Bunny was 100% the worst book I read this year. Followed by that nonsense Local Woman Missing. Horrible.

I think the worst book I read this year was Nothing But Blackened Teeth. I have no words for how bad it was. 🤭 At least it was short.

I totally get why the dragon is on the cover of Priory of the Orange Tree. Because the conflict connected to the dragons is the thing that connects all these different story lines. And if this was a "normal" fantasy book, the cover would match with the story. But Priory does so many things different by treating the Dragon threath as something like climate change. Which means this book isn't really about this conflict but it is about this world and its characters and how their lifes is influenced by this threat. The point was getting all these different people and nations to work together. So the final confrontation was a little bit of an afterthought. And I don't know why I accepted that so early on but to me there always was something happening because seeing all these characters make decisions and interact with each other was the main plot. But I totally get why this was not enough for you. Maybe both the cover and synopsis could have been more reflective of the book.

Oh man, now I’m nervous for Priory. I’ve had it in my shelves for years. Maybe I’ll give it a try this upcoming year to see if I chuck it or like it and keep it. I need to start unhauling my overflowing shelves 😂

If you like reaalllly slow books that are mostly just about character development you might like it. If you want action/adventure fantasy this ain’t it 😂

The Priory of the Orange Tree was definitely one of my worst reads of 2020. I love the character Truyde, though she was out of the picture far too early, there were 200 pages where she wasn't even mentioned, then when she is mentioned again, really awful what happened, it was an Akame Ga Kill moment, except that in Akame Ga Kill, I had other characters to root for becsides Chelsea, and in Priory of the Orange Tree there is none except Truyde worth my time. And nothing that happened in it was worth the hype, the dragons were not the kind I wanted to see, like yes they talked but they mostly said like mystical sort of stuff, the settings were terrible, and it was also the first book to show me that a Sapphic romance isn't necessarily something to cheer for, never have I see two women shoehorned as a couple before who did not belong together.

I just started getting back into reading thrillers this year and my least favorite were: The Girl on the Train Local Woman Missing Before She Knew Him

Didn't like The Ocean at the End of the Lane either. Read it almost ten years ago and thought it was too dreamy and weird.

You are so right about Tarryn Fisher endings. I have no idea why she likes to throw in such ridiculous things in the end. And Stephen King seems to recommend anything he’s asked to lol.

Survive the Night was hooorrible. Confessions was one of my worst reads. I can’t figure out why people like that books. It was so horribly boring and poorly written or translated I can’t tell which.

I haven't read "Survive the Night" yet but this constant disbelieving that women would use a ride share: I frequently used ride shares up until about 10 years ago, during university days and early work years to commute back home or for trips. Many people I knew did this. I think it is just people who are not familiar with services like this that think it is such a weird, dangerous thing to do. These days women get often told that life is so much scarier than it is, my opinion clearly, I mean #metoo did so much good but I also feel like women nowadays are much more scared than they need to be thanks to fears being pushed on them. Not just basing this on my experiences but also female friend's who used they same service. And I don't know if it is just badly executed in the book but this was a normal thing to do when trying to save some money, in pre-Uber days especially. So, fair enough to not like the book for all kinds of reasons but to me that aspect sounds like a very normal thing a young woman would do.

Her getting in the car with the dude is just the start of the ridiculousness of the book haha. There are sooooo many bad decisions compounding on one another, even when she is actively thinking "he could totally be the killer" and is given multiple opportunities to get out of the situation.

I was hesitant to buy A Slow Fire Burning after hearing how it wasn't good. I did end up buying it and I love it! 5/5 stars. I also did not like Survive the Night. I thought it was awful, I skimmed it. I read Home Before Dark and I LOVED IT! It was so creepy. So I bought all of Riley Sager's books thinking they were like that. Nope. Final Girls isn't good and neither is Survive the Night. I still have to read his other two but I'm pushing it off

DNF'd Survive the Night, it was so bad. Worst book for me was Behind her Eyes. What a mess. Also, Flock seems like fanfiction that someone self published. What publisher would publish crap like that.

I want you to know....you have broken my heart by putting ACOFAS on this list 😢😆 just kidding (I mean I’m not, that hurt) but I get why people don’t like that book. It is definitely not plot driven and just to spend time with the characters without all the doom and gloom. Hopefully you like ACOSF better 🤞🏻🖤
