The criteria for an active volcano is essentially just that it's erupted once or more since the last ice age. That could mean a volcano that erupted yesterday or one that hasn't erupted in nearly ten thousand years. Nature is as nature is, so everyone should always adhere to safety regulations and proceed with caution, but with an active lifespan that can see dozens of civilizations rise and fall between eruptions, combined with the warning signs we can and often do catch (and can even prepare for when we know a volcano's history), it's not as dangerous as you might think. I'd still consider it more risky than relaxing, but I can also 100% see this couple just seeing it as signing up for a guide-led group hike on a secured trail in a well-traversed area. Less accident prone, even, than just hiking off by themselves in some random woods... Though the accident for this trail is, of course, an *eruption.* That legal case will probably depend most on how many warning signs were ignored by the company organizing the hikes

It's an active volcano which is constantly steaming and had seen a rise in activity in the previous couple of months. The tour companies should never have been allowed on the island at that time. I grew up in the town directly onshore from White Island and when I was a child no one went there. However, the rise of "adventure tourism" in the 80's and 90's meant that tourists asked for and were given more and more "experiences" and sadly they don't always go as planned. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and this kind of thing will stop.

Unfortunately, companies usually look at profit first and safety last...or safety never. That said, anyone going to an active volcano, even an active volcano which has just been spitting steam and smoke for months, should realize that thing could pop at any moment. The fact there was a marked increase in activity should have been the glaring sign not to go, but many people simply expect the tour company to protect them and blithely go on with the adventure.

Also, the boat crews were WARNED of the impending danger!!! They were told not to go!!

The people in the restaurant missed a huge opportunity. I would’ve gotten into my pajamas, opened up all the windows and just watch the people eat and watch their reactions. That is far more entertaining than just looking at buildings. That was a score really. Who can say that they had a situation like that ever in their lives it’s hilarious, and really interesting

2 years ago my brother (husbands twin) died jumping off a bridge... they had done it for years... all it takes is one wrong landing and your family is watching your body being recovered from the water.... it was awful pkease dont do this!!!

I gotta agree with you there. While I've never found someone living in my basement, I did find someone living in the broken down barn on the back corner of my property a few years ago. Once I found him, he seemed like a good guy who was just down on his luck, so I worked out with him to take care of the lawn (about 2 acres) in exchange for rent. He counteroffered with, "well, if I'm gonna be doing that, the least you can do is give me power out here". I decided, if he was going to actually take care of our property, I could at least provide him with a livable environment, so we upgraded the barn to turn it into an apartment with a kitchen, bathroom, and garage. He's been there for almost 3 years now and our yard has never looked better!

But I also have to point out that, in the grand scheme of things, is this is the most traumatic part of the poster's life, they're considerably more fortuitous than the rest of the population.

The people diving off of cliffs is so worrisome! When I was 12, my brother was paralyzed at 19 from a waterskiing accident. He was the only son and it absolutely destroyed my father. The saddest event in my life! And my mother was placed on multiple medications so she could continue to work and my father also worked. 😢😢

My neighbor has a mini pig. I used to take care of it when she & her family went out of town. He wasn't the friendliest animal but as a male to win him over required food. I still never got too close. And never let him near my fingers.

Same. The cruise lines should have my dad at the wheel. We had to run after the car if we weren't there on time. I doubt he would have left us but he began a slow creep away. We learned!

I love how the couple on the elephant was surprised that the elephant was acting out. Elephants don’t do that naturally obviously that elephant has been mistreated and beaten, just for them to be on it but yet they got on it anyway.

The law is to protect tenants from slumlords taking your money and then throwing you out of your apartment without a warning or legit reason. The problem is how easily someone can fake proof of residency.

In the city where I live many houses have a separate rental unit in the basement, and another separate living quarters in the upper floor. It's quite common for one floor of the house to be an airbnb while the other floor is rented to a long-term tenant. They have their own entrances. The woman that called the police on the tenants in the basement suite caused the tenants trauma. She has no reason to claim she is the one traumatized.

