I remember Costa Rica beating Sweden in a come from behind 2-1 victory in the 1990 World Cup which put them 2nd in their group with Brazil. In an average World Cup, this was one of the stand out matches for me & I've watched CR closely ever since. 2014 was a great team for them

some people predicted turkey to be out of the group stages and had some hope. But this Costa Rica team was in the group of death with 3 teams who could even win the whole tournament everyone thought they had no chance and they went up to the quarter finals by beating Uruguay and Italy also ting with England and taking possibly prime Netherlands to penalties.

Well they’re an underdog simply because no one would expect them to get that far in the tournament. Nobody denied how good of a team they were but the fact that they got all the way to the final was shocking to a lot of people.
