    Bad thing about being blind is everything you do is 'inspirational'. I made toast, there's Nothing inspiring about it.

    antony catt thank you!!! I'm partially blind and everyone always refers to me as inspirational because I sing and don't let sight stop me but no I don't think it is inspirational I'm still human and if I let sight stop me life would be boring as hell I am flattered if people are inspired by blindness or anything I do but it's kinda annoying that anything I do independently is apparently 'inspirational'

    I know this video is quite a few years old now, but I’d love to see you revisit this video. See how much of this is still bothersome to you or if somethings you’ve grown past? Any new dislikes about being blind? P.S. love your channel. Your makeup is gorgeous. 💗

    Ah man it must be so annoying when you have to ask other people for help when you don't want to, especially when you can tell they aren't in the mood! Also, I don't think this video was really pessimistic, I think it helps people understand what blind people go through and how to help make sure they don't feel isolated in social situations. Great video 😉

    For me the worst part of being visually impared is relying on others. You know you can,t but when they act like getting you or helping you is putting them out. You want to say you wish that was your worst problem.

    When people can't be bothered or don't want to understand blindness or any difficulty is just selfishness, what they should realise is that I can happen to anyone at any time and they would soon change their attitude if it happened. Thanks lovely girl.

    I think every screening should come with AD. You could have a handheld device to plug headphones into given out at the ticket office for the blind and VI folks and the sighted people could just have the regular movie at the same time. :)

    I've watched many of your videos over the past couple of days and they are really quite moving and very informative. I don't have a blind friend or know anyone who is blind but if I meet someone who is blind in future, I'd like to think maybe I'll be able to interact better with them thanks to you. I'm curious and since you said ask: Do you find that listening to films with audio description is similar to audio books or are they quite different? Do you have a preference?

    I'm legally blind I just lost most of my sight in November. And I can understand you in all the worse things ever. I haven't been motivated to do anything with my life since I found out my eye sight would be permanently damaged I had a blood.clot and intercranial pressure and the pressure caused my optic nerves to swell. The swelling finally went down about 4 months later but caused permanent damage to my eyes I have low vision and many blind spots.

    Can you expand on situations where you've felt patronized? I really want to make sure I'm not ignorantly being patronizing. For example, if someone who is blind is clearly trying to get on the escalator nearby and they're a little bit off, do I tell them "a little to your left" or do I trust that they know what they're doing or do I ask first? Thank you!

  • @LilyMordaunt

    @LilyMordaunt

    9 жыл бұрын

    Ask first. Just saying a direction doesn't necessarily tell us what your talking about. Even if you say "the escalator is a little farther to the left", I have friends who are extremely annoyed by any assistance. But whatever you do, don't just grab the person (this has happened to me on multiple occasions). At the very least touch the person's arm or shoulder to let them know that you're speaking to them. But I also feel that being conscious that you could come off as patronizing, or rude goes a long way to aid you in not giving that impression.
