I play DND every now and then, kinda hard getting a group together though. There’s plenty I’ve always wanted to play though!
Colin left out the best part of what Gotrek and that other Dwarf were arguing about. The two of them were mercenary buddies back before Gotrek became a slayer and haven’t talked for about a hundred years. Gotrek has spent the whole book calling him an Oathbreaker and when Felix finally gets an answer out of Gotrek he says that he broke his oath to equally all of the spoils of their mercenary adventures. The spoils in question were a book of poetry given to him by a woman he slept with which he has kept with him all these years. When pressed on it by Felix it turns out he doesn’t remember the woman’s name and that he never read the book which is filled with just the worst poetry imaginable. Felix then proceeds to rip the book in half in frustration, gives one half to each dwarf and tells them to get over it.

And Felix was sure for a few seconds after he he calmed down that they were both about to kill him before the humor of it all was noticed by the other dwarves. 😂
Albion is likely where Mystery of the Druids took place. Also, force Colin to do a positive Bretonnia video. As someone who loves the faction, I want him to have to bear his hate. All for love of course.

1:21:50 Colin made an error here, there are in fact 5 2nd Generation Slann left - Adohi-Tehga, Huinitenuchli and Mazdamundi (said to be the most powerful) are the 3 named of these Slann (this is based on my old 4th Gen rulebook, if this has changed feel free to correct me)
I will never understand people holding the fact that the Lady is Lileath against Bretonnia. Half of the Empire's pantheon are elven gods, and the same for the various southern realms.

Love Andy's humor. His comments bring a smile to my face. Even when he misses the mark with his guesses, he still makes it funny.
I'm kinda Seething Colin never brought up Gigachad Drachenfels. Isn't it already a big enough crime that GW refuses to acknowledge him anymore?
While there sadly isn't the city of Oktoberfesten in the Empire, there is places like Flensburg. Which is not only a real german city, but has also been visited by our favorite duo, Gotrek and Felix.
I'm really interested in the Lizardmen. I also think it would be interesting to talk about them since they are kinda the opposite of Skaven. Beastmen would also be cool.
All of this fantasy stuff is gonna get me actually into reading Warhammer fantasy.

It's all I have read. Read the 12 Slayer books at least 5 times through. I finally got into 40K because I couldn't find much fantasy on YT.
Well, my favorite factions are the Tomb Kings, the Lizard Man and the Dwarfs. I would love to have a begginer to experto about these. We can never have enough Settra simping anyway. Also, Kroq-Gar smashing people is fun to read about.
Man no wonder a lot of people say that fantasy is better than 40k. While not every human nation is getting a ton of love (even then fantasy China sounds badass) it sounds like the lore is so much more balanced compared to 40k. Maybe I should check out a few Fantasy novels 🤔
This is my favorite warhammer podcast, funny but actually has information on the setting.
Albion has a few more things going for it. It's an island shrouded in a magical mist - because Britain - that stops people from reaching it. So the island was largely isolated for most of the Old World's history. Until they had an event where the mists parted, and everyone rushed in to either protect/topple some standing stones that keep Chaos at bay, or to loot the place for treasure. But even in that event, you didn't get army rules for Albion's natives. You could only take either good or evil druids as support characters, and a thing called a Fenbeast, as part of a different army. That is, if you're using official material. The Warhammer Armies Project created an Albion army list for its unofficial, fan-made 9th edition. You're intended to use a lot of historical Celtic/Irish/Dark Age Germanic models for this, although the list also includes things like giants, pixies, centaurs, and more fenbeasts. So you've got an army with more grounded warriors, naked berserkers covered in magical woad body paint, sword-maidens, and fairies. It's an interesting mashup, and breaks the usual Warhammer trend of Civilization = Good, Wilderness = Bad (Wood Elves excepted, of course). A good way to look at the fan-made Albion list is basically "What if Conan-style barbarian warriors, except they're allowed to not be explicitly evil?" Because if Chaos Warriors/Marauders, Norsca, and Beastmen seem too Chaos for you, and you're using 8th Ed WHFB as your go-to system, maybe give Albion a try.
I mean Sigmar did do a lot of stuff during his mortal life. 😄 Also it’s always nice to see people talk about Warhammer Fantasy. Oh yeah, the Kingdoms of Ind are home to the Tigermen, the Hinterlands of Khuresh is where the Snakemen live. Hopefully the Old World game could expand on the lore for these areas of the Warhammer world.

One minor point, Slayers can NEVER be forced to take the oath, it is always voluntary. Plus it is not a death wish, they are not suicidal. They want to redeem themselves, and you can't redeem yourself if you are dead to some random stuff. Lorebeards over on either Sotek's or Andy Law's channel have a great episode on slayers. it's like 3 hours but still a lovely watch.
*You look down on us and think we are little better than barbarians, but you should be glad we are, for without us here, the northern tribes would be dining on the flesh of your children in your burning homes. But for the courage that flows in our veins would your lands be theirs. Look down on us? You should get on your knees and thank us every day.* - Vitalia Kovash, Kislevite Winged Lancer

To understand why the chivalric area is called Bretonia, but it has nothing to do with albion/IRL UK, one must grasp the role that Brittany (the NW penunsula region of france) played in arthurian legend. It's not britonia as in great britain, it's bretonia as in brittany.

also, the empire isn't "germany," close, but distinctly diffferent, it's actually much more based on the holy roman empire. The HRE had a lot of overlap with germany, but they're not directly analogous in language, culture, or geography/borders. The governmental system of the empire is especially based on the HRE as opposed to The German Reich.
Now I get to learn more about fantasy lore, let's go!

