For example, Jason Statham is type cast in action movie roles as an antihero who often has bad things happen to him that he must fix using action packed fight scenes. You wouldn't expect to see him in a comedy movie or a children's movie. So the actress may regret being in the movie for type casting reasons, she doesn't like the idea that she played a supporting actress role for a CG anthropomorphic chipmunk, or maybe she is tired of receiving DMs from people asking if they can hide their nuts in her? Who knows.

Honestly, these movies were my childhood, so I have a soft spot for them. I went back and watched them all, and I can say that the first 2 were actually pretty good and enjoyable. The 3rd one was when the cringe started appearing and the 4th one was actually pretty bad and super annoying. Don’t hate on the first 2 though. Movies like that with no extreme plot where they’re normal… basically don’t exist anymore.

You can legally kill Alvin and the chipmunks because chipmunks are classified as vermin.

The gopher in the sewer is a reference to NASCAR racing. In the late 2000´s and early 2010's, FOX had a camera view that would look as if you were lying on the track and the cars ran over you. They called it the "Gopher Cam" and had a character devoted to it. Hence why he says "feels like I'm back at the racetrack."

As bizarre as these movies are, I still like them for the sake of my childhood. I used to watch them a lot when I was in elementary school. My teachers always played these movies during the last few weeks of school before summer vacation. I haven’t watched them in almost a decade and I’m thinking about rewatching them.

So, technically since Fox is how a part of Disney, and that means the chipmunks are Disney characters, I want Theodore in Kingdom Hearts 4

I know this is like 3 years later from when this video came out, but around 10:20, that is a gopher by the name of Digger. He was at one point a major mascot of Fox when it came to NASCAR. So basically, it was a NASCAR reference. It is also worth noting that at the time of this movie's creation, NASCAR had just past its peak in popularity, almost becoming the biggest sport in the US, being the second biggest sport behind the NFL.

I’m very critical with movies because I like to indulge in the drama industry commonly and I was also exposed to masterpieces and train wrecks at a very young age. These movies weren’t good at being movies, they were good at being a placeholder for childhood entertainment. I feel like most of the good reviews for these movies are just nostalgia which I completely understand. But if these movies were released this year, nobody would ever know they existed.

These movies had an important role in my childhood.

I know this video is over 2.5 years old but the reference you didn’t understand was one to an old NASCAR mascot. NASCAR had put camera’s in the track and gave it an animated gopher to appeal to kids named Digger. The idea was scrapped after a couple years and is pretty forgotten

10:19 as a nascar fan that’s actually pretty clever when they first introduced the camera that’s in the ground they called it a gopher cam and had a little animation of one that looks a lot like the one in the movie a super deep cut for racing fans tho

Honestly didnt remember the chippets being in the road chip

I feel like this quadrilogy has committed crimes against me, and this vid gives me a calming sense of justice.

Same with Pirates of the Caribbean 3. But no joke the CGI for the Bayformers movies are incredible, like having to render 30 foot tall robots and make them look like their realistically in the space as the human actors? Mind-blowing! When I was a kid, I actually thought they were real and worried that the humans would get squished if a Transformer didn't watch his step.

I am contractually obligated to listen to Stardust Speedway every time I hear the first few seconds of it in your outro.

Honestly these were my childhoods.

I can never look at David cross without thinking of Ian.

My favorite line of dialogue from Agent Suggs in Roadchip is “THIS IS LIKE DRIVING A PARAKEET!”

The gopher in the manhole I think is a reference to the gophercam that was used in nascar broadcasts. They used him as a mascot for it.

I can recall a similar situation to The Road Chip’s failure. If you don’t know, there’s this animated movie called UglyDolls, about dolls going to a perfect doll world or something. It’s a perfectly fine movie, but for some ungodly reason they decided to release it alongside Avengers: Endgame. They genuinely thought a movie with no connections to anything popular would do well when stacked against the climax of quite possibly the most popular franchise in cinematic history. Yeah, the movie made like 30 million on a budget 45 million.

I loved when that kid kept being mean to the chipmunks in the 4th one bc that's how I felt the whole time lol
