Yes! Too big and broad a menu is a definite red flag. Sorry about your experience. Rarely can a U.S. restaurant match what you are expecting from a traditional dish from another country. I'm so surprised that place is so busy. Must be a good location. Oh...and the waiter seemed very indifferent to your concerns as well... 😐

Every restaraunt that has a menu longer than a football field always fails. However there are some that remain in business because certain people don't seem to know any better than to order from somewhere so vile

I really appreciate that you are honest when the cuisine is not up to standard. There is also certain authenticity you have in your presentation when compared to other food utube channels, that out of respect I won’t mention. There’s also something very special about sharing food with friends, the shared history and the obvious shared respect that you two fellas have for one another. These New York episodes are simply excellent. It’s a 10 out of 10 from me!!🙏🙏🥊.x

Unfortunately here in Ireland most places will put beans and hash brown on a fry-up. No place for either on a breakfast.

A guy from Leeds with an American accent, where do you find these people, what a GREAT guy Martin is, his contribution is off the scale ,another great video from you guys.

I struggled to find good food on my New York trip or even a decent bar but I forgave it and would go back in a heartbeat

All I can say is whenever I see a restaurant with a menu that has way too many dishes on it I suddenly think uh-oh...and as for the Irish Breakfast..stop me if I'm wrong..but the Irish wouldn't have baked beans and hash browns in their breakfast. I give this disaster 1 out of 10...and I'm being generous.

Just a note on your comments about service charges at eateries. In Australia a rather concerning trend has started. That is restaurants are beginning to get you to sign up to give gratuities even before you order your food! This is just outrageous and worse than the cafes etc that have a hidden charge at the end of the mealtime!

Silly comment from a very untraveled Brit, but I have been impressed how New York doesn't seem as scary as I imagined, or how it sometimes gets depicted in film. I'm sure like any city there are better areas than others, but where you've been so far looks really friendly. Great video as always!

Lee and Martin are at a diner in the ritzy Upper East Side of Manhattan. This diner is located in an area where very rich (billionaires, multimillionaires and millionaires, many 'Old Money' New Yorkers) live.

This location is in a fairly posh neighborhood near Gracie Mansion, where the Mayor lives.

When in Florida some decades ago I was told to eat at Wolfies in Miami. That was a pleasant surprise and especially their rye bread and fresh veggies. Sometimes you can hit the jackpot in life.

Wolfie's and Pumpernick's were great places back in the 70s in Miami.

Those beans were a very strange colour 😕 And one thing I can't stand is undercooked bacon with elasticity fat 🤢 Also, that slice of tomato looked old too. Not for me either.

Loving all these vids in New York, disappointing that breakfast was shite, sure you will be enjoying better soon.

That's such a shame Daniel would cry, if you get down there try the New York Luncheonette at 130th E50th in mid town excellent (or it was 3/4 years ago) Great vlog again though.

To be honest I've not been impressed with any of the food in these recent US vlogs apart from one of the Indian restaurants Lee and Martin went to that looked amazing. The rest of the food has looked dry and bland. They mock food over here but we've really upped our game and so far the UK is winning hands down for me!

Seriously??? Outside the occasionally nice portion of fish & chips the grub is garbage...especially the breakfast. That first American diner breakfast was incredible. There is absolutely no comparison. 😆

lee just a tip for next time you order breakfast - if you have a look at the menu ( 5:26 ), the proper irish breakfast says that the eggs come 'sunny side up'. this is exactly how the eggs came out on the plate. sunny side up means that the eggs are not flipped and 'over easy' means they are flipped over. if you did request for them to be over easy instead then my apologies but just letting you know 👍

An Irish fry up has steak sausages, soda bread, potato scone, eggs, bacon and black pudding if desired and fried tomato. Times been to Belfast I never seen baked beans and hash browns

Always disappointing when you return somewhere that was previously good and then next time is awful. Especially when it's a recommendation!

Those darker colored baked beans are usually in a very sweet molasses-based sauce that tastes carmelly. Takes getting used to for sure. The hash Martin was served is pretty much what I’d expect in a diner - usually very salty and fatty. Black pudding/ white pudding in the US is best avoided. That breakfast didn’t look appealing at all - though I’d take the Irish bacon any day over US streaky bacon (which is mostly fat).

