Kurakhove lies just 8 km from the Mariinka direction. Alarms are often raised here after the attack, as it is impossible to detect artillery fire at such a short distance.
“We are the only organisation remaining in the Kurakhivka community that helps people,” explains Maryna, head of the Kurakhivka district branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
“We are keeping on because we have no other choice, and we are very grateful to the Ukrainian Red Cross,” say local residents whom we support with food packages, pet food, heaters, water heaters, and other essentials needed to make life in the devastated town at least a little more comfortable.
