A collection of original photographs showing the Salons of eminent designers of the Belle Epoque period in Paris, including Paquin, Worth, Doucet, Callot Sisters etc. There are many shots of the various salons themselves as well as the fashions of the period, but also a large number of behind the scenes shots showing the actual design and construction of the gowns including sewing rooms, cutting rooms, embroiderers rooms etc, which are a wonderful insight into the life of these famous Salons.

Magnifique vidéo ,avec de splendides photographies ,et de merveilleuses robes sur de sublimes femmes ...comment ne pas rêver devant tant d'élégance et de savoir-faire ,autant des couturières et couturiers de renom ,que des "premières" et des petites mains ....j'ai toujours été fasciné par cette élégance à la française ,unique au monde ,et pendant quelques années ,j'ai même vécu avec un mannequin d'une célébrissime maison de couture (Madame Carven) ;mais tout ceci est bien loin , tout comme ce chic parisien ...il n'est qu'à voir comment s'habillent aujourd'hui la plupart des femmes ,cela donne envie de repartir vers 1900....

Yes, the clothes were very beautiful, the parasols, the hats, the settings, and just the whole atmosphere of Paris was enchanting. But, it was just for the privileged few...

Lovely video and music. Avec le temps, tout est devenu banal et commercial, et les gens dans la rue doivent rejoindre un monastère dont on pourrait reprendre le bon sens et quelque chose d'interessante et d'admirable.

Most of the women in these photos looked matronly, and surprisingly, are dark-haired brunettes and black-haired; nary a blonde, much less, an all white-haired grande dame. But beautiful choice of musique.

I agree... The models DO look healthier back then... however, looks are ALWAYS deceiving. After doing some years in a course of Costume Design I was shocked to find that bad food and VERY fatty diets was rife in the good old days. Most of these ladies probably would have had digestive problems. You just can't win. : )
