@freyja6360

@@mikebraun7971 I think that it can be more severe than one-upping anyone and he's probably a habitual liar at this point. Like when he told his mom that he wanted to knew the proportions because "the people in Germany are complaining" (like his comment section isn't usually disabled) then he tells his mom that he won't be using this footage in the video and includes it anyway with the part when his mom tells him not to. He's always cooking for some imaginary guests like people would want to eat his cooking again and again. It probably happens, but I doubt that they are coming again (maybe aunt Myrna). The same with that unfortunate chili. He hypes himself up so much that I bet in his mind nobody knows how talented he is but if only an expert tasted his food then they would know that he's a genius. And the fact how he refers to himself in plural form when he's cooking - "we will show you how to..." - like he has a whole camera crew, editors and producers. It could be even kinda funny if he wasn't a father.
Jack makes me feel better because despite having minimal experience I still know how to cook for human consumption. Jack's gut biome is somewhere between a Denny's dumpster behind a cheap Motel, Chernobyl, and a biology class's hazardous material disposal.

It's not a positive in any way, shape or form. Reheated pasta can contain b. cereus spores that are highly toxic and can be lethal. It's as dangerous as raw chicken and maybe even more when it comes to numbers of people poisoned (which in the worst cases led to multiple organ failures and amputations) and even dead because of it. There are some ways in which you can reheat the pasta relatively safely but looking at the risks involved it's not really worth it.

I love Ed's energy. It's that of a sarcastic dad and I am so here for it.
For me a lazy man's lasagna is a lasagna, that doesn't need to cook for 4+ hours. I don't make a traditional lasagna, it is a bit more adjusted for the German pallet, which means more tomato and saucier (and in my case extra spices because i like flavour). I usually make my lasagna like this: 0. start in the morning 1. put bacon and minced meat in an enamelled cast iron pot and let it brown 2. finely dice Celeriac (it's cheaper and tastier than celery), carrots and onion and add it to the meat along with some tomato paste. 3. When it smells right (I don't know how to explain it better) add (red wine), tomato purée, bay leaf, oregano, nutmeg, thyme and a little bit of cinnamon and cumin, just a little, you won't taste it later, it just makes it taste better. 4. let it simmer until you need it, so for 4 hours or more if you want it for lunch, maybe stir it every hour or so, but you don't really have to. 5. add garlic, basil, parsley, pepper and salt to taste. 6. make a béchamel sauce, flavour with nutmeg and pepper, add some Italian hard cheese, I use grana padano because it is cheap. 7. assemble with lasagna sheets, that don't have to be precooked (the standard here in Germany). If you want it cheesy, and a bit more stable, you can add some cheese between the layers. 8. bake until the cheese on top is lightly browned, maybe 30 minutes If I am lazy, I don't wait for 4 hours and instead cook the... "ragout" / sauce on higher heat. You could dice the vegetables in a food processor, but I find cleaning the thing more annoying than just dicing the stuff with a knife. Mixing it all together obviously will taste good too, but if you do that, why don't you just eat Spaghetti with a bolognese sauce?

I hate to admit that I made up a recipe in college that I've always called the "Poor Man's Lasagna", because you can get all the ingredients for about $15 and it'll feed you for a week. I have a fancier, more traditional recipe as well (most things are from scratch) that I make when I have guests. But I think my "Poor Man's Lasagna" might actually be even lazier than the one in the reaction lol. I sincerely apologize to anyone I'm about to offend with this recipe but here goes... I heat up jarred pasta sauce, brown some ground beef and throw it in the sauce. Then I just make layers of the sauce, dried lasagna noodles, sliced Swiss cheese, dollops of cottage cheese (instead of ricotta) and bagged low moisture mozzarella. Throw all that in the oven, covered with tin foil for 40 mins. Then take the cover off and add more mozzarella on top and cook until it browns. It only takes about 15 minutes of prep and assembly. If you don't have the time to prep a really good lasagna, it's surprisingly a lot better than something like Stouffer's or the other pre-made ones from the grocery store. But if you've got the time, definitely go with something a little more.... traditional. I apologize to everyone for releasing this sacrilegious recipe to world, but in a pinch it's a time and money saver!

