I visited Dublin recently and it was the ugliest, dirtiest and most disappointing city I've ever been.. the city is completely dilapidated. The free museums were cool but for the rest I wouldn't recommend Dublin to my worst enemy... It's crazy that it's the capital of the 4th richest city in the world, no way to tell, it seemed almost like a third world country compared to the European mainland.

Finally a reasonable comment! I’m glad to find someone who saw Dublin from a similar perspective. For sure man, I felt maybe I was slightly naive In judgement from all the feedback but m this definitely backed up what I saw…totally agree, every city in Europe I have visited has been 10 times better in every way.

@@thomasmh I'm the other way. I used to assume that Dublin was a dirtier city than most in Europe, until I traveled. Much to my surprise, Florence was filthy, Brussels was quite drab and boring, even downtown New York is something of a dump. But the most disappointing city that I have ever visited was definitely Los Angeles, just a featureless low rise, smog ridden urban sprawl with absolutely no landmarks. I was shocked to see that the famous Hollywood walk of fame was just a filthy cracked and broken sidewalk.

I’m Irish myself and have lived in Manchester 21 years but have extended family in Rural Ireland - I’ve also lived in Dublin for 3 years before 2000 and sadly, it’s exactly what I’ve found in Dublin over the years on my visits home, even before Covid, but after Covid, passing through Dublin City Centre has become a much worse and much more depressing experience, it’s even worse than Piccadilly Gardens here in Manchester - my last visits home were December 2019, August 2022 and October 2022 and in that timescale alone, Dublin City Centre has significantly declined - I’d stopped flying in 2010 so my visits were on the ferries from Holyhead into Irish Ferries terminal in North Wall (the safest part of Dublin) but Dublin Busaras Coach station at 6.30 am is a terrifying experience and is in completely disgraceful condition - O’ Connell St, North Earl St, Abbey St, Henry St, Moore St, the Quays, Westmoreland St, College Green, Dame St, Grafton St, Stephen’s Green have all become totally dangerous even in daytime, full of beggars and drug addicts - the dealers in Moore St are being forced out of the area and it’s totally disgraceful - the Irish government are simply not doing enough to protect the safety of visitors to our country and they are not giving the Gardai the legal powers and the resources they need to tackle the problems around low level criminal activity and ASB, as they would sooner attack Irish patriots and those trying to protect our country and misuse laws around hate crimes and hate speech - every TD in Dáil Éireann from the Taoiseach down of all parties are traitors to the Irish people and thier actions have resulted in the disgraceful scenes that you have witnessed in Dublin, as I have - it’s clearly got worse from the time I was last home in October 2022 and it’s both disgusting and heartbreaking in equal measure

Dubliner here, it was a class place to grow up and mad buzz on nights out up until a few years ago but it has gone down hill rapid. Between the unvetted colonisation of non Irish that are replacing the native population, culture, traditions, language, morals and values, the commercialisation and the over pricing it's soul has been bled dry. Makes my stomach turn with sadness as I don't really have a home to call home anymore. Literally watching the demolition of thousands of years of culture and heritage get raped and pillaged by the globalist WEF brigade as we speak.

Grew up in Dublin in the 90s, to keep it was always a bit of a dump to be honest. Definitely from the 2000s onwards it was wildly overpriced too, so nothing new. The last time I spent a few months in Dublin with my family, I noticed the junkies on the streets and the scumbags trying to rob people were all Irish. Is that the native morals and culture your referring to 😅? Obviously scapegoating immigrants is very silly when we are literally a nation of immigrants who brought our culture to America and the UK. We also migrated in our millions, and were met with much of the same rhetoric. The problem with Dublin is a lack of investment by successive governments in homes and services for the working class. Unbridled commitment to capitalism and years of putting profit before people leads to social degradation. It’s a shame, because Dublin could be a great city.

When an English is verbally trashing your town, things have really gotten bad! You are right that the pandemic messed the town up a lot.
