Titleist have made the number one ball in golf for years now... the Titleist Pro-V1 and Titleist Pro-V1x have been killing it... but what golf ball should you use? what golf balls should you buy? whats the best golf ball for you? the best golf ball for mid handicap golfers? Should you play Titleist Pro-V1? Taylormade TP-5? Callaway Chromesoft? should you put the Taylormade TP5 vs Titleist Pro-V1? Should you buy expensive golf balls? budget golf balls cheap golf balls? in this video we look at the new Titleist Velocity Golf balls and see just how good they are, coloured golf balls could be the way forward? but green golf balls? i'm not so sure... let's do it... and let's do it now!

The Titleist Velocity in matte green are the balls I currently have in my bag. As a beginner I decided to play these for a few reasons. 1. The price point is good for the amount of balls I am losing as a beginner. 2. I find that the lime green color is easier to follow in the air and also easier to find when I hit into not so ideal areas. 3. As I continue learning to improve my short game, I feel that the matte finish has more playability and control around the greens for a novice player like me. 4. It makes my ball easier to distinguish from my playing partner's. I have found that the more I play them, the fonder I become of the bright green color. What started as me picking the color to (hopefully) lose less balls, has turned into me actually liking the vibrant color.
Green is a great color. I've said this before on your channel and on others. Green is on the largest wavelength of light for the human eye, and due to evolution we've developed the ability to see a far greater variety of the color green. We need to be able to discern between poisonous and healthy plants to gather and consume. I've used green balls for 3 years now for this reason. I rarely lose a ball unless it goes flying off into the woods or the water.

@@Momo_8k I hope they work well for you! I'm still using my green balls, and in the last 3 times out I have lost only 1 ball that I hit into the water.
I've used a few different colours and the bright green have always been the easiest to see. Yellow and Orange can be a challenge in the trees around autumn but Green stands up in pretty much any conditions

I was really surprised today, I play the ProV1, my partner gave me a sleeve of the Srixon Soft Feel in the matte green...Not only did I like the ball for distance, flight and feel, but with leaves starting to fall, the ball was definitely easy to follow and find. You two make the day with the banter, thanks much for the laughs and insights.
I love using a colored golf ball in the fall it stands out and you can follow it in the air and easy to find. I use the OnCore Yellow non matte and the lime green matted. Otherwise I use a white ball during summer and spring
The regular white velocity balls are good balls I think they are one of my favorites
Coloured balls are underrated .you two are still youngish .they do stand out on the fairway. played the wilson duo soft for a while .my ball of choice was yellow not until they stopped making them
Hi James - I've been using matt green Wilson Staff balls for a long time now. They are brilliant to 'spot' and I like them for putting as well

I am playing the Duo professional matte green. Great bang for your buck.
Started using those exact titleists this year. Absolutely love them! The easiest to see and I find they go further. Better feel than the ProV1 but I'm an 11 handicapper
Thanks for doing the review on matte balls...I use the green and orange ones when i play with other players to avoid confusion and the balls seem very durable. A ball I like but is expensive is the gold Chromax ball. The orange ones are also good. They come in other colours but I find them hard to find in the air and on the ground.
I use the Vice Pro Plus Neon (Red). It’s great in the autumn as it’s stands out against leaves and other natural litter. However there is something about being able to see it form a long way and be able to walk up confidentially to your ball. For me it reduces the number of anxious walks.
while looking for practice balls in the wood I found one in the wood shows up quite well , also good for old eyes and good contrast against the fall leaves.
I have been using the Volvik Matte finish.. bright orange balls. I like them.. easy to see in the rough
Thank a lot gents, you just made me stop the video midstream and purchase some Green Velocity balls, got to try them out while playing with my group of traditionalists. It’s fun content to watch you guys interact on the course, there should be a 5er changing hands.
Green balls are my favorite addition to golf equipment, especially the vice pro and pro soft, and the Wilson duo soft and duo pro*👍 Super easy to see, and the soft feel is amazing to me personally.