I was SHOCKED that the man who was supposed to be in charge of the elephant, was just STROLLING behind the elephant , rather than attempting to regain control…but since he was abusive towards the elephant, the elephant would likely have become even more fractious. -Moose feeder: "It's a magical moment." It will be less magical when the moose bites your hand off. He won't mean to, he just doesn't understand. -Jumping off the cliffs: in 2010, I was on a cruise. It stopped in Cozumel. Some guys from the ship jumped from a very MODEST height, into the water, near the beach. There were rocks. One guy broke his neck. Was airlifted to a hospital. Nobody knows if he recovered, the cruise carried on to the next stop. Broken neck! I felt sorry for him but frankly...look at them. They keep jumping.

Yep….my next vacation is also guna be staying right here at home. Safe, not broke, not broken, well fed, great entertainment, temperature is always perfect, no crowds, no crazy attitudes from crazy people. That’s enuff for me….a nap for dessert😊😎

I hear, in all honesty I hate traveling anymore because there’s way too much craziness going on around the world. Years ago when we could afford vacations and when my son was younger, we used to always take a 2 week long vacation, we went so many places and really enjoyed it. However anymore everything is way too expensive and it’s nothing more than a hassle, so from now on we decided to just vacation locally, here and there taking beach trips and going to the mountains/Poconos, plus where we live is literally like being on a vacation spot because we have a huge pool, nice play area, tennis courts, a fitness center as well a nice size game/lounge room, we also have barbecue areas with grills and fire pits. Although it is indeed nice to travel and visit different places, it’s also nice to not spend lots of money that you don’t have nor having to deal with too much of the public and it’s craziness. 😅 As I’m getting older I’m starting to really appreciate being a homebody, and just spending quality time with my family, because I don’t need any luxuries of taking elegant vacations or superficial things to make me happy!! Don’t get me wrong, it is nice to visit some places and do certain things, but I know that I can do that close to home and still enjoy myself!! 😊

Here is a tip for traveling. On your luggage tag write info inside bag and put a info tag on the inside of your bag clipped to a strap or if nothing to clip to get some duct tape and write your info on it and stick inside where the can easily find it. Never put your info on the outside. Another good tip.. NEVER PUT YOUR KIDS NAME ON OUTSIDE OF BACKPACKS OR LUGGAGE! STAY SAFE! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Yup! And I was stunned by her apology afterwards… She sounded dumb.. really. Apologies for her wrong doings with the lame excuse that “who wouldn’t share that”?! lol! She didn’t get the point did she. People wasn’t upset at her for recording her feeding the moose and share it online. 🤣 They’re angry at her for doing such a stupid thing that can result in the animal seeking humans because it remembers that’s = food.

My brother got his thumb just about taken off by a pig. I had a pet pig years later. Her name was penny and she was a sweetheart. I miss Penny😢

The whole group ganged up on the ticket desk and demanded an immediate refund. They took the refund and and chartered a flight

Never take an elephant ride. I have two friends on separate occasions that were hospitalised for lengthy periods.

This reminds me of me lol. I rented an Airbnb in Edmonton Canada. One night at 3am, I started hearing someone coughing next room. The owner did not tell me there was someone else coming at the wee hours of the night. Being a woman and from out of town, I was very scared. The following day, I was resting in the bedroom, then I heard someone building stuff, I checked and the owner just had walked in without even letting me know he was coming…terrible experience 😊.

Wow I feel so so bad for those people on the cruise who had to suffer through the pains of construction noises. This is so horrible, so tragic, and quite frankly not okay. To suffer what they went through, one could only imagine. We need to make some serious changes. We need to do something to right this wrong in the universe. My heart goes out to you poor victims.

You have no right to be upset that your riding on a wild animal as a "bucket list activity" didn't go your way, but an animal shouldn't be for your amusement. Make better decisions.