I prefer cottage cheese too. Less filling.
Growing up my grand aunts would make "Lazy Man Pierogis" for Christmas Eve dinner. Which ironically used lasagna noodles instead of making individual dumplings. A bit easier faster than making the dumplings for 100 people at one meal. But we were in the midwest, so the "Lazy man" isn't just on the east coast.
When schools cafeterias are dealing with budget cuts, they have to hire Jack

Growing up one of my favorite dinners was something like this. We'd throw together white cheddar mac and cheese, ground beef, and spaghetti sauce. Then we'd cover it in cheddar cheese and bake it in the oven. We called it "poor man's lasagna."
The many screams I scrumpt… the many things I yelled. Even with it being “lazy man” I am upsetti spaghetti

Hey Chef, as a sandwich pro, you should review some of Jeff Mauro's recipes. He had a show called Sandwich King, after all!
Just found your channel. Loving the videos man! Keep em coming!
The worst lasagna goes to the women who cooks it in her dishwasher while washing dirty dishes. Seriously this happened.
When I was very young, Dad tried making crock pot lasagna. Clearly, the first step is to cook the noodles. So he left them in there for 24 hours and then ditched the idea when he found grey mush the next day. Porridge has more texture and color than that did.

Jack likes to clean his oven the same way he cleans his toilet, with a power washer
The worst lasagna on earth, is the one that woman made in the dish washer, with the recycled spaghetti sauce. That should be considered a crime against humanity.

Def more to come featuring Ed!
Fun Fact: The "lazy man's lasagna" is actually an italian food. I mean, not if it's done like shit, of course. But we call it "pasta al forno" which means "pasta cooked in the oven". It's a dish made with leftover pasta, leftover sauce, mozzarella and parmigiano, sometimes even with some prosciutto cotto. Just mix the ingredients in a baking dish and cook everything in the oven till the parmigiano melts and become light brown (which means a nice and flavourful crust). The problem is that you have to use decent quality ingredients. It is a pretty easy and poor dish, but if made correctly it's pretty good.
The whole point of lasagna is the distinct layers and that it gets baked, at least do one of those two things, ideally both. This is not lazy mans lasagna, this is crazy mans lasagna.

I'm confused. Lasagna are sheets of pasta, those are Pene. And Maccaroni are small tubes. Also if you want to make Lasagna, you need the meet to better solidify everything. Vegetarian lasagna will not hold as well.

I'm almost halfway through this and....as an Italian I'm MORTIFIED at what I'm seeing. I'm no pro chef, but I know my Italian cuisine. He's making BAKED ZITI that freaking looks like penne vodka!!! And his kitchen looks like something out of Blue's Clues! Uggggh, can't WAIT to see how this ends😩🙄

I mean, that's literally the definition of lazy cuisine. Just pile the ingredients into a bowl. And mix it together. It's definitely not "nachos" or "lasagna" because these dishes have their own names but it's all the same ingredients.

I'm confused how this isn't just a pasta meal, rather than specifically lasagne Edit after watching the video: That's basically what we call in the UK a pasta bake. Pasta with extra cheese on top grilled in the oven 🤷
Not sure if Jack is from there originally but in his older videos he lived in California. He moved to Tennessee at some point, that's where he lives now.
11:58 “uuuuugh” “I agree with your word choosing” lmfao me too
While funny to rip good ol' Jack, over the years I learned how cooking itself is not something that comes natural, some things make no sense or just flat out work out of the norm: you need to be teach on how to cook at the end of the day, even simple things. Jack's problem is how he never, ever move from square one even when info of cooking is far more accessible nowdays and after clearly getting a stroke for his horrible food. Im not a fan of reaction channels but this one is tame, not fake and overhype, keep the good work.

Honestly my Sicilian grandmother born around 1900, used to make “old fashioned lasagna”…which was very similar but baked in a taller Corning ware dish. That woman could cook!
That looks more like a pasta salad than a lasagna. As far as easy lasagna goes, Joshua Weissman has my go to recipe. Its simple, inexpensive and delicious.
Canadian here. In Home Economics in high school we learned Lazy Susan’s lasagna which was my introduction to lasagna. It had commercial sauce, mozzarella, hamburger, cottage cheese and lasagna noodles. To this day I still use cottage cheese in my lasagna.
Putting hot food like that into the fridge might destroy the motor in your fridge. It'll be running overtime all night to get to 40.
Jack definitely lives in So Cal because of the Stater Bros brand ingredients. Stater Bros is a grocery store that's only located in Southern California.
Hey Chef Brian it was great to finally meet you. Hopefully you check out more of the Ocky Way Tic Toc’s. And Masterchef Australia Reynold aka the Desert King.

As an Italian home cook, casserole type pastas do end up absorbing sauce over night, but I grew up with that not being a bad thing. Being an adult you lose some texture but gain letting your gravy meld into the pasta. Not saying that's good in a professional setting, it isn't at all, but at home? Man it's comfort the day after. That's real lazy Italian cooking. Day after pasta is godly if it's made right the day of
The lazy man series is about him being lazy not his dishwasher
How to cook like Jack: under-season or over-season everything, always undercook your dishes, and add way too much cheese.