I saw these golf balls and thought it was the stupidest thing that they made them green but I will definitely be picking up a dozen to try out. Thanks for making this!
Still shopping James...bow or card on here please.. I remember testing these last year, very hard covers, no "feel" with putting, but I couldn't lose one, no matter where it was (woods, water, etc..) you could see it!! As the "FYI" part, I play the ProV1x (yellow). Thx for sharing with us James, give up the money Chris...fairs-fair!!
I played the Velocity orange for awhile. Got a bulk E-Bay buy. Felt like a rock off the tee and frankly was no longer than the older Trusoft and was not nearly as friendly around the green. I ended up actually giving most of them away to some guys at the range. The orange color was also not as easy to see especially in the fall when you get a lot of leaf drop on the rough and fairways and the ball blends in with the foliage.
I have just started playing with vibrant green matte balls ( Callaway Supersoft). Previously I’ve loved playing with yellow balls. I was always been a tennis player and yellow balls have ALWAYS been easier to see. Callaway supersoft Magna are great. I tried the vibrant green matte version and they are so easy to see in the air and on the grass. Instantly recognise that it’s your golf ball. My first comp with the green ball, I came second after losing a card play-off. I’ve ordered some more...🙂
I play super soft Orange. I tend to have a lot going on in my head when I'm standing over the ball and the bright colour feels like they help me focus on the ball.
Playing the vovik matt red for a while. Love them. Just need to restock. So easy to find on the fairway and off as well. I have dropped multiple shots from losing balls off in the rough just off the fairway. These really help me find those balls and save strokes!
I use the yellowy green pro v1x . Love bright colours and easy to find in the rough.
I've used the red and green balls, my thought was that I could find them easier in the rough. I don't like the red ones they are harder to keep track of mid flight when using my driver.
I found out about the matte colored balls a couple of years ago. They really stand out, particularly when the leaves begin to fall and in late afternoon games. It's a shame they don't make the premium balls in the matte finish because the covers on the matte balls feel hard.
I bought some pink Velocity’s for last winter as they stand out a lot better and you have a chance of seeing them if they dig in to mud. They are a pearlescent sort of finish. Tbh, I like the yellow Pro V1 ,I normally play, as it’s easier to follow it’s flight! Velocitys for winter!
I've used the fluro green Volvik Vivid balls and found them to be very easy to spot on the course. All the fluro matt balls I've used have looked great.
Recently changed to the taylormade soft response in matt red... For me I have issues tracking my shots and then finding them if they aren't middle of the fairway. So have been trying these to help, an so far so good... but as we hit autumn I may need to change to green
I've bought 6 boxes of Callaway Soft Matt Green and Bridgestone Green. Started with them last November. I won't buy anything else, now. Sensational colour, glows in the air and on ground on cloudy days. Buy them.
I've largely switched to the vibrant Bridgestone balls. I can see them much easier against cloudy or smokey California skies. I find them far easier for identification as well.
Love the way you two guys riff on each other. You should just play a full 18 match for both channels - great content always.
Yep I've been playing the Hi-vis yellow Srixons since they came out 13 years ago. I'm a 6 handicap and always had guys laugh on the tee till I stripe it 20-40 yards by them and can tell which ball is mine going down the FW or on the green. So much easier to follow in the air and find
My mate uses the Volvik Vivid balls and having tried all of the colours, the bright green and the bright orange are definitely the easiest ones to find, which I'm guessing is why Titleist have chosen those colours. I use the standard Velocity and for its price point its a good performing ball with a nice feel off the face.
In Texas when the grass goes dormant, this ball sticks out like a sore thumb. It's great for winter golf, which we don't usually have much of a winter here.
I love the matte green velocity. To me the matte green finish makes it easy to find when I slice it off the tee.
Good video, guys. My buddy played the Volvik crazy neon balls. I tried them for a couple of holes. They were so vibrantly colored that I couldn't see where the edge of the ball was. It just looked like a fuzzy, violently neon roundish thing on the ground. But also I'm a boring old traditionalist and I only play a glossy white ball. Now get off my lawn!
I like the green balls over white, I use the srixon z stars though. I've used velocity before, I thought they were pretty good myself. I like green cause if the way you can trace them through flight alot better.
I like to use the vice neon green balls around autumn/winter. Alot easier to find amongst fallen leafs and wet rough.
I’m using Vice Pro Soft which I bought earlier this year, these are a Matt white colour. I didn’t realise they were going to be Matt until they arrived, though it did say in the description, they say it makes it easier to see in flight. The only problem with them is that they tend to look dirty very quickly. I’ve noticed they’ve changed to a normal shiny finish now, the price has gone up though, quite a bit. I bought in bulk worked out less than £1.50 per ball equivalent price now £2.49. I assume they’ve made other improvements to the ball.
I use the lime green vice. Actually pretty easy to see.
I find them easier to find in the bush. As they are brighter than the surrounding grass and trees. Love the banter between the two of you it is similar to me and my fishing mate.
I play the callaway super hot red and green. I like the feel and distance. Easy to see and I do like not having to go up to everyone’s ball to see if it’s yours. Could possibly speed up pace of play.
Used lime green volvic and Vice for early mornings when light isn't great. Easy to see and don't camouflage in the rough as you may expect

