He has no clue. The engine is noisey due to the MultiAir valve actuators that can control each individual valve independently. The engines are made in the USA of an Italian design. There are tons of these engines in Fiats, Jeeps, Dodge and others. I inspect used cars for a living, and have seen lots of these engines with lots of miles. The weak transmissions are no worse than Nissans, Ford's, GMs . What I see most with these cars are the people that bought them did not take care of them. Same with most GM cars.

That aligns with my experience. After 105k miles, my 2012 200S Flex Fuel is running great. But I stayed up on basic maintenance, oil changes etc. I have no major issues. The worst thing was at 80k miles my alternator died had to replace it. And now at 100k Ive only had to recharge AC two or three times. THis year after 12 years I'm having to go thru an EVAP light driving cycle. But again 12 years old and over 100k miles. Im satisfied. And looks do matter!!

I was a Chrysler tech for years. We actually didn't have a lot of problems with these or the Dodge Darts. The 2.4 was famous for needing the thermostat. Yes they are very difficult to work on, but if you take care of it and change the oil regularly like anything else, it will be fine...and God help you if the Evaporator core starts leaking.

The 2.4 in the 200 (and jeep cherokee/compass and dodge dart, Ram City) is produced in Dundee Mi. It was first designed during the DiamlerChrysler days, first seeing production in 2007. The engine was substantially upgraded in 2013, including the usage of Fiat's multi-air variable valve timing system. And the engine produces 184hp.

I bought a brand new 2013 Dodge Dart GT, fully loaded, same exact engine as this Chrysler. Drove the piss out of it (probably cuz I was mad it wasn’t a v8). Had one strange electrical issue but all they had to do was reset the computer or something. Free. Never once had another electrical problem. Everything worked. Changed my oil religiously every 5k miles (manual said 8k I believe). 137k miles later a deer totaled it. I honestly miss that car, lots of great tech and not bad for a four banger. Maybe I got lucky, maybe it just comes down to people taking care of there cars. I took care of mine and she treated me well.

When I lived in the UK the transmission in my Honda Jazz (Fit) started to fail. I purchased the vehicle new, and even though the mileage was still low it was just outside of the warranty period. I took it along to the dealer and not surprisingly they did not want to know and told me they would not fix for free. I called Honda UK and they agreed straightaway to cover the cost, they admitted they were aware of the transmission problems with some of these cars and were very very helpful. Honda UK contacted the dealer the same day and told them under no uncertain terms that they must fix the problem for free, sure enough I got a very apologetic call from the dealer and they agreed to replace the transmission at no cost. Lesson is, don't take no for an answer, especially from a dealer.

I owned a new 4 cyl 2016 Dodge Dart and it was reliable, fun and full of features. Ended up handing it down to my son who sold it at 65,000 miles since he wanted an MX-5. Never needed repairs and was a quiet and smooth ride. Ended up buying a loaded Chrysler 200c which had been sitting on the dealer lot for 13 months. Got a 30% discount and this car now has 42,000 trouble-free miles. The Pentastar V6 offers 295 hp and when we take the car on road trips it gets 33 MPG. The suite of safety features it impressive, including blind spot alert, lane keep but the adaptive cruise control is the best option I have ever gotten on a car. We drove from Los Angeles to Oakland and once I got on the freeway near our house I didn't touch the accelerator pedal or brakes the whole way. The self-parking feature is nifty too. At the time I priced a comparably equipped Ford Fusion and the Monroney was over $43,000. My 200 was under $30,000 out-the-door and I haven't looked back since.

Just to name a couple example of how bad this car is

The tigershark 2.4l were built in Dundee, Michigan not italy. The only Fiat tech in that engine was the multiair system that replaced the intake camshaft. As the car itself it was released with terrible transmission calibrations because the release was rushed to get the current cherokee out. Once those calibrations were updated the car was actually pretty good. But the damage had been done and people stopped buying them. But suprise, the current Jeep cherokee is exactly the same vehicle with a different body.

Scotty, ive been a longtime subscriber but honestly i feel like you didn't do any research about these cars before making this video. Yes this replaced the seabring, but dosent share the platform and it has no relation to it whatsoever. Also it received a 5 star safety rating for the side pole, which is one more than that 2016 Camry you keep mentioning. And for the brake pads there are 2 options not 6, the 4 cylinder gets the smaller ones(305mm) and the v6 gets the bigger ones(330mm). My 2015 Chrysler 200s will hit the 100k mile mark in about a week or two. It's Driven almost 100 miles a day and its only had two issues. first was my alternator(most likely from my sound system) but it was under warranty and second was a thermostat housing, which was a $35 fix i did in my driveway in about 20 minutes. I bought it for $18k (used with 15K miles on it) fully loaded with the 3.6L and awd, its been nothing but reliable and a blast.

I'm surprised that Scotty hasn't been sued over this video. I own a 2016 200 with the TigerShark engine. I got it with 83000 miles on it. Other than damage done when the previous owner lost control and went off road and broke the transmission, which hadn't been fixed when I obtained it I have had no problems. His "facts" are as accurate as the news on Fox News. It is my guess that Scotty owns a lot of Toyota stock. I think that the 200 in this video is probably the first 200 that Scotty has ever had his hands on.
