Good Production
Use springsteel leaf once quenched in oil and cleaned then retempered back to aprox 250deg ( heat with flame till dark brown purple color it will be the tuffest blade you ever used a spring maker for 26yrs i made chizels to cut tension springs wire in a kick press hardly had to shapen it leaf welded onto mild steel no worrys works great Tap it with a rod it should have a high pitch ting sound - Mild steel is dull

Yes. I use spring steel for my knives too. It's really hard to beat the finished quality of such a knife. I harden it up in oil and let it temper at 250 C for about an hour before I shut down the oven and let it cool overnight.

Just watched the old 1944 US government film ( propaganda) about the iron/steel mills in Youngstown Ohio USA. Compare and contrast of the 2 is amazing .
I remember watching TV as a kid, and there were about 18 minutes of advertisements per hour. If you keep up the "good work", you'll be able to squeeze 20 minutes of advertisements into your videos, making them unworthy of watching at all. *Just sayin'.😮*

Some, like Zwilling, use ice hardening for their knives. It is a little more expensive than traditional hardening but the quality speaks for itself. The hardening process is a science in itself. Skilled knifemakers look at the temperature for a specific sort of steel and can manage to get it precise within 20 degrees. It's a skill that requires years of experience. That's why handmade Japanese knives are so sought after.