LoreCrimes TTRPG campaign when? Also lore on anything fantasy keep it up
I was going to suggest Skaven by reflex, then realized that was the last episode. I'm actually curious about how much Beastman lore there really is, they're the faction I plan to go in-depth on next but it's gonna be a while so I've only nibbled a tiny bit. And to answer your question; I'd say that I like Bretonnia and find their Arthurian style and general aesthetic really cool. But they're also absolute idiots and that fondness won't prevent any mocking for how genuinely awful they are. I remember back in like 5th or 6th edition I thought they were the main human faction, since I always saw Bretonnia stuff at thrift stores and I think their army book was really prominently displayed at my Wizards of the Coast store. Assuming there's more to go into, I would love to learn more about Norsca. I really need to read Sigvald's book soon, I believe it takes place either in Norsca or the Chaos Wastes and I'm super excited to see more of him. I'm not joking, I have been wracked with genuine guilt off and on for the fact that I cut Sigvald from my favorite list in the comment on the Skaven video in favor of Fulgrim. I love them both for different reasons, but which I like more fluctuates a lot. Fulgrim is genuinely cool whereas Sigvald is more memey cool (i.e. purging a region of all life because they sold him some wine that was like a 7/10 at best), but they're still both the best human in their respective settings. Oh, and apparently Khuresh has a lot of naga. I really thought there was a campaign like Isle of Blood set there, but it seems not. Weird. Shame, as we could really use some snake people.
The Elder scrolls Orcs are the best Orcs among the fantasy universe.
Did yt keyword this video: London? I find that funny.
Okay, since Pancreas kinda skipped over the Brets here. While they do not favor Guns and cannons and such, it's because Gilles Le Breton was slain by an arrow. This led to a pathological hatred of ranged combat by the Nobility and all the Knights that come from them. However, they do make exceptions here and there. Obviously the peasants are allowed ranged weapons cause they dont have the trappings of nobility to deal with. As well. Bretonnian ships are protected by a catapults, and cannons. As there is some rule that states guns aren't allowed on Bretonnian *Land*, but water be fine. As well, while there is a pretty harsh divide between the ruling classes and the common people, there is actually a growing Middle class in bretonnia, Primarily made of merchant types that the Nobility depend on, which allows them more freedoms. Finally. While the lady of the Lake may be an elven goddess, Lileath has been stated to have more or less given up on most of Elf kind with exception to a select few Asrai that SHe had plans to hide away in another world and allow Elves to start over. The Grail Knights were to be their guardians, and The Lady of the Lake only takes them to her side when they die Speaking of Grail Knights, They are living demi-gods roughly on par with Chaos warriors and Chosen. Each Grail Knight has different potential powers, some have regeneration, others a commanding presence, enhanced Strength is universal and they in the lore do not get tired. Gilles and His grail companions were the most badass human warriors bar none. Even Sigmar couldn't compete with them. To put this into perspective, according to Brettonian lore, Gilles and His Companions ending protecting a City at one point that was under a combined assault from Norscans, the Undead and a skaven assault from beneath the city. They were all grail Knights at this point and split up to protect the city at different parts and were more or less alone as the city has few defenders. They slaughtered all 3 armies more or less by themselves. They were unmatched in combat.. Now as for the Empire has Gunpowder thing, the Bretonnians don't care. The Lady protects them. While it doesn't always work, And generally you need to be high in the ladies's favor, There have been more then a few occasions where bullets and cannon balls just bounce off or can't hurt their Knights. Also, Armor and Shields. The Empire doesn't have modern day guns, what they're working with would still be reliably stopped by Shields, Plate armor, chainmail and gambesons. Factor into that the fact that Bretonnians aren't stupid and still have common military sense, they will use their far superior cavalry to out maneuver their foes. Bretonnia is still around as a nation because their warriors are just that good and they dont need to rely on advanced technology to give them the edge. They have Magic to help out too, and it's pretty hard to argue that a comet decimating your enemies Infantry isn't effective. Anyone whose played the tabletop knows how effective the Blessing of the Lady is at making their Knights super hard to kill.
My first exposure to tabletop was getting the lord of the rings boxed game for Christmas in 2001 (age 11) followed shortly by a subscription to white dwarf and while I was skeptical at first they ran a series in the fantasy section that was a system for a chaos warbands mini game called path to glory I got my neighbor into it about that time and the champion of my first chaos warband went on to act as lord of my army of chaos undivided I hobbied religiously for the next 4 years or so we spent hours painting and modeling and playing little battles to the best of our ability I played in a tournament at gw’s Memphis location at like 14 which was awesome I got smoked but it was a great experience but didn’t prevent me from deciding I was too cool to be into toy soldiers for the next few years abandoning my extremely ambitious Dawi Zharr and not picking up a brush until 09 at which point I was old enough to realize I didn’t give a fuck whether anybody thought my little dudes were cool I enjoyed them the modeling and lore was always my favorite aspect of the hobby and the Mardi Gras themed vampire counts project I started about this time was easily my best work though still not finished I was too broke to keep up the pace and was not very active when they killed the verse and didn’t realize it until I picked up a wire dwarf at my local one day but I still Have my old models for the most part and can’t wait to get back to those chaos dwarves. Great video!