Took one look at the menu and saw it was a typical Greek owned diner. They’re all the same in America. Huge menu and low quality food. I have never been to a good Greek owned diner, so I stay away. Maybe they do exist, but I have yet to eat at one. I do enjoy Greek food and specific Greek food restaurants.

Bit of a generalization that. There's loads of very good genuine Greek owned diners and cafe's. You have to understand that most of these places are not run or owned by genuine Greek people they are mainly. Albanians, Turks, Kurds, Algerians etc pretending to be Greek.

Even the sausage wasn't bent! 🤣 didn't look great but like how honest you are. Other people might of just gone along with it because Martin recommended it but you were both honest! You should tip the server/ waiter/waitress 20% of the total of the bill if there is not a service charge added to your bill. The bill, if you pay with a credit card, will have a section where you add the tip to the total you are charged for the meal.

All looked poor to me, eggs, bacon not cooked proper, wrong toast, etc etc. Makes a UK supermarket brekkie look good. If it was good a couple of years, as the Silver Fox said the good cooks must have gone. 3/10 from me.

Bad enough they get order wrong and it tastes awful they charge you silly money on top.

The restaurant itself looks nice, but the food is one step above The Palace Restaurant (London). I'm surprised more places don't offer a choice between hash browns or pan fries like some places I go here in BC. And none of the hash browns you've had have green onions or red/green peppers chopped in along with the potato -- which makes them even more delicious. Watching this makes me appreciate Chef Dave at Porterhouse and the Sizzling Stone in Keswick more.

I'm thinking even 0.5 was generous! Felt so sorry for Martin and you can tell he wants to show you a good time. Loving the videos mate, can't wait for the next one!

As i mentioned in a previous video, this is my little holiday in New York too this year lol. This was a disappointing breakfast Mac in comparison to the first day at Laurels which was a 10/10, it looked really poor, I was going to say 4/10 cos its still NYC, but maybe if I could taste it 2/10 Can we go back to Laurels please :-)

Blimey 😳 that seemed like an unfortunate experience, if ever I get to New Yoik and visit a diner I think I’d have the local food ! I can have the English breakfast at home anytime ! Anyway I don’t mind fatty bacon and I like my eggs sunny side up as our American cousins would say, as long as the white is cooked, anyway kidda if it was as bad as you say then I respect your honesty and your opinion so I’ll give it 1/10, shame but still a good video 👍🏻

Haven't tried a real southern breakfast made with soul. All you gotta do is go south of the Mason Dixon Line. Expansion often times destroys a places quality. If you don't hear the cooks frying up the bacon then the breakfast isn't the best. Greasy spoon is where the best breakfast is served

TAXI TO WETHERSPOONS - Yuk ! it didn't start well with that awful coffee that looked like dishwater & went down bank from there - just out of interest did you leave a tip ? Poor service & awful food - didn't deserve anything - 0.5/10 for putting the heating & lights on !

I don't think it's a beautiful plate of food but I'm sure it tastes good. The hash brown is homemade and the beans are the original American version . You don't go to a foreign country and expect authentic British/ Irish food.

Going to States in a few months. Right. I know not to order beans in USA. I was going to swerve "their" streaky bacon, but that piece of back bacon looked like a horror show by comparison. Those sausages looked a bit low quality. It's going to be my personal mission to avoid cheese on any meal for the duration - hopefully it's possible. 😀

When I was in NY I had a breakfast at Ellen’s Stardust dinner in Times Square on Broadway the singing while you eat dinner . I had the corned beef ash but it was a full plate full and it was gorgeous. Also went to Junior’s famous for there cheesecake but they do breakfast s didn’t like the breakfast was awful they gave me danish bacon what I thought it was the uk version but it came out looking like a big fat lump of sausage looking thing and tasted awful and the eggs undercooked and slimy . I do recommend the cheesecake there x

The Kellog Diner in Brooklyn is the worst diner in NY but that place does look really bad 🤢

I thought that the breakfast looked okay - seven out of ten - restaurant itself looked a bit plasticky and generic and menu was maybe too big. In no way was the breakfast quite as bad as in video description.

Lazy cooking. Both the sausage and the black pudding had the unmistakable look of having been deep fried. Eggs were cremated underneath. Beans, served in what looked like dishwater. Uncooked bacon. WTF ?