Haha the lime greens are even harder to find
Play with these all the time, love them, easily found in rough, reflect light better than white.
I love the green on these. This specific green I have found out I can find it ANYWHERE. I haven't found another ball that I can see as well as this velocity green. Lol I love the color too.
Bright matte is nice to focus on while hitting. The matte red is very difficult to follow while in the air. All of them seem to have a strange feel off the putter face. Especially the volvik. I use a taylormade juno and it leaves marks on the insert. Have to stroke just a little firmer as well. Try playing with the volvik black ball. Super hard to find if not in the fairway.
I am presently using a Red Volvik Vivid and am really surprised at how well I am hitting them. I am hitting them longer on my drives, and good action on the greens. Where I am struggling is with the putting as they have a very different feel.
I play Vice balls and keep some yellow ones in my bag for reloads to take any potential confusion over ball numbers out of it.
Use callaway Matt in lower light during winter months in blue, green, orange, especially when playing by myself,
I tried some matte blue Wilson Staff balls in Spring, thinking they may be easier to see? We even found difficulty seeing them at a distance on the fairway. And in the rough on our links course.............not a chance.
Chris, you can't think of a basketball player who wore the number 33? Ever hear of a guy named Larry Bird? ;)

I use the matte color golf balls about 1/3 of my time out on a course, it is due to the ratio I pick them up 'shopping' in the woods on quiet days during (NFL) football games like today!
I used to love Wilson Staff Titanium. I really loved them balls. It was heart breaking, when one went in the pond. I could cry 😭❤️💖🙏
I always prefer a bright ball and love the rubbery texture. 👍👍👍👍
I walk and play alone mostly. Got tired of losing balls that were barely in the rough. I hit orange cheap balls off the tee and switch to a reasonable feeling ball for approach shots.
My brother in law uses them just cause he likes the colour and easier to find. It makes gold fun for newer people as well if they have the option between white and coloured balls typically they choose coloured
I'm off 13, I was even par over the last 12 holes today with a matte green velocity! Staying in the bag for now.
I use coloured balls (yellow usually) for all of the reasons you mentioned
I use the green and orange ,orange mostly in the ball you are playing . They are easy to see in the ruff .
I am much senior in age to you and Chris and have found that this color is much easier to see in the air and on the ground. However if you would have pulled out the reddish orange colored ones they are very hard to see.
I think I remember reading MyGolfSpy ball review where they advised against any matte finish balls due to poor wet condition performance.
I play the Srixin Soft Feel...a couple years ago I found one in yellow and discovered that it felt different when hit with the the driver and putter than the white ball. Maybe the dye in the cover changed the hardness a bit?
Our eyes are more sensitive to shades of green over any other color. My home course is brown this time of year so a bright soft ball is perfect especially in the near freezing temps. I also like the yellow pro V1s for the warmer seasons here because we have a lot of overcast days and the white balls disappear against the white sky.
If it counts I use a tp5x pix ball because I like the orange pattern when you roll the putt properly
I play a white ball June-first of October, but as leaves fall and grass gets mottled in color I play the lime green/chartreuse ball October-June. You can see those things glowing no matter where they land. Easy on old eyes.
