👼🙏