The bachelorette party is a dumb story

Delta Airlines was out of line ...I worked over 20 Years for a major Airline and I know they over book up to 6 % because of the no show average and most of the time, it works. I beg to ask, if only one seat was needed, did they ask for a volunteer. the volunteer is normally rewarded very well for being a good person . I feel sorry that family had to suffer the humiliation of this ordeal

Having your sense of safety compromised or violated CAN be very traumatic. I have experienced a wide range of things in my life, from a parent’s death as a kid, to having my stuff stolen. I was so upset when someone broke into my car that I took it back to the dealership.

I honestly didn't want to see the couple hurt but all breeds of elephants should be worshipped, pampered and protected

A $50 credit? Is that a joke? That airline legit KIDNAPPED every one of those passengers & they seriously just gave them all $50 credit? Yeah, making a note in my head to NEVER fly jet blue. Just WOW. 😳

They would have had to call the police if I was on that plane. I wonder if any of the passengers thought of that. I wouldn’t have felt safe taking off again! Yikes!👀

@@joelblackmanreviews8472 I already don't fly delta. They broke my laptop after they grabbed my carry on from me to put it underneath bc there was no more room left overhead and never gave me anything. I was a single mom & college student and my laptop was less than a year old.

lol, renting the main floor and realizing someone lives in the basement suite days later was the worst day of her life? clearly lives a sheltered life!!

Poor girl. The most terrifying moment of her life was discovering there was an appartement under her Airbnb.

Don’t support industry that directly abuses animals for your entertainment and you won’t have to worry about those animals breaking your back after getting upset with the abuse. I hope the elephant is ok, sadly in those conditions probably not, heartbreaking.

Delta is savage. Ill never fly with them. That is crazy, how do they decide who has to go when its over booked. It sounds to me like the people that didn't have the seats were the ones that should have been bumped off. Not the family that was already buckled in.

i go to murtle beach every summer and seeing the shark video just scares me so much i am so glad that little girl is ok

I had an Airbnb last month and when we showed up we realized we shared an entrance to two different apartments…. We went in to our apartment and didn’t bother the permanent resident because we understood other people live in apartments 🙄 We made sure to keep the volume down so we didn’t bother the people who live there. We’re respectful and grown adults

Excuse me. Re;the squatters who trashed that house. WHY were they not thrown in jail for trespassing and sued for the damage they did to someone else’s property? Who posted the fraudulent rental agreement? Is he/she in jail? Make that prison. The damage was enough to make this a federal case.

🌊⛈❄️Absolutely NOT!!! Who would subject themselves to that? Not to mention flu/Covid season…I hunker down from Halloween to New Year’s 😂😂😂

I swear the lack of common sense and the surge of idiocy that's spreading like a plague is hard for me to accept.

I have parasailed before over a sound, not the ocean. It was so bad we were taking waves over the bow as soon as we set sail. They still put me up over 1,000 feet, where there was complete silence and calm. Then they could hardly get me back onto the boat as it was so rough. The boat and equipment appeared to be in good condition, however they should have not let us go up with the bad conditions. 😮

That could have ended very badly….but I can’t wait to try. Also, if it doesn’t *look* safe on the water to *you*, that is all the reason you need not to go. My poor friend died in Hawaii while jetskiing. He hit his head, and then drowned. R.I.P., friend. His gf always said she didn’t want him to go. Worst wedding experience ever. 😢 Be safe out there! 👙👙👙

We were on our way to ARUBA for Christmas. Arrived at airport found out we were to be DELAYED 16 hrs…. While there going up the elevator in the middle of the night got stuck in in between floors alarm NOT WORKING managed to pry doors open a little and see someone who got us help On the way home this airline announced in the air they had left passengers behind in Miami and we were. Making a stop to get them Never again 😅😅😅😅😅

The alarms never work in the elevators and they don't care if you have to wait until Monday for a crew. I was on a flight from Tahiti to Auckland when the plane started a descent in the South Pacific. They made an unannounced stop to pick up rugby teams from Tonga, but made me us deplane while they loaded the teams. The teams were fighting, so we had to turn around on the tarmac to get a league manger to come aboard and babysit them for the rest of the flight. They never said anything to anyone about the stop, the new arrivals, turning around etc.