I use the orange Velocity and it performs good and east to find great video
I like the bright colored balls for the fall and winter seem to be able to see them better.
I use the bright orange velocity because my 'aggressive fade' tends to end up in the bushes.. I lose way less balls now. :p
I use Bridgestone orange and play a round with 1 sleeve vs the white balls with 2 sleeves
I use the bright orange velocity because I find it easier for me to track in the air.
I started using Noodle yellow when I had cataracts as I could not see a white one in the air. Still use them. Down side I cannot get them to stop on a firm green.
I use the Bridgestone e12 yellows (matte finish) because they're incredibly visible.
love the green TM Distance on dark, cloudy days.can t find them inthe water tho...
I have been using the orange but as fall came around started losing them in the leaves. They make a blue one that I want to try but this is my go to ball if I buy new
Great video! You should try some Bridgestone's e12!
Green golf balls.... are strangely amazing! Can spot them a mile off
@james Robinson golf Good day James, US subscriber here, great vids, do you have any vids on alignment for drives and fairway shots? Thanks 🙏🏼
I do use the yellow Srixon Q-Star tour. It is a bit easier for me to see in flight
Try using the Volvic black or the dark blue ones that I've seen. They are a proppa nightmare
I've been playing callaway supersoft in matt orange and I find them a lot easier to see than white. But anything in the thick of the trees is hard to find! 😅
Love the volocity ball .. dont know about the green one !
I play the Matt Wilson duo in the autumn, so much easier to find on muddy leaf blown courses
I think they use the matt balls for the longest drive comps as the crowd can see them in the air
The show sould be called "Balls and all". Loving these videos.
I love a coloured ball. I prefer orange, but currently playing Srixon AD333 in green. £18.99 a dozen.
I’ve switched to using Srixon yellow balls. If you’re wearing polarised glasses they’re hard to lose.
When the leaves are on the ground do you think they will be easier to find?
I find the matte green easy to see.
Never played on grass the same colour green as the velocity. Does the matt ball grip better on wet greens? ( not skid like as glossy ball)
Sometimes it depends on the light for me. I find it difficult to see white on sunny days. I carry white, tour yellow and orange.
Yes I use Wilson optics green and red for the fun of them
He owes you a fiver and I’m currently hitting Callaway Chrome Soft Truvis in yellow and black. It’s more about being able to spot it in the rough easier than white for me. I find them really good around the green.
Do they keep their vibrant colour or do they wear easy and loose visibility quick
I love the high visibility balls. My fav is the Srixon Z☆
I like using orange balls, started to use them on chipping green easy to spot my balls compared to all others balls, then storting to use them in play. I like that it is easy to see which is my ball.
people who have trouble seeing red tees or balls against green are quite often colour blind to a greater or lesser degree!! I like any bright colour during the winter months, but any colour difficult to see when plugged.
I've played the Velocity, and didn't find it too bad. However, it was the white colored ball. I'm not a fan of the Neon colors. Do a review of the Bridgestone balls.
I use green or yellow balls for all the reasons that you said in the video
I just prefer the Tiger Bridgestone balls which are plain white, but I have used pink Callaway supersofts in the past.
