The Work, Self-Inquiry, & Ego with Byron Katie

Byron Katie is a well known author, speaker and the founder of The Work. “The Work is the how. It shows you exactly how to identify and question any thought that would keep you from that freedom.” The Work is used to help individuals question their stressful or uncomfortable thoughts. In this episode we discuss what it means to be free, how does someone know if they are suffering from their thoughts, what is the cause of all suffering, why is it our natural instinct to avoid uncomfortable feelings, and if self-questioning can ever be taken too far. Bryon walks us through what the four questions that can change your life.

I hit rock bottom ,in deep depression , I cried out to God to help me out of the tormenting mental suffering. I prayed for Him to not wake me up from sleep. Few weeks later I "stumbled" on Byron Katie on KZread. " The Work" freed me, I have no words to describe my gratitude for her wisdom. This video is also full of gold nuggets, thank you for posting. Thank you Byron for the " free acid" . Love and light to all from me.

Byron Katie's Work was one of my greatest teachers along my path. I had the great pleasure if sitting with her many years ago. Without her work, the Mind would still have me in its grip. Every day gives opportunities to see if we still have any unfinished business.... She embodies simple truth 🙏❤️ and shares it with no attachment.

@@yonahhaddad7133 ...she explains it every single time, you're not paying attention: the reason why seeing the cockroach had that effect on her was not the cockroach itself, but the fact that something, in this case a cockroach, woke her up from a dead sleep so suddenly, that - and here it comes - her "ego" (aka self- identification done by the brain) was not able to label the things her eyes were seeing in the moment they opened, so she saw all things free of her mind's limiting beliefs how they really were... hope this was helpful... 👍and no, the story never gets old, because the experience it describes is endlessly amazing...

Thanks for this interview! I've known the Work of Byron Katie for a long time and I think it's very important to spread her work around the world. I must say I started giggling when you asked her: "Can you tell us who you are?"... because to her, the obvious answer is "I'm everything you think I am"... so she had to wait and think about it... "Ok now, where do I start?..." :)

I am a huge Byron Katie fan, this is a fantastic interview - filled with gold nuggets that I haven't heard before but are classic Katie. For example, taking time to question thoughts to grow etc. Thank you guys for bringing her on. Her channel hasn't been updated for a few months so I was happy to see her well.

I love Byron Katie, and I feel that she is a super hero who saved my life. I find myself becoming less and less appreciative of people who, seemingly, desire to troll her. In my eyes you are beautiful, brave, and a warrior ('warrior' in a good way); and, so far, your reputation is safe with me.

Deep work! Πολύ στοχευμένες to the point ερωτήσεις. Εξαιρετικά λυτρωτική η εργασία της Κέιτ. Ευγνωμοσύνη!

watching this video, thinking about men and women, about romantic relationships, and desperately trying to process the following: 1 - what do looks have to do with it? 2 - but then why have I never been in a relationship? (what about me?) 3 - but like, for example, the guy I like, he would want a "hot" girl... 4 - my guy friends talk about girls in these terms, too (hot or not etc.) 5 - family always telling me to dress up, do hair, wear make up etc. 6 - but they are all around me, everywhere, it's all I see: dreadfully ugly/unattractive people in terrific relationships... 7 - but what about old people? they're just old. they don't GIVE A FUCK about looks. 8 - then why can't I attract a man? 9 - men don't see me; it's like I don't exist: I'm just a fat frumpty-dumpty sexless old person in their eyes 10 - I could make a list that could fill a billion books of ugly unattractive people in sexual romantic relationships... 11 - my cousin, for example: old fat ugly (as fuck!) and married...

@Radical Honesty what if u contact Katies website? uve already outlined some fairly specific clear thoughts... if u were to have one of Katies facilitators work thru each thought with u, to ask if these thoughts u have are true, if the beliefs u have are true, why not see what happens? in the last 2 days ive been watching (& reading many comments, & adding a few) interviews, discussions, on stage Q&A, etc. with Katie & have seen your comments, in two that i read u write that in ur pain u go to sleep praying not to wake up, wanting to die. honestly there is no shame in that, all my close friends ive ever had are/were broken, as am i , we would have no problem understanding what you're feeling, thinking, but if u really are at that point, why not take Katie up on her offer, contact a facilitator @ her website, for free, what have you got to lose?🌱🐾👣🌿🕊️🙏🏼🌎💌 C

processing processing processing as I watch this video, and everything that arises in me, is unbearable and painful... the pain of the loneliness, the grief, the terror, the heartache, the despair: is like a 999-million pound weight on top of my chest. death is all I long for. escape from feeling. escape from thinking. total and complete escape is all I so desperately long for. I am paralyzed. traumatized. and as the nighttime comes, I count down the minutes, excruciatingly slow... 'til I can be tired enough to pass out, and fall asleep... agony agony agony, every passing moment: sheer agony. the nighttime hours bring the most unbearable, most unthinkable, most unimaginable pain of drowning desperation. my soul is tortured: raped. I am breathless in this internal suicidal horrible hell. please Lord, let me die. I pray only for death, and nothing else.

@Radical Honesty, ok, this is 3 times now that ive read ur comments (on different Katie youtube videos) about you praying to die. ok, why not go on Katies website, get a facilitator, be Radically Honest, & let it go where it needs to go? what have you got to lose? seriously. every time ive got in trouble in life, with whatever, the one constant was my thinking, the voice in my head. i mean, look at all the crazy things people (& the world) do, they don't just wake up one wednesday morning & decide to ruin their life, or somebody elses, right? no, it was thinking, thoughts, imagery, words & that tone of voice in the head. thats what Katie is here for, she busted through THE BELIEVING IN that voice in her head & when she questioned its thinking, its authority, its truth, that ended her suffering. & it can work for anyone who is open to give it a try. so she set the work in motion, for people like herself, like us, like you. Edit: it would be very great to hear an update from you. today is Saturday, March 19th, 2022~C

...unfortunately it takes some intelligence really to observe and also to ask the right questions... honesty or the quest for the truth help, but still...
