The Woodpecker Ep 296 - How to cut and install zebra blinds
Renée wanted zebra blinds in our living-room. I looked around on KZread to find out how to cut them to width without any luck. So I had to figure it all out by myself. It's the reason why I edited this video, to make sure you won't have to make experiemnts like I did.

Yes. Renée is helping me a lot, so I'm always happy to do something for her... These day since my elbow hurts when I'm lifting heady stuff, I haven't done much work in the shop, at least not stuff that involve lifting heavy pieces of wood. So I'm programming her a custom genealogical program. I promised her that for years. So now the main part is working I only have to do the icing she wants for specialized reports and searches. Not a lot of woodworking involve but she's happy that's what count.
Great video thanks

You're welcome, I hope this will help you. Like I said I was unable to find a good video on this subject on KZread so I made my own to share.

I'm glad to be back. This was one of the videos that was already ready to be published. So I'm double happy that I was able to publish it.
Blinds are nice but I like living like in Netherlands 😂 I hope your elbow gets better soon! Best regards to you and Renee ❤

Those are mostly for snoopy neighbour at night, they don't cut the sunlight when their down. I was getting better I even started modifying my very first piece of furniture I made 30 years ago. Then I lifted heavy pieces of wood and the pain came back. So I took annoter break of the shop, I will arrive at the end of my edited episodes soon, by not doing a lot. But I still have more episodes with not a lot of heavy woodworking... But I took this opportunity of not being able to do much in the shop to please Renée and program her a genealogical program, none of the ones on the market were to her liking....
Lots of work but wonderful result! Hope the elbow is better soon.

Thank you. I hope so also. It was better a couple of weeks ago, I started modifying a piece of furniture I made 30 years ago, But I lifted some heavy pieces of wood and the pain was back.. So I kept doing not much, it's hard not doing what I really want to do....

@@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker the little things get me too. Our bodies show the age even when the mind say we are 20 still!

I know it's hard getting older. And I know I'm in better shape then friends I had at work who are younger than me.
Great job Alain! I've not seen these types of blinds before but I can see that they are super cool! Very interesting, and thanks for the helpful how-to!

They're quite common around here, but no video on the net on how to cut them to length....

Zebra shades are easy to come by in the US, just rare that you ever see them installed in anyone's home.

Yes almost everyone in our street have zebra blinds, but like you said I was unable to find a video on how to cut them to width. It's the only reason why I did this video, probably none of my subscriberd will be interested in this, but maybe other people?
Not typical, but very informative Alain.

You're not the only one who's having nightmare.... I'm waiting to finish my TV cabinet to do exactly this. But I've been postponing it for months, if I lift something too heavy my elbow hurts, so I only do small stuff in the shop, to my great despair.... Hopefully I will get better soon.. I was pretty good before moving around the cherry planks I cut last January....

@@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker I am sorry if I have complained! I hope your elbow gets better, or better still, you find a willing helper!

This didn't feel as a complain more like stating the fact. I will get better, but unlike when I was 20 years old this takes more time
I’ve never seen those before. Not something I’ll ever use myself since they don’t block any light.

They're not intended for a bedroom that's for sure, it's only to block the view of snoopy neighbours at night when the lights are on inside the house
