the fact that she has severed Buddha head in her place is literally proof that she can't be all that serious about her Buddhism. The trend of having Buddha head as decor comes from colonial English men in India cutting Buddha heads off temples and monuments to bringing them home as trophies. Especially for Indian Buddhists having a severed Buddha Head is considered highly offensive because of that very reason. So many beautiful temples, statues and monuments were scarred because of this. This offensive trend eventually over time made it into our garden, homes and furniture stores because its ~AeStHeTiC~ even though it's really messed up. But that sounds just like Kenna, now doesn't it. I feel like if you seriously want to be part of a religion, you should learn it's no-no's maybe?

I will admit I used to have one in my house. Out of sheer ignorance, it stayed on my bookshelf for a couple years and I really liked how it looked, didn't look much into it. I forgot how I acquired it, maybe it was a gift. Anyway, I learned in December that it's highly disrespectful to Buddhism and immediately donated it. I'm not trying to put myself on a pedestal but why disrespect a group of people when you could just... NOT. It's not hard to listen to people and come from a place of compassion, unless vanity is a person's only motivator. Ironic that she doesn't realize how stupid she looks.

as an art teacher, i dont think getting ideas off the internet makes you not original if you twist them on your own, all art is borrowed, and it's very hard to make unique things. It's like how no art style is truly original everything is inspired but nothing is particularly wrong with feeling unique or having deep rooted connection with it. but I do think that claiming or attacking other people for being into the same thing, and putting their own twist on it , is really bad. but lying about that sort of stuff is scummy.

She claims to be Buddhist yet she doesn't even understand the religion? She literally is the embodiment of using religion as an aesthetic. She just tacks it on to her personal info, as if that makes her special. Buddhism is a religion like any other and it shouldn't be fetishized and reduced to a simple aesthetic add on to a person's decor. She uses the head of Buddha in her decorating, which is super damn disrespectful. She also said, after being accused of something, that as a Buddhist she needs to just get over stuff and live her life. Kenna just annoys me, and I'm not even religious. Maybe it's because she fetishizes everything, or the fact that I'm an artist.

@@cinnamongirl11 Yeah my family is Buddhist and I can vouch for the OP. Fetishizing something isn’t necessarily sexual. It can be as simple as taking something of religious importance and treating it like an accessory. I think fetish has only gotten the sexual connotations in recent times due to BDSM but may scholars have written about the original meaning of a fetish. you never buy Buddha’s from commercial stores. They have to be gifted to you by family members or by religious figures. I’m not exactly sure how obtaining them in the first place works but you need the Buddha to be blessed by a monk in order for it to be most effective. And if you brought a Buddha head from tj Max they’d probably give you a funny look. This isn’t to shame people who bought Buddha heads from stores. I can understand how it would be hard when you want to practice Buddhism but no one in your family practices. My high school friend had a commercially bought Buddha in her room but my family didn’t take offense because she was trying her hardest to practice and learn the teachings. Plus she didn’t treat the Buddha as a trendy accessory.

For me personally I was more annoyed at Kenna’s unscrupulous and rude behavior. And so was the video maker. She even linked an aesthetic youtuber with a similar style but without the controversy. I think most of us can agree that more people are criticizing her actions rather than her aesthetic But yeah some people are just attacking her for liking the tumblr aesthetic and it sucks.

Okay so, I followed her on Instagram for a while- and she asked for opinions on a facial expression of a character she drew- several people said that the character looked flirty, and I politely agreed. She DMd me accusing me of beastiality because the other character in the art was an animal. I was only commenting on the facial expression of the character as she was posting about it- I apologized and she continued to be incredibly rude about it.

Little experience I had with Kenna: she has the air nomads symbol from Avatar tattooed on her sternum, coincidentally I have the water tribe symbol in the same spot. When I first found her I was a huge fan and I found the coincidence cool so I commented about it She replied to my comment (very passive aggressively) and said that she found it funny that I somehow commented that after she posted the video and that I was lying about it being a coincidence, saying that the tattoo idea was ‘so important and meaningful’ to her childhood and that it was disrespectful for me to steal her idea even though I got the tattoo years ago. When I replied telling her that she was rude and that I was in no way copying her she deleted my comment

I'm an artist to but last time I checked art was suppose to be for everyone to enjoy once you put it out there your just waiting to have it redrawn a million times, tattooed, and probably posted *cough cough* without who it's from. Also art normally has meaning so if you can't deal with the fact the other people are gonna put their own meaning on it why put it out there

Niji Tsubasa i can’t name any but tumblr (and now ig too) is swarming with this style and has been for many, many years. if you search a bit i bet you’d find some pretty popular people who are like this and maybe make videos as well. i’m assuming (since the style was all over tumblr and not many of these tumblr users took the style to youtube) that kenna thought she could brand it as original if she introduced the style as her own on youtube instead, and it worked. but it’s not original at all and it’s a flat out rip off of the tumblr-esque style that’s been on the scene for a long time.

she’s like the quirky, tumblr using, “artsy”, theater girl i stay away from

I feel sad for all the artist who doesn't get credited by their work like she's stealing their works and make them as her own how ridiculous

the foxtail thing is completely stupid. She made the characteristics as the best because she thinks that's her personality even though she doesn't she's so full of herself

she comes off as very condescending and pretentious about all her interests like if you watch her videos on anime she acts like she's so Unique™ and Different™ for watching these ~obscure things that no one else knows about~ when in reality everything she talks about is pretty mainstream. she also thinks avatar is an anime so there's that.

It's american made, so no it isn't. I does has anime influence, and is created by Asian producers and all. But it's Nickelodeon, not Japanese.

Luna R Animes are cartoons from Japan but anime is also a style of animation. I know a lot of people who say anime for heavily anime-styled cartoons. I don't think it's a big deal.
