Ok a little correction here. The X43-A did not break any records. It was destroyed by remote control due to the ship's instability. The X43-B made mach 7. X43-C hit mach 10. How do I know? I worked on the project.

Interesting side note: at those speeds at ground level, the aircraft would burn up quickly due to heating from the air. Hypersonic aircrafts have to fly high up in the sky where the air is thinner since otherwise they generate too much heat. This is why you should be skeptical of things said about hypersonics.

If it'd existed, it would need a turboscramjet engine, meaning that it's a hybrid of a normal turbojet engine combined with the scramjet so it could propel itself to the speeds required to turn on the scramjet

Yeah this was done cuz I yes I helped built the scramjet engine rebuild the fuel injection I build a lot of parts on it how social part of the test team we took it through its paces it started with a 600 mi an hour wind going through its front end and out the back we pushed it all the way up to Mark 11 we have the only facility that can build new building do that at the time the scramjet engine was very successful and if we could push more through it we would have but they didn't want us to blow it up this particular design or back from the 1960s we dug it out of a conix or the first try to make it back then the problem was they didn't know how to deal with liquid oxygen this particular engine they were trying to develop a scramjet engine for the x 33

That would be the fastest manned aircraft. But it is a rocket plane. I believe the SR-71 is the fastest air-breathing manned aircraft. The X-43 is the fastest air-breathing aircraft.

A scramjet engine infact does having moving parts. A scramjet is a traditional jet engine that can “transform” into a ramjet. A ramjet is the one without any moving parts.
