It's all about getting people to spend their first dollar. Statistically, someone who has spent 1 dollar will spend way more after that, due to sunk cost fallacy and other behavioral patterns. They just want to funnel people into the mindset of getting their awful deals. Including the Battle Pass which now has a "-50% on first time"... Really sickening.

If an offer says "FREE!" but you have to pay before getting the offer, IT IS NOT FREE. As a free-to-play player, I feel like Clash Royale is basically taunting me with this.

Funny how suddenly there is so many book offers. I remember just a week ago they tried to remove the book of book from the season shop. 💀

This offer is more misleading than you think it is. Extremely so. The book theyre selling isnt a book of books. Its a book of cards. A basic legendary one for 10 usd. Purposely decieving players into believing its a book of books so that its worth more. Its downright disgusting behavior.

I miss when supercell prioricized love to a game over money, but they more and more turn into a completly normal company that only cares about money. (Clash royale is still by far the worst too)

so theres kinda this theory that i heard about for overall economics that when something new is created, they are focused on making it the best product it can be, ie they believe it will only do well in the market if its a truly good product. but then after enough time they consider said product done, but arent content with a stabilized flow of income. no they need more, if profits arent always raising its a failure. but what this causes is them to implement artificial ways to "update" the product whos main goal is to increase profits from said product. (for example increasing prices for no reason) anyways supercell views clash royale at that stage and is why no update is made to actually improve the product anymore. id say were in the end times but the end times never end, typically this only stops when the thing finally gets shuts down and is not for market anymore. the idea of someone coming in and trying to completely overhaul the game simply to better the product is impossible hypothetical because it risk profits

This was firsted tested by brawl stars. It didnt recieve too heavy of backlash because the brawl stars team arent as greedy and it wasnt plastered on the home screen. So they decided to make it worse and put it in clash royale and who guess it wouldnt have worked lol

It's not only in clash royale but every supercell, yall don't understand how many times I've remained disappointed by the "free" offers in brawl stars

clash of clans is far better not to say they dont have a lot of pay to win mechanics but its better than cr

The key difference between Brawl Stars and Clash Royale offers is that in Brawl Stars, you don't really have an advantage when you buy an brawler early, but in Clash Royale if you buy an evolution, you just begin to win more games and thats unfair. Anther thing that Clah Royale needs to fix is that you need to be able to get evolutions by spending gold (or gems), because that is the case in Brawl Stars.

recently when I opened clash royale I was surprised to see some small updates (through the app store itself) and honestly I was really looking forward to those BUT afterwards realized that those 'updates' were just some shameless offers

7:52 this is exactly what is so stupid about what supercell is doing because actually adding something not money hungry to the game would in the long run generate SO much more money. Like if you're gonna be money hungry at least do it right. It's crazy to think how much of a fumble this year was for cr considering how much the player count went down and how the gameplay went from requiring skill to requiring a credit card.

They do it in Squad Busters too, locking all the chests behind a few baby characters, yet it looks like a completely free reward, until you click on it.

These new offers have been seen in other supercell games such as brawl stars and squad busters. Its even more misleading cuz in the shop it will say its free and not show the money part. Even after clicking on the offer and declining it, the game will stay there is free stuff in the shop. Extremely deceptive. Supercell got hit with a goblin curse or something.

This is how squad busters did it too. Not that i needed another reason to uninstall that game, but that type of "deal" gave me one.

I don't know if anyone else has picked up on this but this is the same system they have on squad busters, where the first reward is free, and then the next few ones are paid, locking behind the next "free" rewards. Maybe they saw it being successful on that game, and copied it on clash.

I was also presented with a 45% off on Diamond pass offer. Thanks but I'm not spending a dime on this game anymore.

It was a bit too much indeed. But at least f2p was still viable back then. I have been f2p for over 6 years and NEVER have I struggled as much as today. The evos particularly broke the game. It's basically unplayable for f2p

Yes i agree, the monetization of clash royale is completely different from brawl stars or clash of clans. I remember the squad buster community event where they asked for over 50 million pre downloads where in clash of clans they would deliver 6 useful potions + a hero skin. Where as in clash royale, they gave like a magical chest, 2 banners and an "exclusive emote". Seriously? They ask for 50 million pre downloads only to give you some banners and an emote that is not so exclusive as everyone will get it?

My perspective was that the "free chest" or whatever after the legendary wild card, is included in the package with it lol. You are paying 1.99 for 2 wild cards, and 1 chest pack - group those together and it makes more sense. Same goes with 9.99 book- which includes 2 other chests with it. The free is 100% misleading.

Guess they saw how much Squad busters made from that deal feature and copied it

I was so mad at this in squad buster when I downloaded it, the notification ‘free’ is still popping and I don’t even see what’s ‘free’ about this… so sad to see it coming to clash right away

They don't want money, if I didn't want money anymore this is exactly what I would do, I would remove the book of books from the pass royale so that none buys it and I would double the price so none buys the second one either. If I wanted to get more money I would have the original pass royale and put 2 book of books so more people buy it or make it 10 dollars. It is obvious that they want less money, you think they doing this to gain more?

Supercell is not nearly as bad as EA. That's a ridiculous thing to say. You can see this by looking at Fifa alone. Yearly releases with minimal changes for the full price. The monetization in that game alone is even worse. The focus is more on making money than the actual gameplay itself - that's how bad it is. Clash Royale at least has new gameplay with the updates. And keep in mind, this is not the only bad game EA has where overmonetization is a clear issue. Supercell has done a lot of bad things but 'worse than EA' is so far from the truth. EA has one game that's worse than all supercell games combined.

Been playing the game since its launch but I’ve had enough. So many broken cards, stupid offers, horrible match making. I stopped play just before all those goblin cards got released and I am so happy I did
