Nurse is so much better than most fans give him credit for. He does everything well on the ice, while of course he does have the occasional brutal turnover, it's not surprising when he plays so many minutes and against the other teams best players. Saying Kane's contract is the worst on the Oilers is objectively a terrible take, there really aren't any bad contracts and if Nurse's is the worst, I'll take that any day.

I’m a Kings fan and $11 mil is a lot of money. If you look at #1 D in other contending teams, Doughty comes up a little short. With the minutes he plays I think 9 mil is more fitting. But let’s be honest, he’s being paid for the 2 cups and this is the last loyalty contract from those days.

I also think it’s worth noting that some players don’t get paid just for their stats, they get paid for their leadership, insight, and experience. The loyalty part definitely comes into play but yeah. Just adding my two cents!

Myers out here crippling the canucks every time he touches the puck at 6 million with 1-2 goals a season to show for it but you pick mikheyev who averages .8 points a game at 4mil thats a great deal.

Garland. Garland. Garland. It’s Garland and no one else but Garland. He’s the last of the bad contacts from previous management. Mikheyev was injured last year but looked great when we had him last year. This year he looks even better and is currently at a point per game pace. Garland has one goal and despite all his efforts lately (he had 7 shots on net last game) we’ve seen enough to know by now he just isn’t productive enough to warrant over 4million cap hit. Trading him could be difficult but if they do it frees up much needed cap space as Canucks have none at the moment. They could sign Kane ffs.

My god this is bad. The “poorly run” Flyers have been run by this regime for 7 months and didn’t make any of the signings you’re criticizing. And two of the four aren’t on the Flyers anymore. And Ristolainen had a good season last year. And Carter Hart has a bad contract? In what world? Say “hi” to Colton Payarko for me.

risto is a horrid deal, but i'll hear the argument for cal petersen. his most grievous errors were on edmonton and montreal. it's nurse for edm and gallagher for mtl, and it's not even a debate.

Chiarot's contract is bad but I fail to see how a team with the fifth most real cap space and best players either RFA or already under contract for the immediate future is being "weighed down" by the contract.

26:20 As far as the Adin Hill contract, it is worth pointing out that VGK has Hill and Thompson locked up through next season at under 6 million AAV. True, this is mainly because of Thompson's absurdly team friendly contract, but it means that even overpaying Hill isn't an issue since the goalie position isn't taking up all that much of the VGK cap (and also Hill's deal is, once again, for just two years). Were it a longer contract, I would absolutely agree with your take. However, I cannot see the Hill-Thompson duo managing to both flame out... and that is what would be needed for the Hill contract to truly be stinking up the joint.

Term is taken into account in this list, and Myers is in the final year of his contract. However, I’d argue Garland should be on here over Mikheyev.

Miles Wood isn't even that bad of a contract, it's cheap, long, and has good upside and stylistically, he fits right in. I think if we are calling that the worst contract on the Avalanche, they have a ton of great contracts.

I'm watching these as a lightning fan it's crazy how many of these are players we've lost in the last few seasons. I'm just surprised these teams would sign them for so much more, based off results produced from them being in a system for years and are likely to not have similar production for some time, and in the twilight years of their careers. Like I love the players, but surely that sounds like a bad deal to anyone.

Good video. The only thing that is confusing that you've done wrong is sometimes you say the AAV price and sometimes you say the whole contract. So it's difficult to follow along to see if somebody's making 2.1 million. If that's in a 2-year span, or if it's in a one-year span, catch my drift?

Honestly the Wood contract, here in Colorado, has been view favorably. Yes, it was a long contract but the cap hit is so low.

Skinner 2 years ago scored 33 goals 63 pts, last year 35 goals and 82 pts and this year again is on pace for 37 goals and 70-ish point. He is improving year after year, and he is one of if not their top forward. 9M/y doesn't look much like an overpayment these last seasons. Their current worst contract is Connor Clifton's at 3.3M for the next 3 years. Clifton is horrible defensively, zero offensive skill and a fake tough guy. He is barely an NHLer.

Minnesota doesn't have any terrible contracts at the moment. I don't necessarily disagree with Gaudreau but he is currently one of the best shootout specialists in the NHL which has it's own value. You nailed it with he mentions for the buyout of the toxic-two.

Not what actually is. Erik is tied for 4th all time in Norris trophy winners and still has gas in the tank. No defenseman playing today can say the same thing. He didn’t need 101 points to win the Norris any other time. Aside from last year, he won one in 2012 with 78 points and the other in 2015 with 66 points, which he is on pace for right now. It’s not like his last notable award was several seasons ago. Carter is the reason we couldn’t keep good depth on the roster that was outperforming him like Zucker. He’s been bad for a while. Way better options with no clause and half the price.
