Any contract DET gave out was going to be a "dud" no matter what they did over that period of time

In recent years, the number of Japanese players going to MLB has been increasing. While we are always challengers, the size of their contracts raises expectations excessively, which is somewhat disappointing. NPB should quickly establish rules that allow players to challenge MLB early on and return to their original team if they can't perform well.
